Look, another thing we agree on: let's forget religion. Look, a whole bunch of things we disagree on. By prohibiting abortion you will disable victims of rape to abort they're child. By prohibiting abortion you will disable poor women who did not intend to get pregnant from aborting the child. That woman may not be able to afford her own life, needless to say that of a child's. So, rather than saving one life by prohibiting abortion, you are ruining two lifes: that of the mother who needs to witness her child growing up in agony, and the child who grows up in agony itself. By prohibiting abortion you will disable women who carry children with a major genetic disorder firm aborting the child. So, what kind of existence are you saving? You may save a exitence, but you destroy potentially two, three, four or however big a family may be lifes. And one of those destroyed lifes, and in some cases the most destroyed life, is the one you were so keen on saving. Aside from no one can pinpoint from where exactly life begins, there you have the crux of the problem. As carriers of life, it's ultimately the responsibility of the woman for bringing the child to this world. By extension is it not then society's moral duty to nurture values for women to make sure that they pick partners who can provide for them safety, both financially and emotionally, so that any child, accidental or not, is brought to this world with minimal suffering? And for the men to be virtuous and choose women who have these values when they look a partner for their future family that they have to provide? Sadly these kinds of discussions have been pushed away from pop-culture and can only be found in the domain of the religious. This post is silly and sexist and offensive but I also think you trolling But maybe Im misunderstanding your point, can you define society's moral duty to nurture values for women : What do you mean by society's moral duty ? What morals are we referring to? nurture values for women: Who decides what these values are? Are members of the LGBT community included in these values? to make sure that they pick partners : How would we make sure....should we decide on the best partner with the women?

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...the Democrats are going to rig the election....waaaaaaaaaaaaaa Stop whining LK, the election isn't rigged. Its a very tight race based on two very different ideological views of what " makes America great " Its almost impossible to predict who will win, well I wouldnt try in this current climate. But the result will be the fair result. Either Trump or Clinton will be legally elected , you must learn to accept this Bruce I'm having an awful day so how about you take your ignorant bias stance and shove it up your ass so no one has to sit through and deal with another episode where we spend two pages highlighting how outrageously stupid and bias you are again? LK you seem like you in a bad mood? What happened ...do tell

The instant that you can carry that child as the father, I will agree with you. This is the real point and the most relevant It is 100 % the women's choice until men are able to have a baby, once this happens of course it is the man and womens choice That doesn't mean the women cant or wont consider what the man has to say on the matter. An abortion is understandably emotional and difficult on numerous levels for men and women But the final decision to have an abortion is up to the women

Examples?Major examples would be abortion, gay marriage, immigration enforcement and voter id's.I do not know enough about most issues to comment on them, but the right to abort and gay marriage sound pretty good to me, wouldn't you agree? That depends on your views. The right generally sees abortion as murdering babies. The left doesn't see babies as human until they are born so see it as a womens health thing. So the courts enforcing a woman's right to murder babies doesn't sound like something super cool. I'm pro choice, to a certain degree, but I can understand the other side. Abortion is a womens choice, no one should have a right to tell any women what they can or cant do with there bodies Abortion is also a very traumatic and emotional experience to go through so its important to be supportive if you know anyone who had an abortion. It can be hard for many men but trust me the majority of women suffer emotionally much worse than most men

Hey Bruce - if you're that bad I take back everything I said in the election thread. And I'll be sticking the middle finger up at you virtually when Trump wins. Chippy for the last 18 months I have been endeavoring to make volo a better person and have more empathy towards various SJ campaigns Its hard work and sometimes I feel my efforts are unappreciated by volo ?

False, not only do I absolutely believe in real freedom I am as free as I want to be ..I see freedom all the time and every single day What do you mean by " real freedom " ?

Because you make this argument (I think) that a logical person sees Alex Jones talking about human>animal splicing by reptillian overlords as just as ridiculous as CNN making an excuse for Hillary Clinton not knowing that 'C' meant classified. That we should see the facts of Alex Jones reporting that the president of Haiti accuses the Clinton foundation of attempting to bribe him, and defrauding the people of Haiti as just as valid as CNN reporting on the 'hot mic'of Trump saying he can grab a woman by the _____ So you make the case that people have lost the ability to present and acknowledge facts, that views are discredited that don't align with a persons narrative, that facts should be based on profession/life experience. Then you pivot, and say that Hillary Clinton (is perfectly suited for the role) or just as bad as other presidents, and on her worse day/scandal is leagues above Trump???. Do you work for the FBI? Have a way of sifting the facts that support that opinion from those that don't? The real wikileaks and emails that haven't been planted by the Russians?. You seem to be so far to the left, that it doesn't occur to you that people may not see Trump as worse than any other candidate in lifetimes of voting - in fact, take that opinion to any migrants that have come to America from Haiti to vote and see what they think of it. Let me just set the record straight....again for the umpteenth time around my view of Hillary Clinton There are only 2 choices for US president. It becomes a subjective debate about who is better and who is worse IMO and the view of many economists, world leaders and political commentators Hillary Clinton is the better choice for president. I agree and support this view. No this does not mean people who support her think she is perfect or that she doesn't have a degree of controversy around her. It is highly unlikely there is any politician in this world who someone doesn't have an issue with or is the target of legitimate criticism But again the issues people have with Hillary Clinton compared to what Trump says, thinks or his constant demagoguery are not in the same league. So in summary Trump is a much worse candidate for the US presidency Finally why would I take anything Wikileaks says when its clear they have an agenda to undermine the spirit of the US elections by their selective release of emails that ONLY seek to undermine the Democrats and therefore make some people constantly question the legitimacy of the overall election process. Just for the record how many emails have been released by Wikileaks that undermine Trump and or the Republican political campaign? Does this not seem strange to you or are you happy to support a movement that only targets one side. And yes Russian hackers are absolutely involved in these attacks on the US election I hope that clears up any misunderstandings you may have about my support for the Democrats Plus I think the suppression of free speech, property rights, privacy, and big government hubris all enforced at gunpoint appeals to you. Well, the Democrats are definitely your team there. GD it hurts my feelings when you say nasty things There is a role and function for big government. It just mustn't be gratuitous or too intrusive so that it leads to a dictatorship

