The real influence of populism\nationalism in the EU

http://electionado.com/canvas/1479173071893 Another guy blacksplaining white working class. It's like me writing an essay "the third trimester and what to expect". For a while I considered you a bigot because you said several very offensive things and you didn't seem to understand why what you said was unacceptable But you haven't said anything for a while that was offensive ( calling me names is irrelevant ) so someone spoke to you and I think you doing very well so well done -

Renzi had the best interests of Italy in mind, he was trying to restructure the bloated and impotent levels of government bureaucracy Italy is one of the PIGS countries who has not managed there own economy effectively, it gets tiresome and irritating that the old Europe countries seem incapable to make the relevant and necessary guts in government spending and government structure that every other EU country has been able to maintain Italy now will continue with austerity because the Italian parliament refuses really to care about its citizens future -
How many people will be at the Xmas party you going to this year? Weren't there 40 or so last year ....its your wife's family right ?

The real influence of populism\nationalism in the EU

Oh I meant to tell you, our predictions about the USA election and basically getting the outcome completely wrong must not be seen as a reflection on the failure of our views on SJ. I am just using the words "us " to include anyone who supported Hilary because of the view they considered Trump offensive and utterly unpresidential volo said to me on another thread " I was wrong about Clinton ". But I wasnt wrong about Clinton, the word " wrong " actually trivializes the election and the unexpected results. You can use that word if you made a bad call after critical thinking about something But my issues with Trump were not just mine but part of what the majority of people in the USA thought, most Republicans thought Trump would lose Many people I know who are Republican supporters didnt even watch the election because they assumed Clinton would win So what does this tell us? This election was an anomaly and therefore unpredictable because something unprecedented but necessary happened. The data was inconsistent and misleading .... I cant hold myself responsible for that I have already taken some constructive lessons from this -
This is a very interesting debate, I can completely understand why the sentence was so lenient. Why do think she should have kept the baby that she never knew about and was the result of rape ?
-
You have raised a good point which does surprise me at times, for example why do you Canadians copy the Americans all the time? For example you seem to watch TV series that all come from the USA...whats wrong with watching local content only?
-
WOD I never know when you joking, would you really be okay with California leaving the USA in some sort of alternative universe? Wouldn't you feel a sense of loss because California is considered one of the iconic US states for foreigners...Texas is also by the way

I forgot to actually respond to what you asked ..my bad These elections tomorrow are significant because they will be a benchmark to see how much political support nationalism and right wing politics has in the EU\ So lets say the right wing Austrian party wins and the Italian PM loses ....this will be a huge setback for the future of the EU and will suggest where the French election is going \ -

I dont generally agree with Farage because I see the EU as a good system of creating economic union and prosperity but he makes very convincing arguments and I would argue many people on this forum would support his views He is not some kind of zealot and he has been right around certain predictions so maybe he will be right about the demise of the EU? -
http://edition.cnn.com/2016/12/02/opinions/italy-referendum-preview/index.html http://www.dw.com/en/trumps-shadow-looms-over-austrian-election/a-36594430 NIgel Farage claims the year 2016 is the year that will be remembered as the " end of the EU " He attributes Brexit and the Trump victory as irrefutable proof that " the forces of global nationalism are inexorable, implacable and inevitable " I think he is wrong but the elections in Austria and Italy will be interesting to see how much influence his type of ideology has in the post Trump and post Brexit world These elections are symbolically very important to the EU

volo I am of the opinion women are mentally stronger than men on an average. Men are better at some things so it balances out
-
I wouldn't force women to fight in the first place. There's no equality on this issue, men are natural killers, women are not. If they volunteer, that's a different story. This. I thinking drafting women is uncivilized for a number of reasons. If they want to fight, ok, but they have to be placed in suitable combat situations. Front lines or close quarter combat, they just wouldn't be as effective. Also, women combatants would have much more to lose if they were captured by the likes of Isis. You guys do realize that the military isn't entirely infantry and special forces, right? Most women would not qualify for those roles, hell, a lot of men don't even qualify for them This is making me think it's even a better idea than I did before because hopefully people like you would then oppose any unnecessary war that might require a draft Shady when you trained for the marines before you were deployed how many women did the marine training in your unit? Basic training and combat training are segregated but your MOS(military job) school is coed. Field exercises and weapons training are coed as well but often you are not with just your unit especially with larger exercises. There weren't many women in my unit but I couldn't give you an exact count, my platoon had 1 or 2 depending on the deployment So the 1-2 women in your deployment didnt do the same physical training you did which I would expect ? The reason I ask is in movies like Full Metal Jacket you see this, IMO, really rigorous basic training that marines are subjected to and I am genuinely wondering if a women would be able to compete at the same level as men? 4 Let me ask the question a different way. When you were in Iraq were the women doing the same job as you as direct deployment or did they do other jobs like signals, medical, transport , intelligence etc.

Anyone who's serving could potentially be in a combat situation. If you're not ever going to have a draft, there's no point of registering. Once they're registered, what's to stop an SJW president from sending them into combat? Look here, Wrath of Dagon, I actually naturally feel the way you do. I would not let my mother, wife, or sister jump in front of danger before me. I agree that men have a hero complex and that is no where more apparent than in the United States pretty much through it's entire history. However, if women *really* want to be equal, then they must have equal stake and equal risk. I think ShadySands hit the nail on the head, and it's something I've been trying to get across. Most people don't serve in actual combat roles. You're right that any service member can end up in combat, but those situations already exist and women have already seen them. Not to mention women flying in what is essentially combat roles as helicopter pilots. Volourn has a point about the sexism to men, and I agree with him. I'm kind of scared of him too, so I won't critique his manner of saying it, but the truth is the truth. However, it's also sexist to women. Either they are our equals in terms of facing danger or they are our charges and we must decide what is best for them. It does a great disservice to women to pretend that we must protect them by denying them the right to fight for God, Country, and loved ones. But we need to use common sense and be logical when we say " we need to consider women as equal to men in society " This applies to things like gender pay gap, women's right to abortion, women's right to decide what career they want " etc. But we not talking about women being equal in every facet of society because there are real physiological differences between men and women and sometimes you will put women at a major disadvantage if you want them to be treated completely equally to men For example in contact sports like rugby, football, american football men and women teams dont compete against each other for obvious reasons ....so I'm unclear how men are being discriminated against like volo suggests?

