  1. I wouldn't be too worried about New Vegas. The chances that a rescission being granted by the court under such circumstance is nil.
  2. Hmmmm...Did Bethesda declare no dogs were harmed during the development of Fallout 3? Maybe they actually shot a real dog in their recording studio. Interplay's lawyers should hurry up and investigate, it's not too late to add another claim in their countersuit.
  3. NMA reports that one Frymuchan, apparently a stockholder of Interplay, posted on Interplay's forum on the financial site Quote.com stating Interplay is countersuing Beth to have the Fallout IP deal declared null and void. Frymuchan's first post is too long to quote entirely, but the second one is short so here you go Oh, there's some colorful bits in Frymuchan's first post that, for some reason, both NMA and the Vault decided not to report. Credit should be given to NMA for reprinting Frymuchan's post verbatim on its frontpage, only to omit the part wherein its name was mentioned. Such modesty is exceedingly rare in this age of self-hype.
  4. Apple is probably hoping the hardcore PC gaming market simply dies. Then everyone will be playing browser-based social games which run on mac just fine.
  5. Like awesome looking trees? Lots of games use speedtree but to date I've never seen anyone do it better than Oblivion. It's truly the greatest hiking sim ever.
  6. Here, sorry for being late. Actually, it turns out that Optimus shares will now be owned equally by the previous owners of CD Projekt and of Optimus. That sure looks like a unfavorable deal for CD Projekt. Why was it so hard for CD Projekt to go public on its own? It has a strong international business unit on a hot new field (digital distribution), it produced what is perhaps the most successful Polish cultural export in the last few years (the Witcher) and it operates MMO too. I mean, you'd think putting MMO and digital distribution together would surely mean people will want to buy the shares.
  7. Maybe I'm just reading too much into the press release, but it does strike me as a bit odd that Feargus chose to use the phrase "publishing success" while Sega talked about "best game possible". It seems, in a sense, they're finger-pointing each other as the reason for the delay.
  8. Wrong. There's still a ton of improvements to be made. Personally though, I don't think we will see the Next-Gen consoles before 2015. Releasing a new Xbox in 2012 or 2013 while remarketing a "Natalized" 360 as a causal platform could be a sound strategy, IMO.
  9. I wonder if there's any chance Bioware will reboot singleplayer Ultima now they have access to the IP
  10. Form tech news site Fudzilla http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/15936/1/
  11. It's always tough when some corporate suits take away your drug of choice.
  12. I actually think FO3 will sell even better if Beth took screenshots of some of the more colorful hate posts on NMA, Codex, etc and pull them together to make a viral marketing video.
  13. My charming city elf maiden. I've heard the epic story of DA:O started when a human noble tried to take her virginity on the night of her wedding. Oh, poor girl.
  14. That's a very deep question. I've got the feeling it's somehow related to "how can someone take a vow of abstinence without having a partner first?"
  15. As far as I remember those are called inequalities. Well, maybe it's no longer politically correct to teach inequality in high school so they've changed the name to "equation"?
  16. Is the red-haired archer girl a in-game NPC or just a random character conjured up by the CGI team? She kinda reminds me of Catti-brie. As for dragons-always-land-on-the-ground-to-be-killed, I think the answer could be "why you can't see the sky above your head in most CRPGs?"
  17. The Fallout 3 engine does have the tendency to freeze or crash semirandomly on certain system configurations. My game crashed about every 10 mins until I disabled multi-threading in config.ini As for future Beth games using id tech 5, I don't think that will happen simply because of disk real estate. id struggles to fit Rage into 2 DVDs for Xbox 360, they actually wanted a 3 DVD releases if the high cost had not prohibited it. So until blu-ray become standard, MegaTexture may not be very feasible for large open-world games Beth makes. Which is a shame because it's such a prefect fit otherwise. The other problem with id tech 5 is it's not particularly mod friendly. All that said, I won't be surprised if Beth does switch to an id engine in the next console cycle, i.e. the id tech 6 generation.
  18. No, it's not crates or barrels but Sonic easter eggs. Over 9,000 of them so it will take Obz 8 month to implement them all. I don't have much details but from what I've heard every romance-able female will wear extra tasteful Sonic-themed undies.
  19. Wall of Text hits Sega for 9999 damage (Critical) Sega's iron arm cripples Sega loosens its grasp on Alpha Protocol Alpha Protocol is released
  20. Day one DLC is no-go for me.
  21. Bethesda Softworks the publisher isn't 'basically Zenimax', they're two different organizations with different management. After the id acquisition, John Carmack reports to Zenimax CEO Robert Altman, he doesn't report to Bethesda President Vlatko Andonov. On the other hand, when Splash Damage was considering partner with Bethesda on Brink, Paul Wedgwood went to talk with Andonov, not Altman. I think a lot of people have got into the mindset that the publisher must sit on top of the corporate structure but ultimately publishing is only one aspect of the video game business. ZeniMax had made a conscious decision to adopt this rather unique model with its publishing arm on the same corporate level as many of its development studios, all despite Bethesda's brand recognition. Of course, the line is still somewhat blurry given ZeniMax's history and the fact ZeniMax and Bethesda operate from the same office building. But the distinction is there, it's already big after the establishment of ZeniMax Online and the id Software acquisition, and will only grow bigger as ZeniMax expands. Sure, and technically VG Holdings developed Mass Effect and Hasbro designed D&D 4E. But that's not the most informative way of speaking.
  22. No, just let Sis stay as she is and make her a romance option. This will probably convince Sega to release it in Japan.
  23. Doesn't matter ZeniMax owns who. ZeniMax isn't a publisher, they don't publish games. Bethesda does.
  24. Risen's graphics engine is fine, its assets aren't.
  25. Valve comes rather late to the party though. League of Legends will be out this month. Then there's StarCraft II next year, Blizz will no doubt try hard to migrate the DotA player base to SC2. I won't be surprised if SC2 comes with an official DotA-like map.
