yeah, one layer would have sufficed IMO. i've run into issues with something being targeted accidentally with this interface, like the last potion i looked at in inventory "why won't the damn spell cast???". i'm just not used to it yet. heck, i got used to the radial menu, a good indicator that anything is possible. :0 taks

oh wow. you're pushing it. i'm on 1024x768. of course, i only have a souped up 6800 (vanilla with extra pipes turned on via rivatuner), so that resolution is good for wallpapers only. that and i'm on a 19" monitor, which causes text grief at such high resolutions. curious, are you using an LCD? if not, have you dropped down to 1280x960 as a test case? i'm wondering what the difference would be. taks

i hated the radial menu. anything is better. taks

oh, i know what the difference may be. i'm natively running at 85 Hz refresh. v-sync is related to the refresh rate, so maybe the higher refresh makes it behave differently, worse/better, who knows? just a thought. taks

too bad. i do get the occasional "jump," though i was never equating that with v-sync. it doesn't really "look" like the tearing i've seen in FPS games. it happens infrequently enough for me that i don't mind. i suppose it depends upon other factors with specific setups, btw. taks

Volourn's Wowwy Journey With NWN2:Spoiler Edition
you can't actually pick up guyven, at least not through the ember meeting. you just talk to him. you should be able to go back, or are you in act 2 and are the first locations already blocked out? taks

Volourn's Wowwy Journey With NWN2:Spoiler Edition
he's not actually in old owl well. you go to two caves right after that, the first is something gnasher, and the other is logram's lair. he's up on a hill on the right hand side in one of those areas. at least, that's what i remember. taks

i agree with that one, and others... i just think there needs to be _something_ for massive numbers, which does not seem to be true anymore. taks

Rumsfeld - Rumsfled!
the way it was originally phrased gave me the impression of "why huge?", which is what i was referring to. but yes, we did not learn. we needed to have a large presence early. it will not help, IMO, now. taks

hence my opinion of you expressed in another thread. you are the epitomy of what is wrong with people these days. taking pleasure in such a view is pathetic. taks

me too. as soon as i heard the GMS spells were "target everyone" i decided to play through on normal since i always do a weezard first time through. IMO, the strength of a spellcaster is the ability to severely damage large groups of opponents to make a tank's job easier. he should be able to control his spells to the point which they don't all target everyone. taks

is this NWN2 implementation, or 3.5E implementation problem? taks

thanks for the update roshan. i'm sure others will appreciate it. note to volourn: normal rules solves this problem! when i go to hard-core (next run through), i'll not be a spell-caster. taks

Rumsfeld - Rumsfled!
actually, we suffered the same problem then as now with iraq. they went in piecemeal rather than all out assault. the presence in nam was certainly larger, but we were also up against a much larger force backed by a real military. taks

NWN2: Forumite Impressions
outdoor is definitely better. i commented in the other thread that maybe it is because of the level of detail with interiors, all the furniture, paintings, etc. dunno... definitely the opposite of most FPS-style graphics crpgs. taks

it'll double once you figure out the v-sync thing. i think the level of detail with the interiors is the killer. outside tends to be a bit more generic from what i've seen. taks

i've seen comments that the omega drivers are a better way to access the ATI features... omegadrivers.net (no www, and i cannot load the page properly due to company locks, nor can i access support at ATI). www.driverheaven.net also has some rather extensive support forums for ATI so you might want to check there. i did not want to sign up, so i could not search for answers. hope this helps! taks

unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your circumstances), not everyone is encountering bugs or graphics issues. many of the graphics issues, btw, seem to be of the perception sort. i.e., "i have uber hardware, it should run _better_." not all mind you. the reason this is unfortunate, however, is that it makes it difficult for obsidian to debug. soooo many HW/SW combos out there. ugh. taks

v-sync is a VERY common problem with MANY games. they should default it to off in NWN2, IMO. perhaps there are reasons, however... dunno. taks

it's not an NWN2 option. only through your windows control panel can you set it. right click on your desktop. click the "Settings" tab. click the "Advanced" button at the bottom. one of the tabs will be either "GeForce <whatever>" or something similar for ATI. if it's a GeForce, click that tab and a little sticky will pop up on the left. the top option will be "GeForce FX <whatever>". click that and then "Performance & Quality Settings." there will be several things on the next screen, including a scroll-bar list titled "Settings" under the "Global driver settings" box. scroll down to "Vertical sync" and click it. at the bottom, a slider will appear with another check-box that says "Application-controlled." uncheck that box and move the slider to the left (or wherever the "off" position is). taks

Rumsfeld - Rumsfled!
all those problems existed looooong before rumsfeld. the new era of journalism simply found it out. i wouldn't call rummy a war-monger, either. his goal was a small, light, and fast military. i.e., he wanted as few troops as possible in iraq. unfortunately, i think we needed to be a HUGE presence early on to discourage the so-called "insurgency" from neighboring countries and from within the various opposing clans in iraq itself. lessons learned that i hope we don't forget. taks
