  1. Maany maaaany people who are used to "simpler" games (mhahawha, like ME2 is complicated) play ME2, since it's basically a shooter, and they arent used to that sort of things. While that's understandable, I still found it funny how many had no idea what they did wrong when their crew started to die. Or they just did the "essential" upgrades and didn't bother with the extra probes and/or fuel...

You're making a big assumption - that any of the Kims is actually in charge.
  3. Yes, and for the record, i was referring to what Hurlshot's saying here, in my usual oblique way.
  4. And the inquisition? That was misunderstood as well in your mind I suppose too. Bible bleeding hearts like you are a dime a dozen from my travels. Always making up rationals for atrocities committed by (their) faith/organized religion. But what's your excuse?
  5. Probably the hottest woman I've ever seen worked at the Copenhagen Hard Rock Cafe... *longing sigh*

The best analysis for the event I've heard so far was that it's the new NK regime testing exactly how far they can go and still get support from China. Makes sense with the new passing of the baton from father to son.
  7. That's a pretty major simplification. The PS3's main advantage is that it outputs uncompressed digital audio (up to 7.1 channels) via HDMI. You need a dedicated soundcard to do it on the PC (or at the very least a graphics card that doubles as a sound card).* It also does have the advantage of Windows not mangling the sound without having to find ways of bypassing it. Additionally, the PS3 architecture is peculiar enough that I wouldn't call it a perfect example of all the stuff you can do in hardware. For example, it's HD video decompression is also purely software (unless things have changed) - something that would definitely be a bad approach on the PC side. *Or a Mac Mini, which is what I have.
  8. Yeah. I mean, they deliberately chose NOT to have customer-unfriendly DRM in their product, but instead to pursue actual pirates aggressively. Better approach, and one in which they certainly are morally justified. I'm actually considering picking this one (and w1) up, now. When I have more time...
  9. I have this (well, the Euro version sc-lx72) and a mix of Tannoy Mercury F2s and F1 customs. No sub, as the F2s dig pretty low and I ran out of cash before I could get a good sub with the necessary room acoustic correction (would have set me back as much as the rest of the gear put together, also starting to run out of space in my tiny studio)
  10. Editshow again. PS3 has some games that run native at 1080p, and they can generally output most games at this resolution - generally the native resolution is going to be less (often less than 720p) and is upscaled to whatever is output. I think that with semidecent headphones and stuff, a lot of gamers could get pretty close to the maximal audio experience as is. Certainly the devs and pubs seem to consider it worthwhile - in fact, the emphasis on it seems to be growing. :/ But... what about Mark Meer? Well, I guess that must be the reason why I rather like his voiceacting, as well.
  11. ... What?! Not sure what you are going here, but you only need to pop in either of the Mass Effect games (never mind the fishy CoDs) to be able to tell that a lot of attention is paid to audio design. I mean, spending 3000 € on audio is worth it just to hear Wrex's voice as it should be heard. In fact, the importance of the audio part of gaming is what has mostly driven me towards the sofa (and thus pretty inevitably console) side of gaming. The sound design of games is certainly not done with the logitech speakers in mind, and there's a not-insignificant amount of home theatre enthusiasts who are also quite fond of their gaming... Edit: unless your point simply is that people use crap gear for listening to games. In which case I have no idea why you start "At least graphics..."

    Not necessarily...
  13. The irony. Beat me to it. I blew some pepsi from my nose at that, it's bordering on the blindest thing I've ever seen on a forum.
  14. Considering I'm knee-deep in snow here, I have a hard time disagreeing with you. Also the women are cruel and heartless.
  15. Hey, after they buy the PC, their electricity, and broadband service, how do you expect them to afford games? Geeze. Let's not forget that eyefinity setup that MUST take priority before actually paying for the games you play on it...

I'm sure NKs will write it off as a capitalist provocation, in the best peace-loving communist tradition.
  17. It's called Bioware and it's the rpg forum equivalent of dumping gasoline on a fire.
  18. Wardell's stance on it was akin to what I was getting at. If they weren't going to buy it, what did you lose ? I suppose it is a problem for the PC industry just for the temptation though and their solutions are usually all useless (yay for open-ness, though). Funny to talk about piracy today, had a nice walk through Chinatown today, And the opposing point is that when people enjoy your work for free, it only stings marginally less that they wouldn't pay for it in the first place. Besides, piracy is so all-pervasive that it's not possible to get reliable data on how many of the people who are interested enough in a game/other product to pirate it would, in fact, buy it (even if they claim otherwise).
  19. Yeah.. And the console crowd thinks we "PC elitists" are being stupid when we whine about games being more and more dumbed down. Thank god there are still sadistic GRPG's around. I think you only become a PC elitist when you blame consoles, as opposed to a non-platform specific pandering for the masses, for this. It's interesting, really, the change just between Modern Warfare 1 and this is pretty staggering. MW1 was fully dependent on YOUR ( the player's) ability to keep advancing continuously. This was already scaled back with MW2, and now you're just a bystander while the rest of the team advances. MW2 had the solo sections, and even when you had your team with you, they didn't seem quite so omnipotent as these guys do.
  20. Don't disagree necessarily... it's been ages since I've played BG2 with Mazzy, so Bastila's a lot clearer in my mind (and current favourite). OTOH, I do think that Viconia was Grey DeLisle's best performance by far.
  21. The alternative is Jennifer Hale, who emotes much, much more. YMMV.
