  1. And of course, we can't have a Christmas thread on the boards without the traditional music... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ic3Yd0rDaoI
  2. Rather than focus on the Christmas plans, how about a thread for all the random assortment of Christmas jollities.... Tor- Neil Gaiman reads A Christmas Carol
  3. <facepalm> Melissa Harris Perry claims Star Wars is racist because Darth Vader is a black guy
  4. Korean Pop band held at LAX after officials accuse them of being sex workers
  5. Well to go with that, there's also the http://www.warof1996.com/ website. Part of a linked "viral" marketing campaign, providing history of the last "20 years" from an in-universe perspective, including how Colonel Hiller (Will Smith) died...

  7. Yeah, it's the thing that the ghouls regenerative abilities basically do the "immortality" syndrome thing. Why there's a Chinese sub with a surviving ghoul Captain in the water. I find it odd he never got around to getting rid of the dead bodies of his crew and left them decomposing in the sub with him for 200 years.. And the Vault-Tec representative who took your details at the start of the game turns up in Goodneighbour.
  8. For those who understand the Japanese Idol thing... Oh the burn...
  9. Did a minor binge watch of all 7 episodes of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. Pretty damn solid throughout, the story of two magicians in England during the Napoleonic War era, with some outstanding performances from the cast.
  10. Ronda Rousey attends Marine Corps Ball
  11. Well, at least Bethesda shifted slightly. In Skyrim they used Claudia Christian for 30 odd characters. Some of them in the same town/village. In this, they just had her as a couple. Her "Mistress of Mystery" on the pulp radio was enjoyably overblown. However, Bethesda did kind of do it again with Brandon Keener (the voice of Garrus from ME) voicing a few score characters... Anyhow, after getting that as an "ending" I really don't think I can be arsed replaying the other factions to get their specific endings. It just feels woefully short of an end goal.
  12. Okay, I just ran it through with the Railroad and got that brief video, and then a kind of "okay, you can play on and we'll throw more radiant style quests at you under the guise of 'cleanup' and you can keep going." Where's the flicker of future's on the various locations and people you met? What's a Fallout game without some view of "long-term" consequences of your actions, choices or inactions as played out post story? That's a let down.

    Too soon?
  14. I think I saw something along the lines of the ship being a Norwegian cargo ship, and the crew all got turned into ghouls when the war started. Since none of them spoke English and they spent all their time fighting off raiders, they became insular and just lurked there. Or something to that effect. More of Bethesda's "environmental storytelling".
  15. Yup, there is a quiet little pub/bar with skeletons set up exactly as the Cheers style. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVvXLoNW8Jw
  16. Heh. I like that Mass Fusion actually gives you an alert that doing it will make an enemy of the BoS.. but then in the BoS quest chain you get absolutely no warning until you pick up a quest that doing so turns the Railroad against you.

Well this ones going to be an odd Christmas. My sister isn't encouraging of Christmas decorations and such, and my father tends to be down on it. Previously, all the Christmas oomph has been my mother and myself. So with her passing, things are just being a little odd. So it's most likely going to be fairly quiet. A brief family gathering, a shared meal, and that'll be that.
  18. Hell, you don't need to spill your guts. Apparently even though they just arrived and the BoS go everywhere in uniform with righteous attitudes, they have an amazingly effective spy network in the Commonwealth and know everything you do regardless of any surviving witnesses that push the plot line forward. Even though I used the Railroad to build a certain device and get into the Institute sneakily, the BoS knew all about it and that I'd come back. It's that kind of thing that nags at my mind.
  19. Well the petition to ban Trump from the UK has become the most popular with nearly 500,000 people having signed it.. Technically it just needed 100,000 to be considered for Parliamentary debate.. UK Petition to ban Donald Trump breaks record
  20. The very few settlements that actually have pools of water? You can stick one Water purifier thingamajig there rather then half a dozen water pumps. They just need power to function. Oh, and if you stick any forms of lights inside the buildings, along with ceiling fans and terminals... You need to hook power up to the building. Kind of annoying, I now have two quests that are clashing but they aren't meant to clash. Or rather, I have one Institute quest that will make the BoS my enemies, but I have the option of telling the BoS about it by talking to Ingram. But I have a BoS quest that finishes by having me talk to Ingram. Unfortunately, it won't let me do that because it will only do the Institute quest option instead of ending the BoS quest. So I can't carry on with the BoS quest line at present.
