  1. I don't mind the questions. I think I'll need to sit down and think it through before giving a real answer. At the moment, I've had my hands full just surviving and ensuring that I also had a place to sleep the day after tomorrow and if nothing else, I've become an expert in public transport systems using everything from bus to s-bahn, u-Bahn, tram and train to a large number of suburbs (in all compass directions) where I've crashed for the night in hotels. In short, most of my contact with Berlin and its people has been colleagues, commuters and hotel staff. Not a sufficient demographical representation When you get time I am interested in the cultural differences, I have been to Berlin but that was on holiday on the way to skiing in Austria I imagine many things will be similar to Oz, they are both first world Western countries but there will obviously be some differences
  2. Its not that you may be wrong Nonek, you are unquestionably wrong But on a serious note, I battle to take you seriously when you make suggestions like " there has been no harassment from the GG side " Almost everyone who has been following this debate knows there has been severe harassment on different levels from extremists from both sides. So please lets try to have this debate in the realm of relative accuracy ?
  3. No the reason GG needs to shutdown is its utterly tainted. Its not going to achieve anything because of the extremist element that has hijacked its motives. Close it down and start some kind of group that can be regulated and raise the valid issues that you guys feel need to be raised You cant expect people who are influential in the gaming industry to support it because of the rampant bigotry displayed by some of the members of GG And no this doesn't mean I am saying you guys are bigots, I consider you moderate supporters of GG No. This would happen to absolutely any and all movements that go against the current social justice clique. it does not matter. They will always focus on the fringe that will always be present in any movement that is massively popular and paint everyone with the same taint through the power of their megaphones. A regulated group would change nothing the same way that the fact that the people who sent death threats don't even do it through the GG hashtag and it matters not. They will seek and find the supporters of your regulated group whom they can use to discredit you and pin them straight on you. Then demand you shut down because people are using your cause for harassment. Okay let me try to explain this a different way What is the objective of GG? Everyone can respond, give me the 2-3 main objectives that GG endeavors to achieve

  5. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/10/14/review-rpg-grimrock-sequel/ Legend of Grimrock 2 review. All I can say is " wowzers", it looks good And it appears harder than the first one
  6. You keep saying this, OK I'll bite. Why does it not make sense for ISIS to cross the border? Th You keep saying this, OK I'll bite. Why does it not make sense for ISIS to cross the border? The main reason this is highly unlikely IMO is that ISIS is a group that is based in Syria and Iraq, they only get people joining them from Western countries. They aren't exporting there members yet because ISIS is actively involved in daily combat in those countries. It would be like saying the Taliban are going to cross the Mexican border into the USA, the Taliban are based in Afghanistan and Pakistan ISIS isn't like Al-Qaeda who has a nebulous and amorphous structure of cells around the world. For ISIS the current objective is to create a caliphate within Iraq and Syria. So they aren't concerned at the moment with directly attacking the USA. They just don't have the logistical structures to do this This may change if they are able to establish there own caliphate but this isn't going to happen so I really don't think ISIS fighters crossing into the USA is a likely outcome
  7. I guess the question should be, is there one I haven't tried (Cobol, Algol and Fortran)? Past exploits covers LISP, Smalltalk, Pascal, C, C++, C#, VB, ASP, T-SQL, Forth. Various 8, 6, 16 and 32 bit assembly languages, Proprietary APL for various applications (E.g. Ingress and similar), a smattering of Java and probably a handful obscure things that I've forgotten about. These days, I mostly do ERP Systems for corporations (finance, order handling, point of sale systems, process/project control, manufacturing, supply chain, e-commerce, warehouse management etc.). As for reasons, it was work related (too many years in one place) I'm impressed, you are an experienced developer ( and I don't mean to dismiss people who know VB or HTML only ), C and C ++ are real building block languages. If someone knows them I consider them " hardcore " Good to know, how are you finding Berlin? What are the people like and the culture compared to Oz. Do you have friends there ? Sorry to inundate you with all these questions, I am just interested when people make these types of moves how they find it
  8. I don't understand why that is an issue Monte If you think the game is worth it then invest the time, isn't your consideration the same for all games we might play ? But what if it's crap? Then I'll have to invest 100 more hours complaining about it on the internet- that'd be not just 100 but 200 hours wasted! Yeah that's a valid point

I hope so, I really hope so ....
