It does sound horribly generic though.

Yeah, he could barely form a complete sentence in English, but still he just had to let everyone know his every thought. in every thread on the entire board.. for every second of his day. He kept that going for probably two or three months and gained over 3000+ posts in that short amount of time. It almost drove me mad. At least I know it drove me away from here because I just couldn't stand his gibberish. Then he suddenly turned into the pseudo-intellectual he is (trying to be) today. Not sure which version I prefer, to be honest.

Except.. I never argued that STALKER was the perfect example of a realistic game. I don't think I said that STALKER lacked "magic" or supernatural elements. All I said was that I love how they solved their leveling by just introducing more powerful weapons at the right time. STALKER has pretty realistic weapons (except, perhaps, the Gauss gun). The best part of STALKERS weapons are its ballistic physics though. It just feels right. Realistic. And why are you being so binary in your reasoning? Why narrow your thoughts to just black and white? When I say realistic, I am still talking about a game. I recognize that you'll have to make sacrifices (compromises?) to make a game fun to play, despite it not being perfectly realistic. No one thinks it's fun to get shot in the leg two minutes into a game and then spend two months real-time in a hospital healing from that wound. I'm not saying everything has to be perfectly realistic just because I used the term realistic once (and, in this case, only about weapons)! I just don't want more magic missiles, force powers, psionic **** and all that lame stuff that can only be explained by magic. I am sure you and Gromnir can wear out a couple of keyboards between the two of you arguing how a medkit is actually magic (with its accelerated effects) but personally I'm not interested in splitting hairs.

Stop ogling my girlfriend and concentrate on the games! The games!! ANYHOW! A picture of a very.. morbid barbeque I found in a garage. Even more morbid. I walked into this room and everyone was dead already. The guy in the burning barrel kept bouncing around in there. It was pretty creepy. I just loved this scene. Burning buildings and a lone man standing there in the distance, absolutely still. After those three scary pictures, I wanted to show that the Zone can be a beautiful place too!

I've played the patched version for a while now and I must say that there's not much of a difference. Sure, my armour breaks down.. slowly. Other than that, I haven't noticed a thing. Except.. I don't remember the Stalker suit costing 60,000 rubels before? I'm still saving up for my first. Not sure if it makes the game more fun or not as I'm now spending more time scavenging bodies and artifacts and hauling them back to the trader. It just takes more time and it feels like I have to do the same things over and over just to get enough money to keep my gear in shape. On my way to the Agronom center now. -

Oh, thanks. I turns out I must have had then. Neat. I'm restarting the game with the patch now, but I dread that my armour will now degenerate. That's no fun at all. I hate that my weapons do that already (especially since I can't repair them) and seeing my armour break will just break my heart. -
Just a small movie I made.. I call it "An Ode To STALKER's Explosions".

I agree. One of the (if not THE) best endings I've ever seen in a video game. Just plain awesome.

Argh, the edit function disappeared! I meant UNsalvageable wreck.. grr.

I just finished watching Jersey Girl, and I must say I rather enjoyed it. Surprisingly good movie, especially after seeing Jennifer Lopez in the opening minutes.. I thought the movie would be an salvageable wreck after that, but she disappeared after 10 minutes or so. That probably saved it. And I just can't watch a movie with Liv Tyler in it without getting a crush on that girl! Argh! Stay away from my heart, woman! It irks me that I liked it though.. especially since I remember Volourn liking it too. That usually means you're dead wrong.

I have to agree though: this game can be damn confusing at times. I've heard of a billion different endings (or seven?), but I've only managed to get three. Two of them were obviously not right ( and ), but the third one was pretty OK. Thing is, I don't know if it's the optimal ending. It looked good enough, but it wasn't immediately clear if that was the best I could get.. ( ) I'm afraid to go read a walkthrough as I'm sure I'll just be pissed at myself for missing such huge chunks of game along the way. -

I think I **** my pants the first time that thing ripped me out of my own body. Anyhow, I have entered the reactor core. Getting in was actually very difficult. Snipers on rooftops, helicopters shooting missiles everywhere, soldiers with RPG's (they have huge damage radius's), footsoldiers with body armour and armour piercing assault rifles.. and to top it all off, a five minute limit before the entire area becomes violently radiated! Love it! Much easier on the inside though. -
Did Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic fight? He's the only fighter I am interested in in the UFC. I'll also watch Pride FC tonight.

