DS3 Demo: High Praise from a long time Dungeon Siege series enthusiast.
Well someone posted a screenshot of an 8 hour savegame (apparently the game auto saves at the end- the auto save was there too), but that went down with a troll thread. Whether that's proof or not... you decide. 8 hours I can easily believe if you run through (And considering that some places like the gunderic mansion according to the description in the beginning are apparentlay optional). I can believe that with many other games (Especially in a ARPG that has dodge roll). I don't really see what the big deal is about that number though other than the game could be too easy. Bigger Games were run through faster

DS 3 is NOT a DS game
I'm more wondering why DA2 is used as a comparison to anything. Its not like other games didn't do the same things (better in several cases) before.

To forum visitors, don't fall for the glowing reviews, by pc gamesites/users.
Okay, heres an analogy. Now everyones has heard of Lord the Rings. lets suppose the producers of the movie just released LOTR part3, but part3 doesn't have frodo, or the ring, or even sauron. Now using your logic we should still pay to watch part 3 because it doesn't have to be the same to be enjoyable. Thats a really dumb analogy since DSIII very well continues DSIs Narrative and World (and does so with lots of lore) while DSII focused on a different part narrativly. The main difference is gameplay after all.

I've seen similar comments about games like KOTOR I and II, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, etc. People swearing they finished the game in 10 to 12 hours. Every single time, it's taken me twice, sometimes three times the length that person insisted they finished it in. We'll see in a week's time, but I'd be absolutely shocked if it only took 10 hours to finish, if you did *every possible quest*. Maybe following the main quest and rushing through the dialogue, but I can't see it being the case if you actually did the majority of the quests available. It probably depends also on how fast you run through the Dungeon. Me myself I predict to need around 15-20 hours from what we know. Less for future playthroughs.

Ever tried Book of unwritten Tales and Whispered World? Adventures are still going strong in Europe.

Question about Co-op and Trophies/Achievements
I think its fair. Because the guest can not save the progress. And for all: I enjoy to play that game with my friend but we are both Trophy Hunters. And its sad if only the host will get the trophies. Alpha, I agree with you, but only if the guest can save the game process, too. Or do u think it is fair, when I finish the game together with my friend in more sessions, but only he will get the trophie for finishing the game, because he was host? You will get trophies as a guest. You will get trophies as a guest. You will get trophies as a guest. This has been confirmed. Edit: Sorry, misread your post.

And how is this related to reviews? I'm pretty sure the game can be finished in 10 to 15h if you skip sidequests, don't bother with the dialogue at all etc. But then again the same goes to pretty quite many games if you skip content and rush through it. If the game only lasted 10h it would have been mentioned on the reviews we've already seen. You know, from actually legit sources and not from some ADHD kids. ~15 hours from reviews I gathered so its not unresonable even with Dialouge (Also include that this is a game they created from scratch). That said from streams I can already tell that there is going to be a lot of replayability for me since there seems to be a lot of specific dialouge/reactions, gameplay differences between charachters and choices later on. Also thanks to the rather fast pace of the game, replaying won't be such a bother similiar to AP.

Question about Co-op and Trophies/Achievements
Yes and No. Judging from achievements you can't get all of them in one runthrough but yes you can get it as a guest in an online co-op game.

PC Controls Discussion
No No No First off the mouse is actually not as old an peripheral and for a time the keyboard was the only control method. Secondly PC Gaming mid-end of the 90s + very early 00s relied heavily on joysticks regarding many flight sims. That said, naturally the control method in this game is way sub-standard but IMO is workable after putting a little time in it.

Why does this game have the Dungeon Siege name?
That's hardly something fans should be happy about if the resurrected franchise doesn't resemble what they were hoping for in the slightest. To answer the OP, it was Square Enix that preferred to go with the Dungeon Siege brand instead of a new IP Obsidian pitched and proposed the high level concept I think (at least that's what I gathered from various interview both from Obsidian and Square Enix) though I don't think that the concept was anything more than "let's go with an hack'n'slash for consoles". Not that Obsidian is free of blame anyway, they designed the game and decided to go with the direction they went for. 1. It was more (this was the defiance concept) and it isn't the same concept. Said concept is still hanging. DSIII is something different. 2. It was first meant to have a spin-off name but Square Enix wanted it to define the future of the franchise and called it the third. 3. The fans argument is very arguable. As it is in any franchise. Including Fallout (Just to not sound like a hypocrite)

From reports there is also no reebinding in the full version. So don't get your hopes up aside from patches.

do the graphics options actually do anything in this game?
No, they aren't. Test ingame.

do the graphics options actually do anything in this game?
I also have to say that the texture difference is most apparent in the enviroment. Charachter models don't seem to change much.

GTX 580 / 275.33 Texture Quality makes the biggest difference for me.

I just tested it out on mine and there are big differences for me. The art style blurrs the difference a little but still.

GamesAktuell.de Video Review Score isn't posted on the website so far. They mainly praised the differences in Gameplay between the charachters, the enviroments and the design of the dungeons. They critizize the presentation of dialouge sequences (puppet like animations, Charachter Models don't look as good in close-ups) and the PC controls. They gave it a recommendation at the end for every ARPG/RPG Fan and one of them called it "a little more than your typical ARPG".

Well, the backshlash on the PC control system was strong in all respects so its not only DS fans.

That actually brings in a rather uneven experience and is one of the problems. Also the "immediate Ressurecton" mechanic in the demo distorts the experience. Furthermore, going back to Obsidian itself. The core mechanics of Alpha Protocol are not even liked by many people that love the game (and they were way worse there. Truthfully, of all of Obsidians games I actually think DSIII belongs to the ones with the best core mechanics aside from the current control sheme). So, its not that easy to judge. The demo gives you a first impression. If you can't stand it. Then yes, you'll probably not like the final product. But its going way too overboard to judge the entire game by it. And again, the things that were shown in the demo (first hour of gaming) are usually the worst part in Obsidians games. That it is a badly put together demo is fully Obsidians fault though and they will have to live with the customers they lost through it.

Considering how close this was to the apparent giveaway of review copys... I'd think that there were some problems with the Sheme and they just couldn't integrate it in time. Because I really don't think they came up with an entirly new control sheme in this short time. Still hopeful that it gets implented in patches.

I am sad
there. enough with all the Obsidian bashing. if you played any of their games you know what they did and how they did it was dictated by publisher's demands. go wreak havoc on SE forums No, the Game was still designed by Obsidian..... And I like how its designed. So do others as Reviews show. Also again, you are judging the game by what could very well be the worst part of the game. (And from past Obsidian Experiences IS) Also, even in the demo Story and Dialouge are far from terrible. They are competently written but so far just show the Set-Up.

If this game wasn't a DS sequel, and the PC controls were fixed, would there be that many complaints?
Having watched a stream last night. Don't be so quick to judge about "generic" here.
