while this is an excellent philosophical ponderance, it suffers from two errors resulting in a logical fallacy. namely, you make one assumption that is patently false: matter has an end. matter cannot be created nor destroyed. and another that cannot be proven one way or another: it must be created. unprovable with our methods. both of these are suppositions based on your original argument that god exists in the first place. several logical fallcies can probably be applied in this situation; bifurcation, begging the question (circular argument of sorts), and maybe even affirmation of the consequent. this is not some new argument, btw, it is rather common and proven invalid rather often. taks

uh, yes you can... figure out the rate of flow of the wind and then calculate the number of particles (various elements/molecules i described above) passing through a given area and you have the "density" (akin to current density in a transmission line) of the air flow. you can also easily measure the weight of air in any given volume at a certain altitude (hint: use avogadro's number). did you not take any science classes as a child in school? this is basic stuff man... grade school. i bet you don't think it's possible to send electromagnetic waves through the air to communicate over a cell phone... god connects us! taks

i call bulls***t dude... are you really THAT dense? YES, fire has mass. fire is composed of heated carbon and other elements, therefore it has mass. wind is composed of AIR einstein, ergo, IT HAS MASS. air consists mostly of oxygen and nitrogen with some carbon dioxide and a few other elements thrown in. each of these is either a.) an element or b.) a molecule and, as we all SHOULD know, elements and molecules have mass. i cannot help it if you are incapable of understanding simple physics. taks

uh, hate to tell you but YES, fire does have weight and it can be calculated and/or measured and YES, wind is also a measurable quantity. bad answer dude. be careful before you criticize somebody's "mental abilities" around here. you really don't know what you're getting into. the old testament, btw, is based on events that actually happened almost 7000 years ago. the NEW testament is only since the advent of christ a bit over 2000 years ago. anyway, the point of the story is that it is impossible to comprehend what god is, yet i CAN calculate the weight of fire and measure wind (velocity, CFM through a given area...) and the concept of time is something i'm no stranger to, therefore, if i can comprehend these concepts, why not the concept of said god? his excuse, not mine... taks

a story written 5000 years ago by somebody that 1.) was an avid believer and therefore may have a skewed opinion 2.) was uneducated (by today's standards) and could easily have mistaken a visitor from an advanced civilization (local or alien) as a god 3.) a person just trying to convey a parable to better explain something he did not understand or, finally 4.) somebody with a power trip trying to control the minds of those that cannot think for themselves. SOME of the information taken out of the bible is based on historical fact but it isn't a stretch to imagine that most of it is exaggerated, or even fabricated, in order to convince the "sheep" they must follow the will of "god." sorry, stories such as this are unconvincing. oh, and the first two "problems" are now solvable... taks

nor does it mean he exists. the existence of a god can only be proven if he were to come down and tell us here were there (signs don't count) and even then there may be an alternate explanation. it is impossible to prove a negative, btw, i.e. it is impossible to "prove" he does not exist so that is a moot argument. taks

this is actually my point... we invented the concepts of randomness, order, et. al. AROUND the system we live in. the system was defined from within the system. also, the use of the term "chaos" by me was only in the loosest sense. taks

obvious only to someone who already believes... the "design" that believers so often love to speak of is based on rules that we (humanity) invented around the system. the order that can be seen in nature is only order based on a set of rules developed around the order itself. citing design as a basis for proof of a higher power is a circular argument. nature is chaos with the appearance of order. humanity invented the concept of order only to explain the chaos. taks

Bye, Pierce
as i recall, roger moore got out of them because he felt the same as i do... the damn bond movies (and books i suppose) are just too waaaay over the top cheesy (ala cheese and macaroni cheesy). i've never been a bond fan though if i had to choose i'd say i liked connery the best, moore second, hated both dalton and brosnan (never liked either in the first place). niven will always be the pink panther evil to me oh, and the only purpose brittany spears has for me is... oh, this isn't the right place for that discussion. taks
