  1. Sounds boring, but whatever.
  2. Didn't think of that. Still, there are way too many situations where you get ganged up on with no way out and no potions left. Does pulling the cable save you?
  3. How is it any different from deleting your character after dying? It's not like it gives any benefits.
  4. If they don't you can always delete the character if you get killed, right? I think someone asked about it in the QA and they said that they are still considering it. Check out the QA on youtube for the exact answer.
  5. It will be fun to see what happens when it comes out, but the whole thing screams of an awesome idea, a good sales pitch(ala Molyneux) and a totally horrible final product. I'm really interested if the devs managed to restrain themselves and keep the supernatural BS out this time, it would be so hilarious if they couldn't.
  6. That hasn't helped with the sales much, which was the point. Also, exclusives suck for both the customers(less chance that they can play it) and the developers(less money on sales). The PS2 was pretty much a monopoly in the last generation, now Microsoft is pretty much eating their lunch with a console that breaks every so often, doesn't have a Blu-Ray player or even wifi built in.
  7. And why do people think that Heavy Rain will be any different? Cage basically takes a psychological thriller, introduces some quick-time events during tense moments of said movie, and dares calling it a 'game'. I don't have a clue, it's just another PS3 exclusive that is supposed to "save" the PS3, but will probably fail miserably. Just put it somewhere between Obama and GT5:
  8. If I were to expect anything I'd expect a dumbed down buggy mess, but we'll have to wait and see.
  9. Yeah, the last third was complete rubbish. Guess Dave Cage didn't know what to throw out of the game to make it more cohesive. That AI stuff, intertwined with the temperature drop was completely artificial and rushed. He should have sticked with the Maya dude and make the conclusion there. Still, overall nice effort. I liked the characters with the exception of Lukas, who was a bit too whiney. Tyler "bail out" Miles wasn't all that great either, who the hell just leaves when the world is ending!? I'd say the idea was good, but it failed in execution. The quick time events were pretty horrible and the real "story" was straight out of loonyville. I could have taken some supernatural stuff, but that was way too much.
  10. The first ~6 missions are about getting your team together. It's not dumbed down and it has awesome stuff like knocking people unconscious by bouncing a rock off the side of a building or putting a vial of knockout gas on a balloon and then shooting the balloon when it is above the enemies. Also, you can't just bunch your team together in a corner and shoot all the enemies in the level to death.
  11. I'll counter that by saying 99% of anything WWII-related sucks. If you haven't played it, you should. Try the demo.

    Books

I'm rereading(listening) the Wheel of Time series, before the first part of the final book comes out in October. There's also an awesome re-read summary/analysis thing on the here.
  13. Yup, each of the units has a few abilities, so when playing that unit gets boring, but trying new ones is always fun. The combat is pretty simplistic, though. Too bad there isn't a demo.
  14. I'm sure you can choose from a large variety of forehead prosthetics and skin colors.
  15. Why the Desperados hate? It took the Commandos style, but made every character unique with their own (useful) abilities, had a story worth something(instead of a lame history lesson before every mission) and each of the ~25 levels was unique and varied. That said, I haven't played Commandos 3, other than ~10 minutes of the demo and that didn't do anything for me.
  16. When you bring up Fahrenheit as an example of anything, please specify the first half, because the second half is so horrible, it's not even funny. As for the art argument, either everything creative is art or everything YOU think is art is art. There's nothing stopping something from having artistic qualities while still being entertaining.
  17. Is it weird that I like having lots of different paths and stuff in a game, but almost never replay them? I just don't feel like trudging through the same stuff again. On the other hand when I see a path split, I go down one to see where it goes and then check out the other as well, so that I don't miss anything.
  18. But will it be any good? This is not the original developers, right? Don't knock Desperados, it pretty much took the best of Commandos and made it better.
  19. Is it good? I'm going to be downloading it at the end of the monh. It's fun for a while, but loses that pretty quickly and becomes a chore. They do mix up the levels pretty nicely, though.
  20. It's handled pretty well in EVE. Dying usually means that you lose your ship which is quite a big investment and potentially some progress as well. It's not too bad, but it does really sting.
  21. What if your character died because of some jackass griefing you or because of lag? It also diminishes the characters value when they are just there to be potentially thrown away.
  22. And I'm not contesting that. That's actually my point and why I think that right now saying any game already released has outstanding writing is, not only shortsighted, but dismissive of the medium's potential. You could say the best writing so far. Who says there won't be better books than the ones we have now?
  23. Too much to loose. Bail out! The normal dying is bad enough. How many people would play hardcore in MMOs?
  24. Well, the question is do you want to date Felicia Day's avatar. Who wants to date a lame tattoo?
