  1. http://www.polygon.com/features/2013/12/2/5143856/no-girls-allowed Guys for those interested in how women have been marginalized as far as the target market has always been men for development companies and publishers I suggest you read this article Its long but very pertinent and gives an objective opinion around this issue. If you understand the history you may be less resistance to the expected change
  2. So it's sexual harrassment now asking men if they will wear a bra or not? Qistina my advice is don't have this type of debate with Volo, he is completely illogical around some of his views You will just get frustrated with him unless you understand the way he sees the world
  3. Okay, will you wear a bra? if you don't, then you are sexst That made me laugh @ Volo Stop teasing her, you know what you are doing
  4. That's a terrible analogy, its like saying I want to raise an important forum discussion " we don't have enough white, male presidents in the USA " because I am worried after Obama that we won't see another white, male president in the USA That forum discussion would be irrelevant and illogical
  5. We should start one, Sub-Human Atrocious Males. Who wants in on the SHAM? I suppose that's one way of having to address these types of social developments and changes. Turn it into a joke so that you don't have deal with the reality of the situation I don't think that there are going to be any social development or changes; women still don't have an interest on core gaming or STEM fields related to gaming, the majority of core gamers are male. The only thing the SJW could achieve via their tactics is the preservation of their status quo, so they keep playing women as victims, they keep attacking any developer (woman or man) that doesn't share their views. This is counter development, is change in the opposite direction from progress. You guys keep making the same points that you feel besieged by various SJ initiatives. Is that honestly how you feel, that the various attempts to raise awareness around issues like the fair representation of the genders in games is about an attack on male gamers? I wont disagree that there are some extreme views but are all SJ endeavours around gaming that bad? And if you agree that there are some that are valid and worthwhile why can we not focus on those and not the Anita campaigns that I understand annoy most of you? Its like there is no middle ground, either you support Anita or you are vociferously against her and what she stands for

