But guess the actual score, that's much harder

My prediction on real goals scored was 100 % correct again ( yes I got the penalty shootouts wrong but my psychic abilities only extend so far )

So, no more 'dark' settings then? That's a good point Malc, his statement doesn't make sense. And in fact could inhibit the creative process around gaming. Because what is the definition of "oppressive", its subjective

What points don't you agree with? Good question, he mentions for example "forgettable white guy shooting people in the face and rescusing babes in bikinis. Nobody is going to take that Dionysian joy away from you, except yourself, when you grow up" I think he is generalizing and simplifying why people play certain games. What's wrong with playing a game just for the entertainment factor? Everything doesn't have to be a about a statement. Also its condescending to suggest that people who play certain games are juvenile. The mindless entertainment could be a way escapism from the pressures of RL so we shouldn't judge

I'm sure your training schedule is a factor in that type of fatigue

Wow, such support and patriotism for your country. I'm overwhelmed

What a game, well done Netherlands Did you guys notice my guess for the score was 100 % correct. Now Greece vs Costa Rica

Volo please try to be serious, did you read the article ?

Upset ??? You should be celebrating

Bruce, by Philly Steak Roll are you referring to a Philly Cheesesteak? If you ever get to Philadelphia, you should try Pat's or Geno's. They're located near the Italian Market in Philadelphia (which also has great shopping). I prefer Pat's, but Geno's has a large following as well. Sounds like you had a great day! Squeakymeister "waves" Yeah that's what we call it in South Africa, thx for the tip about Philadelphia I love Philly Cheesesteak, very yummy. I had my first one about 5 years in Atlanta airport on our way to a technical symposium in Las Vegas

I can't believe you really think that

Pretty much this. I agree, for me this is one of the numerous insights he makes

http://midnightresistance.co.uk/articles/****ty-toys Guys please read this article that discusses several pertinent issues that we often raise like the privilege that white, straight males have in modern society, there influence in gaming, the definition of censorship and also how games should be more inclusive. But its not a guilt trip, I think the author makes some cogent and thought- provoking points. Don't get put off by the first paragraph, the journalist offers some real insights I don't agree with everything he says but most of it makes sense, what do you think?

Went to a Farmers Flea Market today which is basically a collection of delicious food stalls. That's one of the many perks about living in a big city. Flea markets and outdoor events are a big deal, there are a variety of them and they are always well supported. I ate Greek pastries and a Philly Steak Roll. I also bought some Gorgonzola cheese, exotic jams ( to have with the cheese later) and some scrumptious Cabanossi So it was a successful trip

Its a big game. No doubt about that and Mexico have the confidence of being underdogs but I still believe Netherlands will win

Character Custom History/Biography

You agreed trolling is not always malicious in the trolling tread in WoT. So please don't make stuff up. However, your intent was to have fun at my expense by bringing in a contentious topic that has no relevance to this thread. Yes, you're trolling and it's not appreciated by myself and by a lot of people on this board. Ah but you are misunderstanding something, my intention with my post was just to make you laugh. True trolling is where you just want to upset someone. That's not what I am doing- 45 replies

Character Custom History/Biography
BruceVC replied to Osvir's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It might impact how you play the character and how you respond to events if you know your character's background, personality and beliefs. Mostly for the ultra RP centered folks. I guess it is a couple of things: 1) LARPing: You like to roleplay? You like to immerse yourself? Then a character biography is a great tool and help to achieve this. 2) It's fun to write your own character, or use a character you've played with in another game and then insert them into this new world. 3) Gives a sense of purpose to the character. Why is this specific character in this world and who is he/she? 4) It gives the Player "control" over their own character (most modern games use "vanity" as a way to give the player control over their characters. Appearance, name, clothes etc.) Good ideas Osvir I like the concept of creating a realistic background based on actual lore and historical context within the framework of the game. So during character creation, as you mentioned, you would need some pointers as this is a new IP and we don't know enough about the game world to necessarily make the right decisions about where we are from and what this means Also as Death Machine mentioned this will help shape certain decisions if you adhere to a RP principle but I don't think this would only apply to hardcore RP. For example I don't consider myself a hardcore RP but I always make decisions in a RPG based on the ethos of my character. For example I generally play a Chaotic Good type personality who believes in doing the right thing but also considers the financial benefit to quests and decisions- 45 replies

LARPing while playing video games may be going a little too far for me. I don't think that's true about you Hiro Look how supportive you are when it comes to Romance in RPG and that involves RP within the game as the relationship is a virtual one?- 45 replies

Tough calls but I think its a good idea for us to start predicting who will be winning in the remaining games and the score We can have a friendly competition to see who gets the most right Netherlands vs Mexico : 2-1 Costa Rica vs Greece: 1-1 ( penalty shoot-outs will decide the game, but I'm betting on Greece)
-
Penalty kicks must be a terrible way to decide the fate of a game..but I suppose you have to have a victor
-
Wow dude, I wasn't expecting such honest negativity. I have just bought the first 2 games in this series and I was looking forward to playing them but now you have almost put me right off. I shouldn't have asked, my bad

Not sure why you find this funny? My take on this is simple, they are changing Dreamfall from one game into 5 small games and releasing them sequentially. They are doing this as the larger game was taking too long and now they can focus on the each small game individually. But original backers still all 5 games for free. Where is the joke I'm missing?
