  1. Man, Vancouver played like crap tonight. And what was with Naslund's wimpy attempt in that shootout? Didn't look like he put any effort in at all.
  2. You kinda have to actually sell something you've written and have a "career" before you can start making 'conditions' on your sales If you're afraid of re-writing... writing may not be for you. As to the movie Serenity... it was... ok. (now that I've seen it) I'm guessing you have to watch the series to actually get the full effect? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah. The only characters with any depth at all in the movie are River, Mal, Zoe, and the Operative. If you've seen the show then the characters are a lot more developed and certain events in the film have a LOT more impact.
  3. Pretty much, the 360 launches in 2 months so it's stuck with DVD. It seems likely that if the 360 wants to keep pace once the PS3 is released and they start to use more than 10 GB per game, then your going to need multiple disks. Two disks dosnt seem too far fetched but if ever it gets to the point of someone actually filling a Blu Ray disk then your game box is going to be thicker than the old style game boxes. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Once they really start pushing the HD capabilities of the games that will start to fill a lot of space. I think one japanese dev house already complained that standard DVDs don't have enough space if you have to display everything in HD. I mean some games for the PS2 are starting to come out on 2 discs, add the extra space for the new next gen graphics, as well as the extra space required for HD picture quality, and you're going to need some crazy compression to fit that on DVDs.
  4. I'm talking triple layer discs. They can fit 4 hours of HD res film on one 25 GB single layer Blu-Ray disc. If they can replicate the HD-DVD triple layer technology on Blu-Ray, that boosts it to 75 GB. The LotR extended editions were only split over 2 discs because they had 4 commentary tracks, as well as the standard audio tracks.
  5. Yeah, but you'll still need 3 discs for the LotR trilogy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, but you could fit each of the extended editions with all the extras on a single disc.
  6. Chances are you'll never have it made the way you wrote it unless either you direct it yourself, or its a condition of the sale.
  7. From what I hear, Blu-Ray will cost around 30 bucks for a movie instead of 25-27 for a DVD(Canadian New Release Prices). Thats not a big jump, and the 5 bucks is worth it if you've ever seen something in HD. The jump in quality between DVD and HD is about the same, if not greater than the jump in quality between VHS and DVD. And if sony can reproduce the same technology that allowed the HD-DVDs to go to 45 GB, that would put Blu-Ray discs at 75 GB. You could fit the Star Wars trilogy on a single disc in HD with that kind of space.
  8. http://www.businessweek.com/technology/con..._9074_tc024.htm Sony now has the support of 6 of the 7 major movie studios, and the 7th is assumed to be jumping on board soon, as well as Dell and Hewlett Packard, and the PS3 will have a blu-ray drive, meaning anyone who buys a PS3 will be able to watch Blu-Ray movies. Now Microsoft and Intel have thrown their support in for HD-DVD, but not putting an HD-DVD drive in the Xbox360 will really hurt the possible sales of HD-DVD I think.
  9. He was also behind the best and worst line in X-Men. He was responsible for the "Its me. Prove it. You're a ****. Ok" line, and the "What happens to a toad when its struck by lightning" line. Though he said they said the toad line all wrong. It was sposed to be a joke, but they said it all serious. If they said it right, it still wouldn't have been a good line, but it wouldn't have been so terrible. And apparently his Alien Ressurection script was raped by re-writes, much like Frank Miller's Robocop 2 and 3 scripts.
  10. I bought Xenosaga 2 a couple months ago and started playing it and realized I had completely forgot what had happened at the end of Xenosaga 1, so I started replaying it and got to the end boss of that giant gnosis mothership thing, where that guy turns into the gnosis and remembered how much of a pain in the ass that freaking boss was. Then I got Suikoden 4 in the mail and started playing that. I should get back to it.
  11. I didn't expect him to suddenly come out and be the greatest player in the league in his rookie year. Sure he may have been top **** in the minors, but 99% of the people he was playing against in that league aren't good enough to play NHL hockey this year, so now he's suddenly playing against people miles ahead of anyone he played against before in terms of skill. Once he gets used to it though, he should improve. Unless he pulls a Jason King and just gets worse.
  12. You won't get the full effect out of it without seeing the series, but it would still be good without it.
  13. You're a day late
  14. So what do ya'll think happened with Jack and his wife?
  15. Mortal Kombat was a good movie. It pulled off exactly what it set out to do, which was make an entertaining action movie out of a video game. It mostly stuck to the games premise, the acting was pretty good, as was the directing and VFX. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation on the other hand... *shudders*
  16. http://video.vividas.com/CDN1/3929_Serenity/web/index.html First 9 minutes of Serenity.
  17. So the DVD has been announced for December 20th. Crap for special features, so expect a special edition sometime in the spring.
  18. I'll be seeing it again this weekend most likely. Gotta drag my other roommate who cancelled at the last minute on friday because he got some vacuum tubes in the mail.
  19. *raises hand* Apparently we had a parade in Vancouver to welcome hockey back.
  20. Whoo... 1 nothing Vancouver in the 2nd. EDIT: Make that 2 nothing. Ohlund, then Naslund
  21. We just need to trick Bush into saying that not seeing Serenity is unamerican.
  22. http://www.hatrack.com/osc/reviews/everyth...-30-extra.shtml Orson Scott Card thinks its the best Sci Fi movie ever.
  23. What I heard was either a 40-50 million domestic gross, or a 70-80 million international gross will get us a sequel. So if it only gets 20 million domestic, but another 60 worldwide, we'll get our sequel.
  24. I didn't think it was the best movie of the year either. That goes to Batman Begins. This is a good 2nd though.
