based on what you said, no. well, it has remained rather cheesy and implausible. we recognize that and watch mainly for the character interactions. they're funny, that's all. the plots are way too contrived, and overly dramatic, as you've noted, and actually a bit sappy, in my opinion. these people are criiminals, not do-gooders. career criminals don't suddenly change and give away the millions they can steal simply because it felt good once... but, it's still entertaining. i just ignore the plots. and, i should say, the season finale for in plain sight was one of the most powerful tv shows i've ever watched. totally floored me and my wife. taks

i love it. the last episode is working out to be a two parter, finishing up tomorrow night i guess. it's kooky, and carter is hilarious overall. now that in plain sight is on hiatius till NEXT FREAKING SPRING and burn notice isn't on till the winter, all i've got left are eureka and leverage (need to watch last night's episode, too.) anyway, on topic: i watched fermat's room last night. it's a subtitled flick, probably italian or spanish to begin with, i don't know enough spanish to recognize the differences immediately (particularly when you're reading the subtitles and have to think about them for reasons i'll explain). anyway, it's sort of a cube kinda flick, but a little bit more intense and, well, a little bit more meaning behind what's happening. ultimately, four mathemeticians get trapped in a room and the occasionally have to answer questions - within a minute for each question - or the room shrinks continually until they provide the correct answer. the questions are logic puzzles. this is why you have to pay attention because they are not real simple ones, and me being me, had to attempt to solve each before the victims did. nice twist in the end, though there was a plot hole or two they did not resolve or accurately work out. very simple set, almost entirely shot in the shrinking room. some standard high stupidity on occasion toward the end, too, but overall, a flick worth watching. it was on sundance. taks

beer has a much lower pH than hard liquor. ethanol itself has a pH of 7.33, which is slightly basic, whereas beer is typically around 4 (a mild acid). hard liquor, i believe (cannot find the reference i once had), is typically around a pH of 6 or so. taks

yes, the galaxy. it was colorized to look like you see it in books and the media, too. ooh, and cute puppies, too. and a blender... yeah! oh, not really cute anymore, eh? taks

that's the rub, ain't it? sigh... the switch to 32-bit seemed relatively painless. so painless, in fact, that i scarfed win32 up as soon as it came out and never had a problem. of course, the permeation of the home computer, nay, computers in general, into our lives was not nearly as great in the early 90s as now. taks

i've played the BGs so many times now i go straight for maximizing levels and loot and simply tinkering with different NPCs for the quest differences. ultimately, i should max out experience for everyone through ToB (which is 8 million IIRC). my romp through the series this time has all my characters at about 2.5 million and i'm in chapter 6 cleaning up all the miscellaneous quests (a few strongholds to do, kangaxx, etc.) yay... there's simply nothing else i feel like playing right now. taks

certainly a relevant question since 64-bit is ultimately the way to go. will it be a pain in the beginning, or is 7 expected to be better with 64-bit out of the gate? i still haven't tried to install my beta. oh well. taks

there are several of us in here that have been posting together for over a decade now (since BG1, in fact). taks

nope, it doesn't. i had an actual cool one, however: it had andromeda on it. of course, the bastards jacked my rate up to 17.99% so i don't use it anymore. they did that in response to me chewing their rep out for not honoring the low rate "for life" the card originally came with. for life... yeah, right, i guess that assumes all of their customers are expected to die one year from the time the "for life" rate is granted. taks

the cardinals are extending their lead over chicago. 3 games now, and we're 12 games over .500! this from the team that was only expected to win 70 last year (ended up over .500) and 2nd/3rd this year. carp plays again wednesday, btw. he's 11-3 with a 2.26 ERA in spite of missing quite a bit of the season from an injury. experts my ass... taks

you should read the comments... there are some that are not only relevant, but quite accurate. all hope is not lost. taks

fortunately, the rockies and cards both won today. stl is 2 games ahead of the cubs now. looks like stl will be in town the 25th-27th of september. might have to see one of the games. taks

the rockies-cubs game was pretty good last night. broken bats (john loved that), home runs, stupid errors. the game was a toss-up once the scoring started. the rockies led off with jason marquis, of cubs and cardinals infamy. man he was bad for both of the latter two teams. he wasn't a whole lot better last night. i wanted the rockies to win only because the cardinals are battling the cubs for first in the NL central. oh well. taks

man i got durnk last night. man i'm gonna hurt when i finally sober up. yes, i'm still durnk. can't go back to sleep. hey guys, while i may agree with the sentiment, let's keep the politics out of this thread. what's nice about "what you did today" is that we typically stay away from any and all potential food fights and political issues tend to create food fights. this is the haven for all of us to talk about life, the universe, and everything without the stress of an argument. oof it's hard to type durnk. we're going to the rockies' game tonight, btw. heading over to my buddy's house around noon and eating some tacos el carbon with chips and dip, then driving up to denver for the game. this will be john's first baseball game. in other news, did i mention we had four of the little guy's teeth pulled the other day? he talks funny now. he's mad, however, because the tooth fairy only gave him four bucks for his four teeth. he wanted a thousand dollars. yes, a thousand. i informed the little **** that the tooth fairy doesn't have a thousand dollars and he replied that the tooth fairy has a magic wand. the tooth fairy doesn't have the magic job, i thought to myself. six... it'll only get worse. taks

the third bourne is probably the best, and it gets reviewed online the best, too. the second is typically reviewed the worst. i'm not sure about the lotr movies. taks

the bourne series is the only one i've ever known to increase it's revenue from film to film. the bourne legacy is scheduled for summer, 2010, woohoo! taks
