  1. To mildly resurrect this thread from the depths of the past.. For anyone who enjoys the pseudo-Dune style of thing, they currently have a chunk of the Fading Suns RPG at present (and for the next 12 days) Bundle of Holding - Fading Suns Apparently the publishing rights have been acquired by a German gaming company (Ulisses Spiele), and before they start pushing their own plans for the licence they're releasing this batch of the old version via the bundle.
  2. Don't think this has been posted yet ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNMQVcyowss Edit: And Avellone is tweeting a few comments on it as he's watching that interview apparently...
  3. From a Norwegian Newspaper; - If you were stranded on an island, who would you bring along? - I'll take one for the team and bring along Trump.
  4. I'm not sure what it is, it kind of bugs me. I've completed the game before, and that first time I got into it from the get go and could sink large stretches of time playing it at a time. Just the return to it and doing it once more seems to be leaving me cold. Which is annoying because I want to get through so I can finally get around to playing the White March expansion. One minor point that does seem to bug me is all the highlighted characters you can interact with only to find out they're just in for reading their soul and getting the flavour text. So it's almost wading through them while trying to remember who you have to click on to find side-quests and such.
  5. Also, doing the rounds of the internet is Patrick Stewarts response to the Ian McKellen holding the placard of a Picard facepalm... "Inception"
  6. Lucifer was a nice episode. With some good lines and moments, "Who wants to kill me?"
  7. Made another attempt at re-playing PoE. Made it through to the city, got myself into the inn, and then hit that "Right....where's my enthusiasm?" moment.
  8. I think that's part of what makes Modesitt writing work. In a lot of the cases, the protagonist isn't the important part of the book, but rather the specific philosophy, or interesting idea that's the basis for the book is the important part. In fact, I'm pretty sure on a few occasions he's pretty much done the same story, but with the central argument reversed so what was considered "good" in the one story is the "bad" in the other. Like he's done the argument for pre-emptive action versus waiting for evil to act and which is more ethical. Then a few books later, he's run through why the ethical thing is to wait, even if people die. The characters are just a framework for posing the ideas and running through them in a logical manner.
  9. I enjoyed DX:MD for what it was. Plus, the Prague hub was darn good, and the increased verticality added to the whole thing. It's just unfortunate it was about 2/3rds of the story, which left it feeling unfinished and a "wait, is there DLC coming to wrap this up or what?"
  10. Of course, how much of the budget got sunk into the DLC with Deus Ex? And I'd say part of the reason they lost so much was that it all looked incredibly crappy DLC that no-one wanted. Probably because it was such purely stand-alone crud or set in the middle of the story, but couldn't be integrated to the main story.
  11. For some reason I slid back into listening to my old Music from the Succubus Club album... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGjK6hKahU8
  12. Wait, what? I thought you hated Pillars. What prompted you to back this one? I'm pretty sure the discount was sent out to people who backed PoE in general. Not something that waited for you to back PoE2 first.
  13. The Graham Norton Show - With Danny Boyle and the stars of T2 Trainspotting, Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle and Ewen Bremner. A few interesting background stories from them all over the original film, the new one, their friendships over the years and where they are now.
