  4. For something I threw in offhand as a mixture of weird/amusing, that caused a fair chunk of debate....
  5. Then of course there's always those times when...
  6. Eh, I don't know. "This is the 29th day of the fourth month in the year 2018" does seem to flow better and in a more informative manner than "It's the year 2018, the fourth month and its day 29" And considering the metric system was invented by a French Priest, and pushed into adoption by the French Revolution, it works quite well.
  7. While I do consider it more of a weird thing..
  8. Dealing with that slight post partum depression after completing my research paper. Went to have the pause to recover before making a start on the presentation for it next week... Didn't wake up till gone noon, and then had what felt like a godawful hangover (just one without having drunk any alcohol the night before). That slowly cleared up as evenings arrived, and found out my ex just got engaged. Not sure how I feel today all in all.

  10. Watching the 88 pages of my research paper print out... slowly. So slooowly.
  11. When you're putting the finishing touches to your research paper and suddenly realise that for some stupid reason you captioned all your charts as tables instead of figures. Then hav to go back and change 80 odd charts to the correct caption.... I'm classifying that as weird because I've now been awake for the last 29 hours and juggling a few seperate things as I try to get this all wrapped up.
  12. ... I have no words. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8pknnncODo
  13. And since most of it tends to be American politcs under discussion, I like to lurk and throw popcorn over those colonial traitors. Well, that and throw in political jokes. On a random sideline, for the mix of history and politics, I saw an interesting discussion which posited that no revolution in history has ever succeeded on its own. The only revolutions that have worked, have been those that are supported by some outside power. Then as part of that discussion, the point was raised that on certain grounds, the American War of Independence was not an actual revolution per se, but actually a civil war - due to the fact that the organisers and leaders of the American side of things were in the majority cases those people who were in the positions of power in the Americas, and not the underclass that revolutions are made up of.
