  1. Apparently there's an achievement for having a happy settlement, and that pretty much requires things like working TV's connected to power, huge amounts of decorations as well as a whole bunch of level 3 Trader/Doctor stores.
  2. I did watch The Intern. It's one of those pleasant movies. Nothing overly dramatic, action packed, or out-rightly comedic. Anne Hathaway as a slightly flighty, creative type who turned a "started in the garage" internet based fashion seller into a 200+ employee business in the space of 18 months and Robert De Niro as the retiree who gets bored and becomes a member of the "senior intern" programme. Also included is Rene Russo as the office's massage therapist.. It's nice to see De Niro working through a role that isn't some form of heavy, criminal, intense, or comedy spoof based on those styles. He just plays it as that long lived, genial, avuncular type of guy who stays polite and friendly to everyone because he's seen everything and doesn't let it bother him. The comedy for the most part tends to be that subtle, warm-hearted fun rather than blatant one liners or physical slapstick.
  3. And just for the artistic... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tBtuRani-0
  4. If you look at the various things for Power, one of them includes the varieties of connectors? The power line pylons and such? Several of them are things you need to put on a house, and those you can connect the power lines to. Anything within a certain radius of them that needs power in a house will then function, so depending on the size of the house, you might need to connect several together going around it. In fact, this might help : http://www.gosunoob.com/fallout-4/how-to-power-up-a-house/
  5. The Laser Turrets are quite good for ramping up the Defenses, and having power so you can put lights in and around buildings can make things a touch nicer during the night time visits.
  6. And of course, we can't have a Christmas thread on the boards without the traditional music... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ic3Yd0rDaoI
  7. Rather than focus on the Christmas plans, how about a thread for all the random assortment of Christmas jollities.... Tor- Neil Gaiman reads A Christmas Carol
  8. <facepalm> Melissa Harris Perry claims Star Wars is racist because Darth Vader is a black guy
  9. Korean Pop band held at LAX after officials accuse them of being sex workers
  10. Well to go with that, there's also the http://www.warof1996.com/ website. Part of a linked "viral" marketing campaign, providing history of the last "20 years" from an in-universe perspective, including how Colonel Hiller (Will Smith) died...

  12. Yeah, it's the thing that the ghouls regenerative abilities basically do the "immortality" syndrome thing. Why there's a Chinese sub with a surviving ghoul Captain in the water. I find it odd he never got around to getting rid of the dead bodies of his crew and left them decomposing in the sub with him for 200 years.. And the Vault-Tec representative who took your details at the start of the game turns up in Goodneighbour.
  13. For those who understand the Japanese Idol thing... Oh the burn...
  14. Did a minor binge watch of all 7 episodes of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. Pretty damn solid throughout, the story of two magicians in England during the Napoleonic War era, with some outstanding performances from the cast.
  15. Ronda Rousey attends Marine Corps Ball
  16. Well, at least Bethesda shifted slightly. In Skyrim they used Claudia Christian for 30 odd characters. Some of them in the same town/village. In this, they just had her as a couple. Her "Mistress of Mystery" on the pulp radio was enjoyably overblown. However, Bethesda did kind of do it again with Brandon Keener (the voice of Garrus from ME) voicing a few score characters... Anyhow, after getting that as an "ending" I really don't think I can be arsed replaying the other factions to get their specific endings. It just feels woefully short of an end goal.
  17. Okay, I just ran it through with the Railroad and got that brief video, and then a kind of "okay, you can play on and we'll throw more radiant style quests at you under the guise of 'cleanup' and you can keep going." Where's the flicker of future's on the various locations and people you met? What's a Fallout game without some view of "long-term" consequences of your actions, choices or inactions as played out post story? That's a let down.

    Too soon?
  19. I think I saw something along the lines of the ship being a Norwegian cargo ship, and the crew all got turned into ghouls when the war started. Since none of them spoke English and they spent all their time fighting off raiders, they became insular and just lurked there. Or something to that effect. More of Bethesda's "environmental storytelling".
  20. Yup, there is a quiet little pub/bar with skeletons set up exactly as the Cheers style. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVvXLoNW8Jw
