  1. Watch it, Volo's gonna kick you in the head 'til you're dead for saying that. I'll forgive him, because that's the best AI bark in history. Along with "Sorry mate, but you got a date down under" from the same game and "Put him in a bag, I want nobody to see this" from Deus Ex.
  2. Well, they have the FRM technology (joke) to explain it (Fabrication Rights Management). It might be stupid, but at least it's a somewhat amusing variety of it. Apart from Miranda and an additional incinerator/overloader, I'm pretty sure the squadmates didn't do much in the way of damage output (ie. their weapons don't seem to matter... at all) . I think this is a case where they overcompensated from me1's Wrex/+Garrus/+Ashley firing squads... :/
  3. I don't think it's possible in the physical universe to make a worse cyberpunk game than deus ex: iw was. Now that I've jinxed it, we'll see how things go.
  4. The thing is that you pretty much need to use all the guns you get... Frankly, missing out on the vindicator with a soldier is going to make some places in the early-mid game a huge pain. :/
  5. I thought the combat in Silent Hill 2 was well done. Silent Hill 3 gave you a katana and I beat the last fight by firing my pistol at it a dozen times. I don't remember Silent Hill 4's combat, other than that nothing stayed dead and the camera was horrible. It was functional, but a lot of the combat stuff was just filler to stretch out the game. I'd rather have one awesome fight than bash 20 creepy nurses while going to my next destination. Maybe you guys are approaching this the wrong way. Don't think of Heavy Rain as a "game", think of it as a completely new thing, like an interactive movie. It just happens to share the platform with a bunch of video games. Judge it on its own merits, not based on your preconception of a "video game". Am I the only person who remembers the "interactive movies games" of the (early) 90s? Am I that old, or are you guys so witcherwitcherwitcherbg2 you don't remember anything that happened before?
  6. More like humans will be the dominating species in the galaxy in the renegade ending. Paragon: cooperation, renegade: domination. Sure, I was talking more about the end game than the ending itself. Paragon ending: everyone lives happily ever after smiling at each other while collecting flowers. Renegade ending: Humans go third reich, and everyone is cranky. Yeah, but my point is that in the renegade version, people won't be "giving the finger at each other", they'll be "united" under human/cerberus rule.

  8. One that can be seen from the Alps, situated in Berlin, just like his mentor planned for himself.
  9. Ok. I guess the Archangel mission w. the Vindicator is something I could consider going back to even after completing some other mission, but generally, I wouldn't say it would be worth it in this game. :/
  10. O_o The x360 version does this automagically - the pc doesn't? Also, pretty much agree with the points you made earlier - and want to emphasise the way combat drones change combat on higher levels. There is no safe cover (+ there's always a flanking vanguard)
  11. I was getting fairly jealous of PS3 owners, but the more I watched of preview vids the more it looked like one long stream of quick-time events. I hated them enough in Resident Evil 4, I can't imagine going through a whole game of it. Shrug, I was of the same opinion based on the preview movies, but then I tried the demo out on a whim and decided to go with it. The reason I like it is probably precisely why you're saying "it's not a game", ie. it's different. I wouldn't be buying much games if they were all like Heavy Rain, but I happily bought and played the one. Edit: very few of the button controls are actually on timer. So you might need to move the controller, or hold down certain buttons in order, but it didn't feel like too many of those were timed.
  12. Haha, there's some interesting stuff leaking out. IW got raided by "corporate security". I swear, Activision is going to be MJ12 and Bob Page will be replaced by Bobby Kotick. Kotick has since come out and retracted some of those statements. You're quoting me here, and yet I'm not seeing the connection. Or did he retract statements made by other people?
  13. I was in law enforcement. My quality of life has improved somewhat since exiting that field of work. Of course, being a cop with a law degree will get you endless amounts of nookie - that I miss. You did it for the nookie? I was hoping somebody would catch on that.

  15. While the RPGness is up to debate, just sucking at the game doesn't make it less of an RPG
  16. *suffers a critical hit from wall of text*
  17. "I decry the sizeist language in this thread!"
  18. I dunno, I've had fun replaying it so far - but I agree, this is the kind of game where that first, unspoiled playthrough is special in some way.
  19. I'm an employment vagabond. In these parts law degrees qualify you for a lot of things, I've done more than a few of those for some months, at least.
  20. One of the mysteries of the universe.

  22. Oh, yeah. Definitely! Throw Field - hit one key: encounter is over. It only makes sense that you consider this "overthinking it", and then complain about how "dumbed down" the game is. Of course, stuff that works on casual (shooting everything repeatedly) might not work on some other difficulty levels.
  23. One local magazine had a funny review of Fight Club. There wasn't any text review at all and they didn't give any points to it, there was just three pictures and a summary: "The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club" That's even better than the one I've preferred so far: "I'm not sure if this movie is a sick joke or sheer brilliance."
  24. Here's a short article about that. Sony's in for the long haul. Well, well. Must check my sources & memory.