You beat me to it, rat bastard! I was going to say that men wanted women around in order to take a bullet for *them.* Hey saving a lady's life is probably a decided advantage in getting her to sleep with you. Of course, knowing some of the Wandering Monsters I've seen, you might rather not. But guys dont you think its normal for men to put themselves in danger before a women has to, obviously I mean in a non-military environment Its the same principle when a ship is sinking. The expected way passengers are saved is " women and children first " I doubt I would jump on a lifeboat before a women or a child?

Bennie I appreciate the effort you putting into these types of posts. Im not sure why some people who dont agree with what you say have to be rude or dismissive..just ignore them So for me the discussion around ideology should be kept simple. I consider Marxism, Socialism ( Cuba style ) Communism and other similar ideologies to all have the same problems. They dont work or rather they dont sustain or allow for real economic growth You must read this book https://www.abebooks.com/Civilization-West-Rest-Niall-Ferguson-Lane/20784218654/bd?gclid=CODYpJ3y1dACFUG7Gwod69cC6g Niall Ferguson is one of the worlds most respected and prominent historians and he answers the question " why did the West win the Cold War " In summary no Communist\Socialist society can match the economic output of a Capitalist driven economy So when we discuss alternative systems of government in the year 2016 the most relevant question should be something like " can you match the economic output of the free market " History tells us so far this is not possible so Capitalism is the best system to drive any economy. After the 2008 crisis all Western countries and the various private sector industries recognize there is no such thing as " pure Capitalism " so you correct with that view So we now have countries like the USA which are hybrid economies where the private sector does drive the economy but government is also involved around good governance and ensuring compliance in sectors like the banking sector. The CEO of Goldman Sachs summarizes this http://money.cnn.com/2015/02/24/investing/lloyd-blankfein-china-capitalism-goldman-sachs/

Logan's and Billy's narrative is based on Dolores' memories and we have seen her mixing up happenings in her head and seeing Billy in places and times where he wasn't actually. They are both different people from RL and are participating in different narratives that may align...what am I missing?

I suppose its possible, how long has the institution been in operation? Maybe 15-20 years so maybe Arnold was only alive in the beginning? But it is odd because they would have digital pictures of him for security?

Its these types of comments from you I find redeem your more offensive ones ...you do make me laugh at times " illegal Muslims "

Guys its seems fatuous to keep objecting to the recount now, I was watching an interview with Sanders and he said this is perfectly legal and the Republicans may ask for one in NC? Lets get this recount over and done so we can move on to addressing other issues. I cant see even if Hilary wins these states how does this even change her standing in electoral colleges. She has already won the popular vote but Trump will still win the overall election

Yes you right in certain ways because we cannot ignore the reality that the Colonialists, which are my ancestors as you know, did rule for 300 years or so and you will find certain flaws and dysfunctions in the first African leaders which is a contributing factor to the fact that every single African country the French and British gave back was bankrupt by the 1980's ...except for Botswana Take a quick look at this map and see how many countries that was and notice the date they got there independence https://rachelstrohm.com/2014/02/01/african-colonization-independence/ But you have made me think about something you may find interesting, I think you have some deep SJ values which I always think is a good thing. You probably more critical than I am about things like colonialism Have I ever told you about the true nature of Apartheid? It made me a better person ....but its a grim story but real and meaningful. Let me know if you want to know ?
-
No thats untrue as well I know the history of Africa since the British and French decided to give independence to all their colonies in 1957, Ghana independance , till now very well and Im always updating and refreshing my views as some things change due to those radio talk shows . Both of those leaders made terrible choices long after coming to power. I promise you, I can go into more detail if you interested ?

Please tell me you not suggesting its the US fault for the 50 year destructive rule of Castro?
-
Especially since there are literally millions of them and the great majority had family members who were killed, imprisoned, or fled one step ahead of either. Castro is a historical figure in the same league as (although not as bad as) Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, and on the level of Pinochet, etc. He is wholly undeserving of the praise he has received these last few days from world leaders and the otherwise intelligent people here on this very forum. I do not understand it but there does seem to be a twisted admiration for dictators and mass murderers from some folks who favor a left leaning political ideology. I'm reminded of Obama's effusive praise of Castro and Chavez a few years back and the way certain Democrat Senators fawned over Soviet leaders in the 80's as examples. GD I have raised this with you many times, on this forum there are several members who for various reasons want the USA and the West to fail. Its nothing unusual in the sense there is always someone who wants the USA to fail but most of the general animosity globally towards the West is reduced Anyway these members will always support anyone who is perceived as " anti-Western " ....thats all that matters to them, its okay if the person is a dictator as long as they dislike the USA

Volo I would appreciate if you didn't speculate about what Cubans are, lest of all while i'm around. Reducing an entire group of people to two views just to illustrate a point might be how you get your argument across but I won't stand for such sophistry, specially when its my people you're talking about. Then why dont you give us your views? I would have long commented on SA to avoid exactly this type of speculation We not going to beg you and the reality is I also agree with much of what Volo says
