Yeah, that's great. But exactly how many people are going to do that? I'm pretty sure most would think of a rationale (like the abovementioned - it suxx anyway!!11) to skip paying for it. Or at the very least they'll decide to wait for the "goty" edition, and pay 10 % of what they would've needed to pay for the game originally.

Yeah, that's an interesting theory, mostly because not only are the IPs obviously owned by take-two, so are the studios. I'm sure that they are happily going to part with their two crown jewels and throw in the towel. Not. I suppose Acti could try to acquire take-two (which is publicly traded), but I kind of doubt that too. I think they were talking about the fact that there was a news story about Acti looking at Take Two... Uh, ok. I didn't see much of that in the article, but it does seem like a credible theory. After all, Kotickvision can't create, only acquire and destroy. ... Did you look at the title of the article and what the link says? ... maybe

Well, if no game dismissed by a forum member was worth playing, none of us would be doing any gaming at all.

I used to be on the moderation team of a relatively popular indie (not genre) band. In my time there, I learned that: 1) People will see themselves as the supreme fans of a band, and yet not be ready to pay a cent for their music 2) Not buying an artist's music will actually result in them starving and/or quitting. Let's just say that it changed my views a lot more than any RIAA propaganda, ever.

As well as Matriarch Aethyta and the Rachni Ambassador, at the very least.

So.. uh.. is she? I mean, I have a.. uh, friend.. who needs to know this. Getting to find that out is the prime selling point of the game. Besides, Isabella was totally into Leliana in DAO.

I didn't take it seriously, as I said at the end the only serious thing was the question of why so many people who object to piracy on moral grounds think it's OK to throw unfounded accusations around despite that being morally questionable as well, as it always happens. And that's a garbage assumption. It's also irrelevant as I didn't come close to defending piracy by the most broad definition possible. It was a reply to your question, not directed at anything you said. I think it's a very sound assumption, in general - as in, having more than 50 % strike rate.

When you've calmed down, look back at my original message and notice the "wink" at the end. Cheers, N And why does somebody think that people who defend a certain type of criminal might partake themselves? Seems like a reasonable assumption - not always true, of course.

ugh, that's tough Not at all.

That's some conclusion to jump to. The RIAA beckons you! I think it's a reasonable suspicion, in face of the fact that everybody is making excuses for pirates. I dunno, what would you call a person who bought a stolen phone from someone for 1/10 of the actual price? surely not a thief? what if he got that phone as a gift from his friend who bought it from a person who in his turn got it from the thief? what do you call him then? because this happens all the time at pawn shops and whatnot by the way, you can start a thread about Killzone 3 now, too (42 GB? my god, why would anyone even consider downloading it) Here its called "receiving of stolen goods" and carries roughly the same penalty as theft. I'm sure most civilised countries have similar statutes, not sure about Russia.

It's threads like these that make it pretty obvious that this is a forum filled to the brim with pirates and a couple of retarded console kids (such as myself), who are just too stupid to play games for free.

You're kidding! I thought I'd clicked every link on that article! Dang... *blush* Well, I read it... don't totally understand the full context, since they were referencing changes to an original document. What I read, I didn't like. See, this is the whole problem with democracy. People have (usually negative) opinions about things they realise they don't understand.

Well, it's almost always covered in civil law, as I understand it, ie you get sued for piracy rather than arrested unless there are very unusual circumstances. That's why it not being stealing is significant, as stealing is enforced by police while rights infringements are enforced by the rights holders, in civil court. Nope. I suggest you buy a dvd movie with the FBI warning (instead of a pirate copy where the warning has been deleted). Same thing in Europe, certainly in Nordic countries where criminal and civil proceedings can be handled simultaneously (like they were in the Pirate Bay case).

fixed But I wanted to go with a less obvious choice!

And now they obviously have a deal with Microsoft and Sony, meaning they're swimming in money. And as everyone knows it's okay to steal from rich companies, especially if they sell overpriced ice-cream. Besides, it's not really stealing because you wouldn't have bought it anyway.

Yeah, I think it's not really a comfort that, say, 800 000 people play your game for free, but they wouldn't have bought it anyway.

Right, because all of the conversation with her which are of deeply philosophical nature, existential and the major religious theme of KOTOR 2 equating the force to a Pantheist sentient being not deep. But Shepard making some crack about where the council can shove it, writing gold. Because good writing in a game is some guy sprouting some Blaise Pascal at you out of the blue? Wandering into some mechanic who challenges you with some Kierkegaard? Not really on the topic of KOTOR2, but it sure looks like some people think that way?

Yep, I agree. Every developer has to know that their pc game will be pirated eventually and make plans accordingly. Still, it's unfortunate that pc gaming will have to once again contend with another high-profile piracy issue. Yeah, Rockstar has already made their plans apparent: No PC versions. I wonder which publisher is next?

Unless the "comic gets misprinted" or there's a "problem with the CE supply" like I had for ME2 and DAO. DAO was especially painful, since I was bedridden at the time and had to ask my mother to pick it up for me. Oh well, at least it felt like 20 years ago.
-
yeah, right combat in DAO was nothing like in IE games. just because it wasn't D&D I think you totally missed his point. Can't be sure about Vol. Still carefully optimistic about the game. A lot easier when I'm not determined to hate everything a company comes out with (though I admit I'm close to that with Bethesda... and mebbe Activision)