I do not know enough about most issues to comment on them, but the right to abort and gay marriage sound pretty good to me, wouldn't you agree? No, but it's not the question of whether I agree or not, it's the question of "what does the law say?" WOD many laws need to evolve and adapt to the social conditions of the time ....or they become redundant and criticized

Vice president takes over, no crisis

Im also confused on some of the specifics but your point seems valid as a reason to argue " parliament has already agreed to this ". Are we sure there was this parliamentary motion that carried legal precedence in respects to what Article 50 states or rather my question could be " does a motion carry the same legitimacy as a vote in the UK parliament." I'll be honest I have no clue but I will be consulting people I know who do understand this And also surely the UK high court would have considered this as very important evidence in its final verdict? Because this would have fundamentally changed the ruling ?
-
But the theme is Western? You can't really expect that to change can you, for me the whole Western theme is just an aspect of the narrative....the real excitement are the other plot developments like ... " what is the Maze" " how influential is Arnold " " how much consciousness and sentience do the clones\robots have in RL " ...I'm sure we all watched the last episode and the awakening at the end, very exciting
-
The decision by the high court does have some legitimacy. One of the core objectives of people who support Brexit is to return power to the UK parliament. Therefore surly the decision to trigger article 50 needs to be a made by the UK parliament? Article 50 states " Any member state may decide to withdraw from the union in accordance with its own constitutional requirements.” This link discusses this https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/25/article-50-brexit-debate-britain-eu So now in the UK you could definitely make the case " the UK parliament needs to agree on Article 50, its not just up to the UK PM" Its an interesting development and this may need a new vote in the UK to see if Theresa May has a mandate or legal rights to initiate article 50 and leave the EU?

This could potentially derail the whole Brexit move, its quite a serious development

How did I shoot myself in the foot?

Well it's a whole cluster **** TBH. It's driving home to a lot of people that the media is not un-biased and depending on ur party is which news station to watch. It's also a election where 2 people are SOOO bad that people are voting to make sure the other one doesn't win, not that they actually think theirs is a good candidate. The ones who DO think theirs is an actual good candidate for the most part is being selective in what they hear and agree/disagree (aka meaning "it doesn't matter to me that such and such has done this bc the other has done so much worse!" or "what they doing isn't so bad or it's just lies even when it's there in their face"). This whole election has been dirty from both sides and each side doesn't wanna admit that theirs is dirty bc then they'd be "wrong" and not a "winner".Then people gonna realize that their votes don't actually count and that it's up to the electoral college who wins, not the voters. Also this is basically our national anthem when it's election time. Red...at least we can still get stoned That never lets us down
-
No I dont ignore any news story I disagree with...whatever gave you that idea ? I am the opposite, I only believe stories that can be proven or are irrefutably logical

Well if you've been reading my posts you know what I think. Trump is a political neophyte who does not have the temperament, character, the education, or the experience to be a political leader and should not be anywhere near a positions of real power. He seems to have no idea what the President actually does and can't do and has no core philosophy that motivates him and drives his actions. He is wholly ill suited to be President. Hillary Clinton is irredeemably dishonest and thoroughly corrupted. She embodies every negative quality of the cartoon caricature of a bad politician. She will say anything, stoop to any level, kill if needs be to obtain political power. And not to achieve any end in particular, just for it's own sake. She lies without even thinking and then denies ever doing it even when confronted about is. She is wholly ill suited to be President. One of these two will be the next President, God help us, and we will all be damaged by that. Not from them. We've had bad Presidents before. They seldom do lasting harm. But the level of nastiness in the electorate against the folks voting the other way seems worse now than ever before. And the worst part is it is not done in favor of a candidate most of the time but in opposition of the alternative. And neither of these two are worthy of the passion and acrimony this is ginning up. And that is the saddest part of all. GD lets say you had to define which candidate is worse in certain ways Dont you agree you would be more embarrassed as a US citizen under a Trump presidency? As you correctly say " He seems to have no idea what the President actually does" ?
-
Nothing, Clinton is one of the most qualified and experienced candidates to ever try to win the presidency She is very suitable
-
This is a very good post and offers some accurate insights, the paragraph below is particularly annoying when people keep repeating it An example in these very threads is the whole "Clinton has laughed at a rape victim" statement, which is easy to debunk, and has been debunked here, but that doesn't everyone and their mother of rolling out that utterly baseless statement again and again.
-
Nah, the media isnt so bad GD you just need to be selective in what you view and choose to believe, you can always verify stories and reporting perspectives ?
-
Its awesome, you wont be disappointed and its got brilliant actors like Ed Harris and Anthony Hopkins
