I genuinely don't get the fuss over the TSA. FWhile I'm not exactly proud of my body, I don't mind showing it if I have to in order to stop it being blown into tiny tiny bits. Tiny tiny chunks are an even worse look for me than naked. The problem is that most people who are not in the business of selling those new machines and/or fearmongering for profit/re-election consider this latest step to be totally ineffective (as long as your anal cavity is not inspected, you can smuggle things on board). I'd rather die than lose my dignity, but it's probably too late for that. And I have a deathwish, anyway.

Nope, was a joke on saying someone else's chosen activity isn't 'worthwhile'. Painting miniatures is a decent creative outlet, I might take that up as a full hobby I'm..ehh..attempting to make a cool looking Apothercary for Deathwatch. So far a lot of attempts have ended in failure I probably should have elaborated that it also gives me the opportunity to do some gaming with some of my friends who i don't get to see too often and who also happen to be (re)lapsed gamers. So it also gives me a female free hobby, but also gives me the excuse to do some beer & pretzels with a couple of good friends every now and then. Also, having trouble following Krookie's train of though. Are you saying that I should start volunteering at a soup kitchen? Are YOU?

To say that I view sociology in general with extreme scepticism is an understatement, but having been forced to study it as a part of more advanced legal studies (and modern legal theory has more than a passing connection with sociology), I've picked up some stuff that's interesting, some stuff that's amusing. Of course, I'm not sure if most people when running into somebody absolutely FABULOUS would generally find the situation amusing from the point of view of the practical application of the secondary deviance theory, I do. (The concept being that when certain stereotypes become associated with a subculture, people who identify themselves as being part of that subculture tend to start projecting those stereotypes, as well.).

That's a lot less prominent in Europe than in the U.S., white flight and all that. But there's definite merit in the model, Chicago School wrote a lot of interesting stuff on that (I'd link to wikipedia, but since I apparently need to follow scientific referencing standards on this board, you'll just have to look it up yourself)

What a total GITS ripoff. Uh. Are we working from the assumption the ghost in the shell invented cybernetic human augmentation, or is there another layer of "ripping off" I'm not seeing. Or are we back to the old conundurum that if it were something else, people would bitch that "it's not even proper cyberpunk" and now that it is, it's a "GITS RIPOFF"? You're reading too deep into this. Merely stating that once the augmented hand and eye popped up, I was instantly reminded of GITS2. I'm reading too much into "What a total GITS ripoff."? Sure.

Agreed with Wals. I'll give GD that "big government" can lose sight of issues and become inefficient through that, but that some things need to be handled at a higher level. Unfortunately, this rarely works in practice, a good example is the EU and its official principle of subsidiarity (meaning that matters should always be dealt with at the lowest level that can efficiently deal with them) vs. what happens in practice.

Ah, so you can start being "that creepy old guy" at the gaming stores? That's me! Hey, I tried being normal, but the society wouldn't let me. Now I'll go back to being creepy.

"film-like scenes" SEE, THEY JUST WISH THEY WERE MAKING MOVIES INSTEAD OF GAMES?!!!! Now that I've stood in for the customary trolls generally missing in projekt red threads, I can say that it looked pretty impressive, apart from youtube compression basically wrecking most of the finer details they were trying to show off here and there.

You should learn to play the guitar with me. It is probably cheaper, and chicks dig musicians. Not so much for the painting plastic men. The whole reason for it is that chicks don't dig it. Right now, i need a (new) woman about as much as I need a hole in the head... I'm 30 early next year. I can legally go back to doing stuff I want, with no need for dropping things to seem "mature" to tweeners.

Well, it was new to me, so thanks.

Edit: NM, don't want to get involved in this

I groaned, but I don't expect to pay that in the end. Amazon.co.uk: Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Augmented Edition (PC DVD):

I know YOU did. Maybe you are just the exception to the rule? *ducks and prepares himself for explaining this joke later*

Doublepost alert! Preordered Augmented editions for PS3 and PC from Play (the first english-speaking ®etailer to have them available). Will probably cancel and switch to something local, if/when they become available, but this is one of those releases that I'm willing to really go to town with (ME2 was the last one I bought multiple copies of).

Ahh, those are always wonderful. I'm thinking of picking up some kind of hobby. Considering going games workshop and starting to paint little plastic men again (after 15 years). Chances of getting into trouble with women there, virtually zero.

Score one for custserv. TBH, the example on the page is for a change of mind, not for an honest mistake... Always great to see a company play fair!

Does bukkake refer to anything other than a sexual act? I'm not sure what it has to do with pirating. It's mkreku speak for Purkake.

My point is WWII was a war of conquest, motivated by ideology, started by countries who thought they could win such a war. Modern wars are wars of economy and market shares. NK will be 'neutralised' if bottomlines threatens to go into the red. Other countries will need to see a tangible benefit in joining, since ideology rarely moves anything these days. Hence the lack of a WW3 with a lot of participants. Yeah, but if you're mentioning Finland in that context, but not Russia, I think you need to go back and check out the Winter War and the Molotov-Ribbentrop agreement.

If that was directed at me, it was (obviously) a joke playing on stereotypes directed at the claim that more than two parties would be... confusing.

The system will become too complicated for the general public and people will instead vote for their favorite drink/food. The downfall of the Tea Party. It's funny, in a lot of countries people are able to keep track of multiple parties just fine. Stupid Americans - not just a myth after all?