  7. http://www.pcgamer.com/previews/dragon-age-inquisition-hands-on-fine-fantasy/ Guys here is some good input around DA:I, I am still impressed and getting more impressed as I read further updates
  8. Because these people will not stop at getting a more diverse selection of games. They will want to police what everyone plays. They will keep hounding developers until what only they deem is appropriate is allowed in and everything "offensive" is made taboo or else people be branded misogynists. I'm genuinely interested in what you think will happen when "they will police everything and allow only what is appropriate in" ? Can you give some examples of what will change in gaming if this is allowed to happen because I am unclear around what you mean?
  9. Yes, like if that turtle wete, say, a ninja!!! Oh you are good
  10. I'm going to say this one more time and then I'll leave it, in the beginning of this thread I gave you guys the official and proper definitions of the word feminism from two different English dictionaries. I'll repeat them for convenient sake http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/feminism http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/feminism I do accept that the interpretation of the word due to a modern negative perception has changed and it now has a negative connotation but that doesn't change the fact that the proper meaning has nothing to do with sexism or saying women are now better than men
  11. Sorry Nonek but your wife is not exactly going to be objective, after all she is your wife. If you want an opinion about something you aren't sure of around SJ issues or whether you can do more about a particular situation ask me. I'll be polite but honest
  12. *Sigh* Suggesting that the "Ban Bossy" and Anita 'n' Kotaku brands of activism belongs in the same category as human rights groups is a bit delduded, and frankly a bit insulting to the latter. I would wager most of us who show distaste towards SJWs are referring to the highly antagonistic folks who subscribe to the former groups mentioned in the previous sentence. I'm don't mean to lecture you but maybe you should be more specific then when you make statements about groups of people you dislike , for example if I say "I don't like Chinese people " because of the rude Chinese people who run my local take-away it makes me sound silly and uninformed because I'm allowing a personal dislike of a small representation of an entire nation to shape my overall opinion of that nation. Even if I didn't mean it the perception that gets created about me isn't great. Just something for you to consider .... Comparing dislike of internet activists to racism is stoopid. And being lectured on racism by a White South African is funny. Well I would think my opinion of these matters carries more credibility because of my countries past and Apartheid, I believe I emphasize more with people who are victims of discrimination on numerous levels exactly because I am a South African who does believe in a multi-racial and free society where no one is a victim of any kind of discrimination That's nice. I bet some of your best friends are Black too. Not my best friends but I do have black friends and work colleagues.
  13. No offense but you guys need to start looking more introspectively and honestly at the reasons why you really seem to object to certain SJ changes. I am not going to presume to tell you why you think certain things, only you can know why you have a certain opinion on a matter. But I'll say this, you shouldn't be seeing this someone preaching to you, you should see this as someone saying we need to make certain changes to games in the interest of inclusivity. Its only a negative change if you see it as one Some feminists want to cut men's **** off but you wouldn't accept that as an argument. No those types of comments are unhelpful and counter productive so I wouldn't support or ever condone comments like that from anyone
  14. What of her points are valid ? Once you parse out all the name calling she's engaging in (go go SJW). Seems more like an attack on strawmen. I agree she is probably a little critical and vituperative but lets take the emotion out of her post for a second. What she is basically saying is much of this discourse on forums around Anita and other feminist issues is based around a dislike of the changes to the status quo. For example look at this link she mentioned http://www.theglobeandmail.com/technology/digital-culture/dont-believe-the-conspiracy-gaming-has-bigger-problems-than-corruption/article20230850/#dashboard/follows/ You cannot justify someone saying " that women needs to be raped " to teach them a lesson and the abuse heaped against Zoe from some is egregious and does smack of misogyny. In summary she feels, and I agree with it on many areas, the main reason for all this resistance to SJ issues is from people who fear change as they feel threatened that the gaming kingdom of the while male is changing. But guys these changes are good and we should welcome them. No one is suggesting we become marginalized but we must become more accepting of new demographics
  15. Its the fanbase that is changing and therefore the product needs to adapt. Because not all the new fans will be happy with the status quo which is understandable in some cases
  16. I don't even understand what he is trying to say. IMO what he is really saying is that the original target and fanbase of development companies consisted of a certain demographic, white males. This is now changing as the target audience becomes more inclusive and there is a resistance to this change as games evolve to cater for this new audience He makes some valid points..and I hate to say this but haven't I been saying this for ages?
  17. He do just what Russian people do want be doing. Actually he has been criticized for too cautious actions, people do want more warlike ruler than Putin. In other words your problem is not Russian ruler but Russian people. If you want solve this you must do want total extermination of Russians, but i fear you not to hardcore for such things. Anyway nobody has possibility to do this and this means foreigners must shut up and stop interfere in events on our territory (all ex-USSR space), all what happened there is our internal business... If they want to live of course. You see that's where you misunderstand the Wests intentions, the West isn't interfering. The West is trying to guide Russia to achieve its full potential and continue to work to become an important member of the international community, because we live in a global world and you don't want to end up ostracized like North Korea
  18. Volo to be honest you are generalizing now, remember we discussed this and there are different definitions of feminists. The more militant type of personality, like Anita, has perhaps hijacked the normal definition of a feminist which just wants gender equality in society and in the eyes of the law
  19. Guys no need to stress, I can guarantee you the game will have very few bugs in the next 24 months and all of this concern will just be a bad memory
  20. No, I'm an English South African

Just something for you to consider In my experience SJW refers exclusively to the belligerant online activists and not the legitimate IRL activists, so there's really no need to specify Okay fair enough because lately the general criticism and "dislike" from some people hasn't just been about SJW but people who are concerned about SJ issues. But I'm glad you can differentiate between the two groups because there is a difference
  23. I do have sympathy for the Ukrainians but they are exaggerating a bit, they are saying this is a full blown Russian invasion and the fate of Europe is threatened. I know they are saying this as they are obviously emotional and concerned but we need to keep things in context. This is not a full blown Russian invasion

  25. I don't think its sexist to make an informed decision to not play a certain game because of a certain game design decision? Aren't we allowed to play the games we want to?