WOOHOO!! Bye bye, Montreal! See you next season! (Please Devils, I know you hate us but please win against the Islanders tomorrow, ok?)

YES, IT'S TIED AT 5-5!!! 3-1.. 3-5.. 6-5..! Unbelievable game!

One period remaining, our captain has shot.. oh, probably TEN shots or something and he still hasn't scored (I think he is cursed). But we're only down ONE goal now, it's definitely not impossible. We need to stop taking stupid penalties and get back in the game! GO LEAFS GO!

Yes, they do. Still, most people can enjoy a good action flick even though the hero gets shot a couple of times and still continue fighting. Remember how Rambo put gun powder in his wounds, set it on fire and instantly was fit for fight again? People don't seem to need exact reality, but I think there's a point in having recognizable weapons/equipment. I know it worked for me and since Wasteland is still on top of many "Top Games" lists around the world, I am sure it worked for a couple of other nerds too. I disagree. I am currently playing STALKER and although that game doesn't use levels and you gain no experience points throughout the game, you can still feel satisfaction over your progression as you advance from simple handguns, to sawed-off shotguns, up to more and more advanced combat assault rifles. The progress you make in that game (using equipment only!) is very tangible and real. I would have preferred to have some sort of levels in there too, but I am glad STALKER arrived; I've always suspected it was possible to make a great game without having to turn the player from a weakling to a god using excessive leveling and instead rely on more subtle advances. I think STALKER proves that it is possible. I suspect you're slightly behind the times. Besides, you don't have to have nightmares about possible catastrophes beforehand if you manage to convey them properly to the audience. I was actually not thinking about a nuclear apocalypse. I'm so stuck in this environmental thinking that the apocalypse in my mind was automatically based on environmental effects. Magic is the easy way out for a failed story.

Actually.. I think it's a sawed-off shotgun you're after.. and it's opposite of on the roof, so to speak. If I remember correctly.. -
I'm remaining calm and am actively suppressing my envy of Bokishi's rig. When R600 hits the market, then I'll make my move. No hurry yet. I mean Crysis hasn't even been released yet. I don't dare to benchmark my computer though..

Since my STALKER game kept crashing at the Army Warehouse, I decided to sneak past the entire thing. When I kept as far away from the Freedom/Duty war, the game was stable enough for me to be able to reach the Red Forest at least. Then I proceeded through the Red Forest too (which I thought was a very cool zone, especially after a while when you started seeing everything in yellow and flying ghost dogs kept attacking) and ended up in Pripyat. Some guys in Pripyat are shooting at me from very far away with something that looks almost like purple lasers though so I decided to take a break. I'm still having a great time in the game. Got some new weapons that really makes a difference in the more difficult battles. -
Because I'm basically paralysed with fear. This game will probably be Sundin's last game as a Leaf. In the most important games of the year, he has minus stats and hasn't scored a goal in 11 straight. It's the last year on hos contract and who i their right mind would pick up the option for the next season knowing how he's been playing this year? It's worth something like 6 million.. Three games that they just had to win. They lost two (I'm not counting the game against lowly Washington.. that they barely won). Bigtime. And they played like ****. I'm not keeping my hopes up against Montreal.

I recently downloaded and tried the Dawn of Magic demo. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a poor man's version of Diablo.. or something. With what has to be the worst predetermined characters ever! You get to choose from an old, ugly man, a fat woman and a few others. Horrible. The game itself doesn't feel very coherent (quests and story is weird..), but it might be a fun time sink for a while. It's always fun to beat up on giant ants and stuff in the woods!
-
Why do you guys always want supernatural things? And magic? And psionic powers? And divine beings and ****? I would love a game where everything is based on reality, like Wasteland was. There's a certain charm to actually recognising the weapons you're using instead of just getting that next longsword +3. Bring me kevlar vests, AK-47's and RPG's and I'm happy!

I finally found where the game hides the screenshots! Stupid STALKER.. Anyhow, I only had three. Weird. One is a picture of a really tough gang of Duty soldiers gathered around a campfire. One is the view from a water tower, overlooking a ruined village full of horrible monsters. One is of this strange altar (I think?) I found in the woods.
