  1. Whatever the reason, it's just sad to see AP sent out to die.
  2. The closest you're going to get is Dark Void which is supposed to a spiritual sequel in some capacity. I know and it looks stupid. :'( You can fly with flying saucers and stuff, that part was supposed to be like Crimson Skies. I still have hope for this game.
  3. Argh! Me and Braid, we go way back. I hate it with a fiery passion because of the pretentious story. I can appreciate the gameplay, but the hate still burns with the fire of a thousand suns.
  4. Vary few publishers seem to take advantage of the exclusive media coverage the games get when they come out in a practically gameless month. No one would even mention Red Faction: Guerrilla in the fall, but everyone talked about it for a whole month because it was the only major-ish release in June. That's how you get people interested and rack up lots of sales, especially for a somewhat niche non-franchise game.
  5. The graphics were nice, but the combat really lacked the complexity of BG2, for example. No awesome wizard on wizard battles
  6. Yeah, how far back do we go? Are BG&E and Mafia too old?
  7. I agree with the fantasy RPG part. The problem isn't really the fantasy part, though, it's the lack of innovation. You can pretty much do anything with the genre(Planescape, Arcanum), but everyone keeps going back to the worn out Tolkien stuff.
  8. So is this about important games or actual classics? Bioshock was a very important game, but for me it's not a classic(because of the reasons you listed). I'd put something like Portal, CoH, MotB there.
  9. Damn it! If I had a quarter every time I heard that
  10. You have to look at the different systems in place. ME is pretty much a classic WRPG with action-oriented combat, so I'd call it a hybrid.
  11. They couldn't have chosen a worse time to bring this out (well, maybe Q1 2010). Alpha Protocol could do so much better if they had released it in the desert of games that was July-August. Releasing it alongside Halo, Assassin's Creed and MW2 is pretty much sending it out to die.
  12. Why not wait and see instead of going all hype crazy and then getting disappointed? I'm sure most people here are still going to get it, they're just not bouncing around the room from hype.
  13. ... Let's try to not derail this thread completely. I'm still waiting for my reply from the OP.
  14. Anyone who can't see that the combat in PST was sucky needs to take a reality check. It's an awesome RPG, but it's not a flawless gem handed down to gamerkind by Zeus himself. As for ME, the party thing most certainly didn't work for me. Both of my companions were dead in seconds in most of the fights.
  15. You click in pretty much every game. That's the stupidest argument against Diablo ever, I don't know why people still use it. A shooter? you click. An RPG? you click. An RTS? you click. See the pattern?
  16. The closest you're going to get is Dark Void which is supposed to a spiritual sequel in some capacity.
  17. You guys just hate fun, don't you?
  18. O noes, game journalists not actually up to journalism standards. Stop the internets!
  19. Sorry, didn't notice my right boot was smoking while the left was tanking up it's car. But if the game can read your choices from a save, why not let people without a save change things? Shouldn't be hard to do. Nah, looks like the choices from ME doesn't change much in ME2. Now while I think about it, I don't even know why I expected otherwise. There would be way too much work to do if those choices would change things majorly. I'm sure there will be a save editor out within ~12h of the release.
  20. Great that you didn't start a petition, because they don't really work. I believe my sarcastic response was both witty and accurate, since your mocking tone in the opening post did not seem very constructive. The game is coming out in a month, no one is going to change stuff this far into the development cycle. How was I elitist, by the way? I didn't even disagree with your argument, I just noted it's lack of constructive content.
  21. I prefer to be excited for game that I know will turn up good. I've been burned far too many times.
  22. Play an awesome fun game that will work without problems and be generally fun? I've done that before as well, but the having fun part never seems to get old. Weird... So basically guaranteed fun > potential fun. At least on the hype-o-meter.
  23. Yes I am. I'm also excited about HL2: Episode 3, because there's a good chance that they will be super special awesome.
  24. No cyberpunk, no go. I don't really have high hopes for DX3, but it might at least be better than IW.
