I'm more familiar with those moments when everything just kinda comes apart and you know that your life is going to take a very different direction. I think they're related. Anyway, congrats, I think! Meanwhile, I just got to work (almost nobody else here) and was just counting - if they let me take the holidays I've earned instead of paying me the kill fee, I have about 3 weeks of work left here. Yay.

Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy - Ch26 (Mae'Var)
Nepenthe replied to Tigranes's topic in Computer and Console
Surely there's the weekend? I'm not even proposing anything, I'm just curious why do you think people wouldn't have time. Timezones.... And are you actually aware how long this game takes to complete? The last time I played it I had a save "pretty near the end" and it took me a week of nothing but eating, gaming and sleeping to complete And yes, ADULT responsibilities extend to the weekend, I'm afraid. -
The core (interrogation) gameplay is critically flawed, partially in design, partially due to story elements. Fun enough romp, my recollections are vague since I played it when I had food poisoning (and couldn't sleep). Planning on replaying soonish.

How about we try? I admit it's fun to read, but I believe it'd be even more fun to actually play, don't you think? I like it this way, but I'm sure nobody's stopping you from organizing something like that. I'm not sure I would've had the time to run bg2 mp even before adult responsibilities, never mind now. -
First day back at work after The Event. Was prepared to give in my notice. Turns out there's nobody of rank here. Could've slept last night. Had an entertaining talk with a senior co-worker about the similarities between this place and 1 % gangs, the importance of being a Good Leaver who just haves to give up his bike or pinky as opposed to Bad Leaver, who gets his life ruined.

Yep, unfinished business. It mostly reinstates cut content, but they are a bit vague on how much they've had to fill in blanks themselves. Or were the last time I looked. -

I do! It's more people to explode. I thought Nepenthe was the one that was making people explode? That's just in real life. In bg, I just have a cavalier attitude. -
i don't think he was complaining about 30 degs c, but f... Yes, I'd agree with that. Of course, my bed is the most expensive thing I own. Off the top of my head, good ikea gear I or people I know own are their "billy" shelves and home office desks, smaller dinner tables... In fact, anything table-y in general.

Tig's lp has me hankering for some bg2. I really should play bgee first (and take that char through both games, would be only the second time for that), but I'm stuck here with just the ipad and the current ipad bgee build is missing some crucial patches from the pc version...

You can get a lot of good stuff from ikea for ridiculously cheap, it just takes skill or luck to pick out good from the crap...

I thought I was supposed to say that? Anyway, great to see you back in the saddle Tigs, looking forward to more misadventures. I'd like to see the bard stronghold quests, if that is doable with your mods. -
Oh, I think of that, often. I'm an only child, so my parents have been more like parents, siblings, scientific collaborators, and, dare I say it,best friends to me. Frankly, I'm more likely to pull a McQueen than go postal.

Coz they want to juice humans to make a baby reaper and earth has the largest human population. They just want to kill asari, not make jam out of them.

Your workplace sounds a bit schizophrenic Tell me about it. Had another pretty bad tachycardia attack yesterday (with vomiting, which is apparently A Very Bad Thing) so wound up getting my immediate sick leave extended until the end of the week, so no work until next Thursday. Also they're going to run a lot more tests after the holidays. Starting to look like my career won't be over because my boss wrecks my reputation, but because my heart packs up. Currently crashed on my mom's sofa, watching nfl gamepass. Oh, and I became officially a doctor on Tuesday, had the first three doctor dinner with my parents. Which was nice in a ****ty week.

Heard our HR manager sent out an email today that I'm going to continue until the end of June. *scratches head* Not sure I'll agree to it.

Sure, could be a lot worse and yes, there's room for a little bit more color in earphones. I've found that having to separately power my headphones would defeat any gain I'd get from not having to use a wire. I use a etymotic iphone model with a microphone, ok for commutes but if ever have to become a cubicle slave, would need to radically upgrade.

Classic subtle Monster design right there. :D

Spent the day at the clinic due to tachycardia that started last night. Got meds and a couple of days off. Happily the on-call guy happened to be a cardilogist, didn't have to go to the hospital. I seem tobe taking the imminent end of my career bad.

Hm, I don't suppose there's any point in talking to the HR people about "hostile working environment" then? Because that's certainly what it sounds like... On my list, but frankly, the issue is that I'm on a contract and it's running out. They can **** me over as much as they want because of it by just not continuing it as we'd agreed. Technically, breach of contract, but impossible to prove. I'd just get branded "trouble maker" in addition to "dishonest", not that it really matters. Because it was another temporary contract, no chance of continuation and I wasn't feeling up to learning a new job from scratch. Also the person I'm standing in for has a serious illness in the family and is continuing her leave of absence because of it - they asked me to continue, and I didn't want to feel them hanging or haivng to train somebody new for it for a couple of months... Do I feel foolish now!

I hope it all works out, man. Doesn't look like it. I mean, even if they have second thoughts, they've been willing to accuse me of some pretty terrible things on no evidence at all. Obviously, I have no future here and have to start shooting application again. Anyone need a lawyer? Or a former barista? Edit: ok, only reading the news now. Horrible.
-
S'yeah, my boss, who asked me to stay on last monday, is now threatening to fire me unless my workrate improves. Also accuses me of lying. And I just canceled my application for that dream job... *sigh*

The hysterical part is that I wasn't even making a joke about working with women, but replying to the other guy's joke and the logistic problems executing his plan would cause in the current environment. But, since I already got called out on it, I might as well commit the crime I was accused of: Working somewhere with a high amount of career-focused women creates an extremely tense and backstabby work environment. Some men also become overly concerned with the pecking order in such a place, so there tends to be a lot more of young bucks locking horns than in a mostly-male environment. Personal experience from actually working, not reading propaganda trying to pass off as science.

Have had progressively worse days at work all week to the point where I'm actually afraid of having to go there tomorrow.

Dunno, I was a bit surprised by it myself. MIght have skipped a large chunk of optionals, because I was a bit ahead of the curve right until the last planet (hmm, taris?) when I just didn't get enough experience...
