Some layoffs are almost certain to happen, unfortunately.

I think I'm done with 50% of The Witcher 3. As I suspected, getting all the question marks and stuff is boring. Doing quests with actual story is very good. I don't mind exploring and finding loot, but I am not a fan of the Ubisoft design of tasks and such. In some ways, the game is fantastic and in others, I vastly prefer the second game in the series. Atmosphere and attention to detail is sublime. Graphics are great and I like the soundtrack. Can't complain about the writing or voice acting. There's a decent variety of enemies. I've gotten used to the combat, even if I don't love it.

I might get it down the line, but it does not look like an rpg to me.

Feel better, dude. My vacation starts but so does a cold from the frozen hells. Oh well, time to play a crapton of games and drink a crapton of tea (and some other adult substances).

Pictures of your Games Episode IX - The Bigger Picture
Labadal replied to Rosbjerg's topic in Computer and Console
I think it is Age of Wonders III. -
I'm decently happy to very happy with my backing of different crowd funding projects. My biggest disappointment was Torment: Tides of Numenera. On the other hand, my gut feeling was that it was impossible for it not to be a disappointment.

I will probably tire of it. I've spent five hours with the game. Let me have my fun before I start to complain.

I am now focusing on two games: Arc the Lad II for the PS1 and The Witcher III: GotY Edition on PC. I'm really liking the former and having mixed feelings about the latter. I still don't like the combat in a The Witcher game, but I enjoy everything else. The world is fun to explore and some quests are fun. Presentation is top notch. This is the first game that really challenges my new computer in any way. (I've owned the game since release, but I never had the horsepower to run it.)
-
That's the reason I didn't go with a Pro. The games run better, but I haven't seen anything about it that makes it a must have for now.

I believe that they will have their own side quests.

Played this in Japanese already. Honestly, everything that it does, Yakuza Zero does better. There's no reason to buy both unless you're a major fan of the series. RTS against other players is a pressure cooker, but I enjoy the campaigns etc. against the computer. There's more time to relax, play with units etc. I wish there was a new RTS with an awesome campaign a la Warcraft 2 or Starcraft 1 (You know, when the writing was still good). Isn't Kiwami remake of Yakuza 1 on PS2? I've never played PS2 titles, but enjoyed all Yakuza, I've played so far. Yeah, it's a remake of the first game.

Fookin' crazy. I have like 7 or 8 unfinished PS4 games, and my most anticipated games for the system: Ni No Kuni II, Yakuza 6 and Dragon Quest XI aren't even released. Then, I might pick up Kingdom Hearts III, and the hack games. I haven't even bought Tales of Vesperia yet. I have Indivisble pre-ordered (backed on IGG). (There are tons of other games that I won't even bother mentioning.) If I ever buy a PS5, it sure as hell won't be before 2020.

I completed two adventure games. Gabriel Knight: Sins of Our Fathers 20th Anniversary Edition and Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders. GK was leaps and bounds better than ABC.

Which TRPG do you want to see adapt for CRPG?
Labadal replied to btsam's topic in Computer and Console
I've never tried it, but Ars Magica sounds interesting on paper. -
I want more buttons. Buttons! Buttons everywhere!

That's why I'm not talking about it. It sounded fun at first, but I can't play RTS games.

I rate FN:V, Mask of the Betrayer, KOTOR II and Alpha Protocol as the best Obsidian games. Then, Storm of Zehir and Pillars of Eternity. Below them, NWN OC, Tyranny, DS34 and last SP. It's late, I messed up the ranking, now corrected.

A game made by the "B-team", No disrespect to anyone at Obsidian. I like some of the ideas and concepts but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. I dislike the lack of flavor text. It's like your playing a game in bronze age, but people speak like they do today. Lack of enemy variety and encounter design is poor. Mostly boring and small maps. An abrupt ending. The lack of a budget us to me apparent. Not a big fan of the companions and the lack of companion quests was a letdown. The create your own spell system was fun. There are some other positives. In general, not one of my favorite Obsidian games, but I rate it above DS3 and South Park.

The Wolf Among Us was a decent "game". Good atmosphere and certainly better than most of the stuff they have released in recent years.

For the main site, show the most active topics and maybe even show developer responses. About having a twitter feed with Obsidian employee accounts, ask those who are okay with this. Maybe not every employee wants to be a part of this. When you guys post an update on twitter, fig, kickstarter or whatever, do not only post it on the main page. Also post it here in the community, where we can discuss it. You have Obsidian General, but also have Obsidian News or something. For instance: Pillars of Eternity II gets an update on FIG that you also post in Obsidian News. That thread is also tied to the PoE II sub forum, if possible. I like the idea of developer blogs. Give the blogs more room and a little more attention. Either video blogs or in text format. Then, you share those on all your social media accounts. Obsidian plays should be advertised here. I don't think enough people know about it. I certainly wouldn't if I didn't use twitter.
-
To be clear, I was joking about your own storefront! I just think that the main site is in need of an update. It's like no one cares about it. Even the pools are super old. I hope there aren't too many changes to the boards. All I wish for is that you can make threads with more than 500 replies.

Also start your own storefront like uPlay and Origin. Make it as DRM heavy as possible. (I like the forum, just do an update to the main site.)

I'm still not happy about a 5 man party. I really like having my 6 party members. 5 isn't bad, but 6 characters worked with the first game. Pillars of Eternity had some issues that the guys at Obsidian want to iron out, but the number of combatants you controlled wasn't the problem. They are already lowering the amount of encounters in the game (a good thing), which means that they have a bigger shot at doing more memorable encounters throughout the campaign. With that in mind, I don't see why they couldn't keep a 6 man party.
