The contribution women make towards gaming development
Orogun01 replied to BruceVC's topic in Way Off-Topic
Awareness is no longer a concern, the entire industry has lent an ear to this issue ever since the Women vs. Tropes videos. There has been enough support gathered that Gawker media has made a career of catering to them. The problem is that SJW has become a business for these people who would lose if suddenly their number one source of revenue would go away. So for all the awareness there hasn't been anything done and the attempt to remedy that has become a point of contention on this debate, because it has been largely ignored and demonized by these media outlets. People just see it for what it is, because from the moment this became an issue the opposition has been following all the SJW moves which is why they have come up with so much evidence during this whole ordeal. The fact is that in a few weeks those that the SJW decry as misogynistic neckbeards have made a more concrete contribution to the cause than the SJW who have used their network to turn this issue into a career. I guarantee you that those bloggers turned journalist; which I'm sure that were picked because of their political leanings on the first place since Gawker is the project of someone who either shares those views or though to use them for profit, would not find employment with any real media outlet. We are not threatened by those views we are just tired of the business they run at our expense, we are tired of being shamed for the way we are and for the things we like, we are tired of being told that we should accept a value system that would emasculate us so that other people's feelings will be safe. Sorry, I didn't mean to rant. -
The contribution women make towards gaming development

We should start one, Sub-Human Atrocious Males. Who wants in on the SHAM? I suppose that's one way of having to address these types of social developments and changes. Turn it into a joke so that you don't have deal with the reality of the situation I don't think that there are going to be any social development or changes; women still don't have an interest on core gaming or STEM fields related to gaming, the majority of core gamers are male. The only thing the SJW could achieve via their tactics is the preservation of their status quo, so they keep playing women as victims, they keep attacking any developer (woman or man) that doesn't share their views. This is counter development, is change in the opposite direction from progress. -
To scale back from what I said in the other thread, I'm pretty sure that the MP modes finance themselves via the microtransactions etc. ie. this is not money taken away from sp development but budgeted separately due to the extra money it's going to bring in. If my friends weren't spread over a multitude of platforms, I might even give this a shot. As it is, this is just an unnecessary feature for me. I don't get why don't they allow for multiplatform multiplayer in non competitive games, it kind of makes for a more appealing player base. BTW, I'm digging your new avatar and i'm listening to a rap version of La Cucaracha to celebrate it.

I did like one of the responses that said something along the lines of " I'm being threatened and need to call the cops, better Tweet about it". While yes, I agree that someone making serious threats (e.g: family names, addresses, ect) over the web would unnerve me; she just took a very dramatic measure. The bad is that I don't know if it was out of genuine concern or out of playing the victim. I guess that's what happens when you cry wolf one too many times.

Here lies the gaming career of sorophx Ended abruptly due to technological difficulties.

Considering the games drought that hit this summer and the fact that DOS is the most decent (I'd daresay best) game that has come out this year. Those that tend to hyperbole would no doubt exalt it as such. Still, I'd say this before and I will say it again: it needs a better questing system and journal descriptions.

The contribution women make towards gaming development

By legislation you mean forcing people to hire X amount of women? This cannot be a long term solution. No doubt this has resulted in a different kind of unfair hiring practices. I imagine that they have those in place but there are so few women/minorities interested in gaming and willing to relocate that they can't fill those posts. -
I used to believe that moderates didn't condemn the crazies because they didn't want to alienate themselves within the group, now I wonder if just because they are afraid of them.

What if a feminist wrote a book about the trials and tribulations they have been through as a women in the corporate world but have now achieved respect and financial success. So this book is can be used a source of motivation for younger women grappling with similar issues. Would you still be opposed to this type of revenue generation from a feminist? There is a difference between being payed for your work, sponsored and being a kept woman. The latter would be the least likely to be considered feminist friendly.