  11. For me the irony and humour around all this venting directed towards Bioware games is its always the same ritual. People complain bitterly about how EA has destroyed the once great company of Bioware People complain bitterly how there games just aren't as good as they use to be and how the Bioware model of RPG is gone forever People really attack how terrible there games are even to the point of making videos to show us how " they spent dozens of hours of playing game x" and really are informed about its faults Bioware releases next ME and DA game and everyone plays it The cycle of criticism starts all over again
  12. Not a cent. I live in the wondrous world of software development Gorthfucius what languages do you program in and if you don't mind me asking why did you decide to leave Oz for Germany?
  13. http://www.pcgamer.com/far-cry-4-trailer-is-all-about-survival/ Far Cry 4 trailer, looks good ....very good
  14. That is as much as objective as to asking Von Däniken why the US government is hiding UFOs. Is it to much to ask for a sociology scholar/professor, with no previous affiliation with feminism, to conduct some research? But do we now dismiss any opinions from feminists as "automatically biased " ?
  15. Good points, you right. They can't get much lower in my view
  16. That includes removal services, insurance, flights, short stays in Singapore and Denmark along the way, almost 2.5 months of living in hotels from from pulling up the tent plugs to unlocking my own door with my own key again on a different continent. It probably ended up costing me 20-22k Euros Is your work helping with the transfer costs, what do you do for a living Gorthfucius. Are you a PM?
  17. Really? You don't think active slavery is another appalling decision of ISIS around there implementation of fundamentalist Islam It definitely doesn't endear them in anyway
  18. Anyone who would believe Hunter's claim which makes no sense, came from a rumor he misunderstood, and hasn't the slightest shred of evidence for is definitely a willing dupe. Haven't you realised by now Namutree, Vals is the only one who knows the truth about how the world really operates. The rest of us just bumble along in a state of blissful benightedness
  19. http://www.wired.com/2014/10/trolls-will-always-win/ Guys here is a long but informative read about the pernicious outcome and organised strategy that Trolling has. It also covers the abuse that women receive online when they are perceived to threaten the status quo.
  20. You make this sound like a bad thing. Does Gorths comment resonate with you Malc, I imagine you can identify with that type of troll personality
  21. It interesting you make that point because I normally firmly believe the " book is always better" , like Game of Thrones TV series vs Game of Thrones books But in the case of The Strain I wonder of the books will be better because if you read the books you will more than likely become more critical of the TV series and the excitement will be ruined. So I would also hold back on reading on the books for the moment
  22. This will be my first vote, I say the end of February 2015
  23. I also think people sometimes throw around the word "Troll " when convenient or when they don't share a certain perspective So in other words, " I don't understand how user X can say that, he must be trolling "
  24. Who the HELL said this? Outside of this thread? Only a lot of people. You'd be shocked how many people are willing to say this out loud, type it on the internet for everyone to see, and act like it's normal. It's sickening. Inside of this thread? it's the phrases like "the industry needs to stop doing X and think of what it is teaching society" kind of nonsense. This convo suddenly reminds me of that time I challenged a SJW to name a game developer, gaming journalist or strong GamerGate proponent who's said something sexist. Lo and behold, no one can actually name one beyond pointing at anonymous Youtube comments on videos about Anita or Zoe Quinn. Your observation or point wasn't relevant back then and its still not relevant I did explain this to you when you asked the question. No developer who cares about his job is going to publically say " I don't think women have a place in gaming or there is no point considering what appeal my game may have for gay fans " Obviously not, this open bigotry would more than likely lead to that person being fired. So there is no point asking "show me an example of a developer saying he doesn't like women" But its more what people don't say or rather there lack of interest in relevant transformation that should be a concern
  25. I was researching the history of The Strain because I really enjoyed the series and its based on a series of books. So if the series continues to gather support then we should be seeing about 5 seasons to cover the whole story. Which is good news
