Are you people new to the internet or something? When did binary stop being cool and geeky?

I think the idea here was that game reviews are inflated. The scores usually go from 7.5 to 9.5 for most games(that get at least a little marketing). They are actually pretty reluctant to give out real 10s. This isn't true 100% of the time, but I'm sure you can at least agree that the game press isn't very objective.

You want the nipples? You can't handle the nipples! It's true, it's all true.

Noo! Will someone think of the nipples? Now christians are trying to take away my nipples? Where will this end?

Yeah, games journalism as it is, is pretty abysmal. I like to listen to the gaming podcasts where they usually say what's on their mind and don't have to worry about evil corporate overlords. I think the problem is that games journalism is too dependent on the publishers. They are easily bullied around when the publisher can decide not to send them preview copies or let them to their events, also they can pull the ad money to really make them suffer. 1UP got banned from all Ubisoft event at one point IIRC, the GFW magazine guys really tired to make a difference. Until the games press grows some balls and stands up to the publishers in numbers, nothing is going to change. Where would movie critics be if the big studios could just bully the reviewers into giving them good reviews? The studios and more importantly (some of) the directors and actors actually care enough to make a good movie. As it is now, the gaming press is a joke and they seem perfectly happy eating out of the publisher's hand.

Would you ever consider making a DS game?

In many ways the iphone delivers on what the PSP should have been The Loco Roco clone has motion control (which loco roco was begging for) and all the games are cheap and downloadable With the DS I think the most surprising thing is how much software it sells. Like you said piracy is bad on it. But I saw an NPD chart and overall software sales are far above both the Wii and 360, like almost twice as much If a game needs to sell only 300k to be successful then there must be a lot of successful games out there Yeah, DS games sell like hotcakes if there is enough marketing behind it. Making a DS games is most certainly a better investment than a PSP game. The iPhone/Touch delivers in pixel pushing power and infrastructure(App store), but it is sorely lacking in interface. Games like Rolando(the Loco Roco clone) work well, but there are a lot of things that suffer horrible from the lack of buttons. Covering up half the screen with your fingers and tilting the thing around isn't going to work for most current types of games. iPhone will probably be more of a testing ground for the new technologies than a serious platform. It is very hit and miss at the moment. -
It's good when you believe that it will all make sense in the end. If it won't THEN I'll be disappointed, at the moment I'm just along for the ride.

Yeah, it's hard to compare the piracy rates without any real data. I was just pointing out that DS piracy is very real. I think the UMD is PSP's biggest downfall. They should have gone with downloadable games and flash memory from the beginning. Who was genius who put an optical drive into a portable gadget? Haven't they learned anything from portable cd players? -

It's not showing any signs of going away now when everyone is fighting it tooth and nail. It's like fighting a force of nature, the only way you can limit is by severely limiting the user access. Even that has been cracked time and time again. -

DS has a lot of piracy too. Those flashcarts are everywhere these days. Piracy pretty much just is and has always been. -
I'm not too familiar with anime, but I don't think this is where Joss Whedon is going with this.

What are you asking exactly? That the writers kept it "open" (so to speak) so they could use it to tie up some loose ends.. ? I'm asking if anyone else got the impression that the time-leaps were happening because Ben "broke" the wheel by making it come off its axis. Because the wheel was off it's axis it kept going back and forth and then Locke fixed it by turning it himself. I'm asking if anyone agrees with my interpretation of the events.

If Id made the game, it would have ended with Beckett and Stokes floating alone on the sea in a liferaft full with champagne and russian caviar. SEXY TIME!!! Nice, but it wouldn't be complete with zombie-Alma handing from the side/bottom ala FEAR 1. It would certainly kick more ass than the current FEAR 2 ending.
-
Did anyone else think that the Frozen Time Wheel was off its axis and skipping because of that(and causing time to skip as well)? Ben was not supposed to turn the wheel and screwed it up so Locke had to fix it by turning it/putting it back on the axis.

Did you beat fear 2 yet? You will eat your words Yup, I beat it. No sex, no sharing of MRE's just Was that it?! Im not even sure you can call that an ending, more like a premature running-out-of-game. And what the freck are you guys so grossed out about? If that doesn't gross you out then you are made of sterner stuff, good sir.

I finally saw it. It's wasn't bad and FOX made Joss redo the pilot IIRC. I think that they the kidnapping story and the negotiator persona were too ordinary or safe. They should have started with something crazy/funny, that's what Whedon does best. I couldn't judge actors' acting if my life depended on it(unless they are so horrible that they wouldn't get paid for it) so I can't really comment on anyone's acting. Eliza looks a little weird, but I'll probably get used to it. They were trying to whore her out a little with the shortest dress everâ„¢ and futuristic shower scene IMO. I liked the scarred-faced-lady and the Dollhouse boss-woman played by Olivia Williams. The police/FBI dude didn't do much, though and the naked hairy dude in the end was just weird(would have been nice to get some explanation about him in this episode) I think it has potential, Echo needs cooler and more diverse personas and less cliche zomg I was abused as a child side-effects. How about a male persona or something crazy like that. From what I heard the first 3-4 episodes were supposed to be pretty much stand-alone. Then it gets more serialized and Joss was pimping episode 6 as the best so far. Also the first season will have Felica Day at some point, yay! I honestly don't see how it is anything like an anime, maybe you could explain that. I also don't see her escaping the facility or regaining more than fragments of her memory this season, but I guess we'll see.

I don't know if it is such a good idea. The DS is good for turn-based combat, but as most WRPGs have real-time (with pause) it wouldn't work that well. An adventure game with Obsidian's writing talent could be good. While I like my DS, I don't think that a serious WRPG would sell well on it. It needs more innovative stuff that makes (non-gimmicky) use of the touchscreen and mic. Hotel Dusk was awesome for example. EDIT: No iPhone games, please. The lack of buttons is already bad enough. The app store is saturated with $.99-$2.99 crap and more expensive stuff is suffering horribly. I have an iPod Touch and I do not see it as a viable gaming platform. -
Meaning what? Good? Bad? Hot red-headed chick who wears wigs and kicks everyone's ass?

No thread for Dollhouse? Shame on you! So has anyone seen it? Was it good? Firefly good? The premise reminds me a little of Planescape: Torment. The main character is "imprinted" with a new personality in every episode, but gradually begins to remember some of her past as well.
