  1. I think thats quite ridiculous, the days of cold war superpower vs. superpower are over and gone. It IS an economic threat though due to the massive outsourcing by western companies resulting in mass unemployment. By assisting in the development of China the living standards can go up and wages rise, effectively killing outsourcing, everyone wins. ..however, since capitalism is based on the uneven distribution of wealth/resources, a billion competitors to the western lifestyle would be bad. Or good, meaning it could be the fall of capitalism. hmm, I think I derailed myself a bit here <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If China ever started to function at their 100% the entire west would collapse. And while China would indeed get up to speed with the western wages, there would be nothing left of the west by the time things would balance out to the standards we currently enjoy. eg. The western textile industry is already in shambles because manufacturers are moving to China, and it's only a matter of time before other branches of industry start completely moving over there. Yes, not particulary capitalistic to oppose their development, but one has to take care of its own, I suppose. It's all fun and games, but when people around you (and in the worst case scenario - you) start losing jobs, we'll see how much you consider the Star Trekian attitude towards busines.
  2. I'm left of Ghandi. And I'm surprised at the number of Ghandi followers in this thread. Usually with this test on other boards, the results have much more variety.
  3. What's the last one? Community made ? Link?
  4. I finally bought TOEE today. And got a another copy of NwN in the same package. No wonder that game has inflated sales its packaged with everything Atari related. Considering I paid about the same as a McDonalds for both I doubt I will be too disapointed. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wait untill you fire up that black hole that sucks all the joy for life out of you.. (that's ToEE if you were wondering)
  5. I'll go with Deus ex 2 too. I had such high hopes for that game. Sometimes I wonder if the developers actually play their games before release.
  6. I guess that makes you an expert, keke. If you consider "balance" using an AM/MK + rifles and sorcs with slight variations against every possible unit, roofles. Just accept it, War3 tactics are nothing more then a one trick pony. Standard hero (40% + usage of DK/AM/FS/DH) choices, standard unit choices, no variation no matter what your opponent does. Same predictable map creeping patterns, same ambush points used in all games.. It's all about micro and only the basic of strategies. Compared to Starcraft, it's a joke.
  7. There is a counter to everything. Human has tanks and gyrocopters, orc has bats and raiders, undead has gargoyles and fiends and Nelf has Hippogryphs, all these units are a strong counter to air. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In theory yes. If you've ever played any higher level games, or at least mid high level games, you'll be disappointed about the "counter" system of the game.
  8. Yes, in PnP you could do different things, but crpgs are limited. And once again, I'll disagree about the last part of the game sucking because of the increased fighting. Fighting against the Sabbat and the rest of the lot was done properly, from my perspective. No amount of talking or any social skill should have convinced the Sabbat to go on their merry way, with them being quite afraid of grandpa waking. And I had no trouble sneaking through the society... and I was brujah clan. The parts I do agree to sucking was the Kuei-jin part, which could have been done better, but it didnt really put me off that much. However, what did put me off was the warrens, which sucked a lot, and was probably the worst part of the game - it reminded me of FPS games, and why I despise them. Otherwise, I found the last part of the game well done - for a computer game mind you. It wouldnt however have killed them to implement one of the options listed (getting some vampire hunters to clean house, etc), but you cant ask too much.
  9. Exactly that, it was too combat orientated in the end, and the Sabbat's lair...oh boy, I thought when I'm out of that hole it only can get better... But that wasn't the case. Instead I had to to fight through hordes of silly Kuei-Jin just to furthermore fight a gigantic snail and so forth... In the end, I became pretty "demotivated"... The point is that I had to put all my XP into combat, so that my charming Toreador mutated into a war machine instead of giving me the choice (as every good CRPG should do) to solve quests in a non-Terminator like manner. But other than that, Bloodlines was great. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So, wait, you would talk out of a fight with the fanatical a) sabbat b) society of leopold c) bloodhunt? r00fles comes to mind. And you could skip the kuei-jin part if you wanted. The last part of the game was fine. And moving to the topic at hand. Serious bugs can be game stopping for me (eg. ToEE), others simply make me annoyed (see KOTOR 1 slowdowns before the patches were released), the minor bugs arent that bad, although a lot of them do leave a bad aftertaste.
  10. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think that world ends sometime after that game. Something about a new world of darkness setting or something.
  11. Hmm, is it just me, or do the new and "larger" NWN 2 forums on bioware's board seem not so big and filled with activity as Atari envisioned? For a board with 2 million users (roofles?) posting seems to be a lot slower then on this board. Then again, it's probably just my imagination.
  12. How about a fantasy MMORPG then move it to Blizzard forums? With the number of people visiting their forums, just think of the publicity the game would have "
  13. In Blizzard's case, I don't particulary find their twists to be anything worthwile - at least in the Warcraft sage. The first 3 steps of destroy evil, enter new evil, evil wins is okay, but then they simply started screwing up the factions and turning them against each other, turning them from good allies into bloodthirsty enemies and thus joining the honourable good guys with the bad ones (as we can see with the orcs teaming up with the undead and restarting the war against the humans). Consistency thrown away just so they can spice up things isnt really my thing.
  14. Actually, that's the storyline of all Blizzard games. Quite predictable after, what, 8 storylines where the villains win and make way for a sequel
  15. r00fles indeed, however having to wait a few months for people to get the popular overdone topics out of their system is boring. Really, one can only take so much of "FR is for moonchkens, DL>FR, epic rules with ninjas and godlike powers plz".
  16. Indeed, now if only people read an (updated) FAQ so they wouldnt repeat every possible topic we've had here.
  17. Yep. Sounds like Xel'Naga to me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think it's the Xel'Naga. If you read SC's manual, the zerg story part, it tells us how the overmind absorbed the Xel'naga into the hive mind - removing all their knowledge. Of course it wouldnt be the first time for developers to contradict themselves.
  18. A million copies eh? That's rather unbelivable. Did MS offer some of their more useful software with the game to offset the "screen saverness"of the game, as Hades put it, ?
  19. I didnt find the last quarter of the game to be bad, in fact I found it to be up to par with the rest of it. There was very little sensless combat, in my opinion. And not to spoil the game, the game would turn sensless if you could indeed talk your way out of the last quarter of the game.
  20. Mmmm.. Jagged alliance. Too bad the game suffers horrible crashes on my computer Now, RPGs.. I'd say, try KOTOR 1 (and 2), NWN, bloodlines, and if you like the RPG genre, and arent put off by "outdated" graphics and engines, get the games like Fallout 1,2 Baldur's Gate 1,2, Icewind dale and Planescape Torment.
  21. Yay, 2 million users eh? Currently, there's 419 of them online. Not such a drastic increase of users from these boards. And at least here, people visited the boards for either NWN 2 or Kotor 2. Who knows how many of the supposed 2 million users will bother with NWN 2 boards.
  22. To the poster above, don't worry, you wont be missing much, from the way posts are going on Bioware's board, it'll take them 6 months to catch up with the discussions we've done to death on these boards.
  23. I'd also be quite happy for a "unofficial" NWN 2 forum here.
  24. War 3 is probably one of the most overrated so called "strategy" games around. And that's not to say there's a lot of good ones around anyway. When each race has only one or two winning "strategies", where everything revolves around how fast your microing is, the game loses its feel. Heroes are what made the game so .. broken. At higher levels they can take on entire armies, and once you lose a hero, you might just as well surrender. Now, if you consider balance, heh, I don't really consider 1 year of caster craft, 6 months of ancient abuse, 6 months of beastmaster abuse and of course, who could forget, the ever on going hero nukes, I wouldnt call that a job well done in the balancing department.
