I took a pause in Deadfire a couple of months ago, planning to get back into it once the first two DLC's had been released. I don't know why, but I'm struggling to get back into it. I do think one of the flaws is the nature of all opportunities / problems needing to be handled by the first of the next month, regardless of when they actually appear. So you can have nothing, then on the 29th / 30th, you suddenly get a couple. But if you're not paying attention to the kingdom then, or have the needed advisors busy with other things you're just screwed. I mean, fine, have an x day counter for each problem can make sense, depending on the problem But having it automatically be the first day of the next month without thought of when the problem actually appears is annoying.

Hm, I know there are a whole bunch of faction quests that turn up, like "finding the pathfinders", "honor and duty" etc, because I had them show in my first attempt at playing the game. However now it's my second run through with the current bug fixes, and although I've reached Pitax, none of those quests have shown. I'm pondering if I've missed something, if there's some specific actions you take that cause them to kick off or if its just another weird bug.
