The TV and Streaming Thread: US Writers/Actors Strike Edition

That and the women tend not to go stark raving bonkers as they learn. Men go nuts, get noticed, get killed. You get a lot of "low level" women's groups that got kick-started by failed accepted (often under manipulations of Aes Sedai) that generally slid into that wise-woman / healer circle types. Done because it helped wilders survive, and kept providing an easy way for Aes Sedai to find the ones with power / talent without having to trawl through so much chaff. There was a couple of commentaries in the books that wilders quite often got kickstarted by channeling for a specific need, which tended to turn up in a fairly shallow array of talents : a quick healing, a way to remain hidden, a way to talk to someone distant. So again, developing healing abilities is one of the natural turns of wilders in the WoT setting. -

What You've Done Today - We do not remember days, we remember moments

Heh, I don't actually know. Part of the reason I was grabbed was to handle a bunch of the cosplay stuff at the other side of the Con to enable the Cosplay crew and staff to focus on the WCS part. I was actually helping out with some leatherworking workshops before the shibari tutorial during the WCS events. Then after, everyone was just crashing for the end of the day rather than talking about it. I did want to see Tabitha Lions (ArtyFakes) rush build she'd done as a challenge. Produce a WCS entrance Cosplay in under a month. -

Did the MCM London Comic-Con this weekend. Originally with everything going on I didn't think I'd be able to attend, so I didn't volunteer to be a steward. Then last week everything clicked and I realised I could attend Friday and Saturday. Turned up, and was like "Wow, first time in 5 years as a tourist. What do I actually do?", felt weirdly on edge during the Friday. Checked in with the folks I know where I normally steward, catching up and all that with folks. They also had the WCS early rounds starting up (one of the World Cosplay championships), and Emma (the person who runs all of the Cosplay slice of things) saw me and did a "Can you help out tomorrow?" due to all the chaos. I agreed, and ended up doing 10am till some point after 7pm as an off the books steward over the course of Saturday (which I had already paid for a general ticket) Got invited to look into becoming actual Crew for future Cons. So we'll have to see about that. Now had that blah Monday back at work and a bout of the con-crud had me napping earlier. -
Also for the trivia, was Anthony Hopkins and Timothy Dalton's first "proper" film. I think they'd both done one "made for tv film" but apart from that had just been theatre guys with a couple of tv appearances.