Adult females overthrown teen males as largest gaming demographic
Orogun01 replied to Bryy's topic in Computer and Console
Don't underestimate me; I once sold ice to Eskimos and had them take out a mortgage on their igloos to pay it. Also, I think we all want to tap the female market; one at a time though. -

This was something I didn't understand until I began trying to get into the industry; which is really ****ing tough, it helps to have anecdotals. I would look down on shows where actors would go and tell stories of their lives as being for their benefit; but they help, they help define a path from where the aspiring actors/directors are to where they want to be and that gives hope. It is not a matter of moments to build such a career, it takes years and there will be moments when people lose hope, so it helps to know that one is making the right moves. It helps to look at oneself as treading through the path that those at the top took. Gender has no bearing on making games but these stories matter to anyone trying to one day make games because they show what they should aspire to. -
It is ? Thought it was just a campaign against one woman. I wish it was that simple. If it was just about Zoe I wouldn't comment at all. For some this has been a way to undermine feminist ideals and the gender equality movement. There are many comments similar to " this just highlights what hypocrites Feminists are " or " this is why I don't support these types of equality movements" I have to be honest I am surprised you cannot see this in some of the comments and what they are really saying? Here is the thing; I imagine that when people are saying feminist they mean "these feminists", meaning the SJW game journos and developers. Because the collective supporting the campaign and doing all the digging and research are not bothered by helping TFYC whose spokesperson has admitted to being a feminist and that being one of the main reasons as to why he began the project. This is a thing where a bunch of communities that otherwise hate/ignore each other coming together in this situation. In short, there are feminists going against the Quinn cult.

There is usually not conclusive evidence with most accusations, there is something however called the "appearance of propriety" (I learned about it like 4 days ago) meaning that even if the suspicions of having a bias are unfounded you must still recluse yourself to avoid suspicion tainting public opinion. People have gotten fired for less but his boss also drinks the same Kool Aid, hence the root of the problem.
-
I know, I was kind of hoping to lure him out. Anyways, now someone is doing this: Edit: found the pic I was looking for, proof of Nathan Grayson dalliances with Zoe during a Vegas trip
-
Actually the guy that got fired wasn't the one that leaked them, he was the one suspected by the other mods and got turned into a scapegoat. At least that's his account. But the important thing is that every website on the internet has been corrupted by SJWs, up next Bruce will ban us. Edit: the Women In gaming indieGoGo page that was hacked has been restored, the project is currently at 30k (fingers crossed for completion) No word on who the hacker is.

But it does affect everyone because these people have influence and a political agenda and is not just one critic but a series of issues that have been outright dismissed in favor of that agenda. It would be hyperbole to say that they might turn every game into an "inclusion-fest", but there is no denying that AAA has sought compromises towards appeasing them. Yet is the lower end indie developer who suffers as they have no way to market themselves and in a lot of cases their exposure comes from these websites. It directly affects game developers and game development because people listen to these news and if they are all publishing the same one it is going to come off as fact. Also, the people freaking out about it are not relevant to the argument. They are not bound by a professional code of ethics, they are not writers or required to be professional and their insults don't change the facts.

Quinn also faked a doxing and her being the victim of a raid by Disney fans. Well that and complaining about nudes out there that she herself willingly put out there. So pretty believable she'd be sleazy to do that. Everyone involved in this can burn, but it's delightful entertainment. Fish hasn't killed himself yet, but give it time. Though in the end it will be spun as innocent female developer being victimized by nerds online. Walker, Kuchera and others will write scolding articles, and so on. Quinn will end up getting a lot of money out of this too Latest was they(4chan) were trying to reach John Oliver and ask him to cover the story. Really, I just hope that TFYC projects gets made. Even if the project itself should fail it shouldn't be because of lack of funding. I'm actually rooting for one of the proposals, it seems interesting and I like the art style. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-fine-young-capitalists--2 I'm rooting for Afterlife Empire BTW.

Ironic how one of the vilest dens on the Internet is responsible for creating the most inclusive video game of all time, Katawa Shoujo. But romancing cripples is sexist.

One thing that does bother me about Kotaku writers is that whenever I try to look up their qualifications I come up short. I found a picture of a post of someone that claimed to be from a firm that tried to do some business with IGN and other gaming websites and found out that they had an accreditation rating of 15, to put in perspective the National Inquirer is 38. One of the reasons was the lack of staff members with actual journalism degrees, I have found no evidence to the contrary.
