  1. I was under the impression that, unlike Microsoft, Sony at least claims that their individual consoles are not sold at a loss. Their economic problems are due to other parts of SCEE not delivering :/ Edit: Probably means "manufactured". I'm guessing that info does not account for R&D costs.
  2. I haven't encountered a good many people willing to pay $360 for the privilege of playing Heavy Rain. I'd say that's a minority even in the people who actually know what the game is. That's fallacious reasoning. People generally don't buy the PS3 for a single game. They often do buy it so they can play a game knowing they'll be able to play many others as well, however. I'd say a major chunk of people buy it because it's the best blu-ray player on the market - the fact that it can also play games, some of them good, a few of them exclusive, is an added bonus. I belong to this group.
  3. Maybe he wants to send 10 000 000 dollars to the person who passes the game on to him. Just need the address and some bank details first... They've been really hammering my mailbox this week. On topic: Beat Heavy Rain for the first time. Was good in a "different" kind of way. I know consider Jacqui Ainsley to be perfection incarnate. Or at least it's a tough fight between her and Yvonne Strahovsky.
  4. A lot. Start with your childhood, I'm listening At least mine's already over.
  5. Still at it. I quite like it - it's pretty different from my usual fare, and definitely something that should probably be mentioned in the "game auteurism" thread - considering the lead's past games.
  6. The Forgotten Realms invented the idea of evil? Here I thought it was something that man has grappled with for millennia. Thanks for the insight, Boo. He's also the resident Prophet of Morality and Elminster the Second.
  7. It seems like the opposite of silly to me. The last time I looked, it was still the capital.
  8. I dunno, some people were already now complaining how this is Bio's most linear game since Jade Empire (which I couldn't disagree more with, btw.). I think they balanced the free-roam/forced parts pretty well (even if ). And I still disagree with ME2's combat being "dumbed down". You might build an argument that the gear system was (gear is not combat), you might argue that it is, in some areas, rather simple (and I might agree with you), but "dumbing" would involve it being dumber than ME1 - something that is beyond the realm of possibility.
  9. Heavy Rain. This one's a time bandit - can't say much else for the moment.
  10. Especially, as it turns out, both ME1 DLC's were devoid of such long-term consequences. For now, at least.
  11. Let's wait for some actual ME2 DLC before we decide how big it is, eh? The stuff we've gotten so far has been pretty impressive, considering it's free (well, ok, not impressive, but big compared to, well, nothing).
  12. It's still possible to permanently die, depending on the choice. I thought it was only possible by grabbing the disc and hammering it to pieces. That's the way I did it, anyway.
  13. That actually sounds a bit dirty. Sounds like he's going to be the KOTORII Oracle in addition to being the BG2 Guru.
  14. You know, the whole colored silhouette filled with faded pictures of the game's characters. I doubt Dragon Age invented it but i can see the resemblance. The first time i saw it it just reminded me of pure win, though. Ok, I admit it, my memories are a bit vague on the proletariat version of DAO. The CE has that big honkin' sword on it, and based on an in-depth comparison to both versions of the ME2 packaging, I have declared them to have absolutely nothing in common with this cover. Well, not more than the heavy rain origami figure at any rate. I mean, they are both kind of abstract, right?
  15. No, it's a heavy rain ripoff! And MW2 too! (what the hell are you guys smoking? It looks nothing like me2, and I'm not seeing a blood-splatter dragon there, either)
  16. Finnish Ministry of Justice uses OpenOffice exclusively, btw. Having worked for them, it's probably due to being *really* underbudgeted as opposed to ideological. They also forced me to use IE6, because no other browser had been "approved for Ministry use"... *imagine tactical facepalm picture link here*
  17. Yeah, I'm waiting for Sega confirmation whether the preorder bonuses are valid in the European branches of the Citadel games store, er, Gamestop. Not that they probably have it available for preorder around here just yet, anyway.
  18. Niiiice. Still very much looking forward to this. Gonna be a long (and dry) three months waiting for this, though. I'm actually seriously contemplating buying that QTE jerk-around called Heavy Rain just to kill time!
  19. I'm fairly sure that if you have the GOTY or Broken Steel installed, this shouldn't be a problem. I haven't cared enough to personally verify (I played it just once), so I might be wrong.
  20. Just now finding out about the mighty Staff of the Magi?!?! Heh, youre in for a treat next playthrough. And this from the self-professed "resident BG2 guru"?
  21. Sentinel is a good choice. Having both Warp and Overload allows for greater flexibility in squad makeup than any other class, and tech armor is nice. On the other hand... it lacks teeth. The only Sentinel I've played so far was on Normal, but I definitely did not feel like I was lacking 'teeth', certainly not in the later phases of the game when I had the Vindicator and AP ammo. YMMV But compare it to the damage bonuses the Infiltrator gets from the get go, for instance. Sentinel may get decent damage output after getting the extra weapons training and a bonus talent, but at that point some of the other classes get pretty crazy. Infiltrator/Widow, Vanguard/Claymore, and even Soldier/Revenant are in another league entirely... without any significant drawbacks since, as I said, tech guys no longer have non-combat advantage. Not saying you can't kill stuff as a Sentinel... just that it's much more tedious than other classes, except for Adept. Valid points - I probably should have clarified, that at no point did I feel like I was lacking in damage output, and the upgrades I got during the game kept me going - but I did have to focus both my optional upgrades on stuff that precisely did give me some 'teeth'. A combo of, say, widowmaker+reave would probably have had me bored to tears when facing mooks...

  23. They should, if it's faulty, as it basically is, in this case. In civilised countries, at least.
