  1. It was fairly simple here, a novel (Magic Shifts), a Pathfinder sourcebook, the Art of Mass Effect Andromeda, a few bottles of port, some money, and a few other small things.
  2. Enjoy the festivity, and Merry Christmas folks.
  3. Have all the fun, enjoy what you can, and spend that time making memories with your loved ones..
  4. I can always remember getting the explanation of "It's simply good tactics for a man to learn how to cook. When you date, the key point is getting them over to your place at the end of the night. If you cook, you invite them around for a dinner at your place so the night starts with them already there. Then you'll just get bonus points for being able to cook well before you even have to do anything else. It takes the stress off both of you, and you can simply enjoy the conversation and see how it goes." Of course, that side of it you'll probably want to wait a decade or so before you try that on him Hurl..
  5. Caught The last Jedi at the imax tonight. Some ups and downs, can see where they borrowed beats from both Empire Strikes, and Return of the Jedi then tried adding their own twists. For the non-spoilery aspect, I do have to question the whole design and logic of those bombers at the start of the movie. They were.. immensely jarring.
  6. "Me at the end of 2017"
  7. It did have some really interesting visuals and aesthetics. Plus Eddie Redmayne doing some gloriously over the top scene chewing.

  9. Because it's always worth a re-post..
  10. Trying to work on the next draft version of my research paper outline. I'm kind of annoyed by it all. We get told we have to use a specific structure, I get applauded for having different sections for methodoloy, breaking it down into stakeholder groups, how they'll be identified, the questionnaires, the interviews, ... but then it gets ripped to peices and I also get told that its not clear and I have to put everything in each section. Which seems to totally ignore the whole point of having seperate sections talk about them individually.
  11. WCVB - Star Wars fans grant dying wish
  12. On some levels I like the concept..and find it extremely distasteful at the same time.
  13. I do find it kind of amazing how well the stories and characters of the prequel trilogy actually hang together.. when you read the novels compared to when you watch the films. The films are entertaining in one way, and the soundtracks are pretty gorgeous... but the books just actually fill in a lot of what seem like plot-holes or just shift the tone of some scenes and dialogue somehow.

  15. Schumer: "To pass a bill of tax cuts and have it be so unpopular with the American people is an amazing achievement for the Republicans... Great accomplishment, Mitch."
  16. Another plot reason for why Maul was so one-dimensional and focused, and not exactly the smart manipulator. Palpatine intentionally trained him to be that scalpel assassin or general weapon, rather than knowing how to manipulate , plot and play politics. So he could be used as that dedicated follower, highly competent in a narrow field but with specific weaknesses, so he could be eliminated once Palpatine found a "proper" apprentice.
