  1. I imagine in that case they would refund the money. Given the colossal amount of pledges they've received within 24 hours, I doubt they would be compelled to include such anachronisms. Though it is amusing to contemplate.
  2. I'm guessing (from what little info we have) that the magic system will be quite unique seeing as the game is predicated on the souls of PC and their party. Different forms of magic would probably reflect the classes (battle magic for fighters e.t.c) and possibly play quite differently? Resting (and save-scumming) in IE and NWN games did quite remove the challenge and flavour of the spell casting classes. Hopefully they create a system with interesting drawbacks and mechanics which still has that feeling of magic as opposed to merely pressing different buttons which turn on different kinds of flashing lights.
  3. I think poorly done animations and voiceovers really take away from the quality of the game overall. Leaving more to the imagination would be the elegant solution if you can't swing Mass Effect 3 level of cutscenes, which obviously aren't easy or cheap. Given the massive amount of dialogue in the games that this project aspires to emulate, it doesn't make much sense. Except maybe just a short intro to a conversation like the old IE games did. Aye. Me too. This is why I think Isometric would probably be better as I think it has that sort of assumption built in. Whereas other camera angles are implicitly more cinematic and thus almost require a whole bunch of animations and voice over to achieve the same dramatic effect IMO.
  4. It would probably difficult for them to change it from being isometric when they have nearly raised their entire goal with it as one of the core promises with 24 hours. Maybe a hybrid engine with changing camera angles would be possible (The default of which is ISO). I wonder though if the text based nature of the games dialogue is based on the generic expectation that we see the world from an isometric or similarly top down POV. Leaving more to the imagination Whereas from a 3rd person perspective we'd be more likely to expect voiced dialogue and cutscenes as compared to large branching texts. Having silent or only partly voiced cut scenes would be quite weird methinks.
  5. Hmm. Yeah, there is something to be said for hiding those mechanics. Whilst making them explicit gives gamer's explicit goals and gamifies the dialogue. Hiding it can bring the story elements to the foreground. You're less sure of your companions actions because you don't know explicitly if your companions approve of your actions. Being told by the computer that you have gained relationship points really does remove some of the uncertainty and drama from such situations. I'd be in favour of a more arcane method of telling how your companions are feeling (i.e. judging from how they respond to you or other in game mechanics. Walking dead has some interesting moments of this, being left for dead by certain people depending on how you've treated them for example).
  6. Wouldn't mind to see extra OS support as a general principle. Toolset would be pretty great, but I doubt they would give it away (and making it user friendly might take alot of man hours) Of course more lots more single player content/ extra companions or quest lines is always welcome.
  7. I want them to implement easter eggs in ways I do not expect but will be delighted to run across (Developer discretion is what makes them easter eggs really).
  8. Yeah. It's probably got less to do with sex and more to do with philosophy. The good thing about a fantasy world is you can construct hypothetical situations and physical laws in such a way as to create analogous situations to real world problems or even metaphysical conundrum.
  9. Appropriate crate placement is important for an RPG. I'm sure with such a pedigree of developers involved in Project Eternity crate placement will be of the highest degree.
  10. Hmm. Given that the PCs souls seem to be quite important to the setting I imagine that morality or at least philosophy will play into it to some degree. Hopefully it will be with Obsidian's typical panache. Whilst I do like morality being revealed through interaction through the game world I think it can also make an interesting mechanic in terms of the games systems itself. Though too often this means being rewarded for playing a paragon of good or a dastardly moustache stroking villain.
  11. Good to see such a positive vibe for women wearing normal armour and a positive response from a dev to boot!
  12. Seems like this game will be the one that gets me into MMOs. Though i'm not sure how long it will keep me interested. If they can keep generating story content on an ongoing basis that would be enough to keep me paying subscription fees. It will be interesting to see how the whole thing pans out for Bioware. I'm in Australia so am presently waiting on the Amazon delivery which will grant me access. Very jealous of everyone who is playing at present.
