  1. Considering the name of the movie, that's pretty hilarious.
  2. Very doubtful. He's a book author, he doesn't do game writing. And none of his ideas from Icarus Effect are in Deus Ex. He created several original characters, at least 3, reused a Deus Ex 1 character, and they're not even mentioned in passing in the game. It sez so in the "About the Author" thing in the back of the book. No need for ****ing wikipedia.
  3. Quoted for Truth and Wisdom re: the Space Marine demo. I'll cut both of you! If it means I don't have to play the game or the demo again, please! (accidental double post. My bad).
  4. So 'meh', garbage and 55% chance of garbage. Interesting month. Max Payne 3 has multiplayer, apparently, wonder how BT will work - http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-09-...-out-march-2012 I dunno, it's going to take a lot to convince me that MP3 isn't a weak cash-grab. While the years in development nearly rival the time Remedy has spent on their games, it's still not exactly a good sign, either.
  5. No. The game was written by Mary DeMarle. IIRC, Swallow was a writer on the team, DeMarle was the Lead.
  6. Perhaps its more fool them. True. There's a reason I don't talk to them any more. :D
  7. I think the so-called Finecast was a step in that direction. 1) Replace expensive material with dirt-cheap resin 2) rise prises 3)don't even need this! 4) profit!

  9. I hear it's not as horrible to most people as it's been to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XViCOAu6UC0 Or maybe it is. (Sorry if I've posted that before) :D More seriously though, the best of luck!
  10. You going the mail order bride route, too?
  11. How long for, sparky? Atleast 9 months, probably alot longer. Joined a new company, I has shares and stuff, so I'm around for some time. Still games, before anyone asks. You change employers more often than most coders I know change underwear. Personally, had a piss-poor day trying to figure out Lloyd's Mar forms and LPO 359B
  12. I got tired of the gameplay already in the demo. It felt like the 6/10 Eurogamer gave it. Kind of surprised the 40k brand has this kind of power, or we're hitting one of those "GTA4" spots were I find a game a lot of people seem to like unbearably tedious.
  13. Yeah, you get fatter easier on cheap (processed) food in the western countries.
  14. Yeah, I increasingly feel like that, too, but if i feel like playing the game multiple times, I'll generally start bumping the difficulty.
  15. I was on the PS3, and I don't remember there being much in the way of loading upon entering buildings.
  16. Or you knock out some old lady in the mall, and buy it with money from her purse. Now now that would be illegal, don't you think? No, it's ok because she wasn't going to spend that money anyway, so it's not a lost sale or something. So, it's perfectly ok as long as you don't talk to steam support about it? Kind of like mugging the old lady is ok if you don't get caught? :D
  17. I think the endings are vague enough that there isn't a need to pick a canon ending. Unless they plan on doing something between DX1 and DXHR, there's definitely no need to canonise any of the endings. The world can change enough in the time in-between to make any one of those a viable starting point. Besides, as the novel pretty much points out, whatever gets released, will be spin-doctored by Picus within the week.
  18. Or you knock out some old lady in the mall, and buy it with money from her purse.
  19. Semi-related to the earlier discussion, just got a mail from the ex, telling me that she and her 5-day old son are doing well. Have an urge to go sit on the balcony, look at the miserable rainy weather outside and down that bottle of chivas.
  20. Agreed, the slow build-up was IMO suitably atmospheric.
  21. Well said, and really agree with the final sentence.
  22. . Well, I understand black humor but I think game industry is full of it now. I've seen worse things.
  23. Have you actually read their comments? Most are kinda gibberish...and even some who give actual "examples" of how DXHR is lesser than the original don't seem to notice these factors are existent in the original Deus Ex...such as ventilator crawling...some even claim that modded Deus Ex has much better graphic...there are some more but, read them by yourself if you don't value your time. I have no idea why they need to bother writing such "reviews"... Personally, I found people who write overall positively about the game tend to give keener criticisms. Plot has its ups and downs. I, personally would like it better without cartoony villains and similarly cartoony conspiracy theory, which would have gotten rid of boss battles, too. Some factors felt mutually exclusive but I guess they needed to balance the content with mainstream standards. While some factors try to be taken seriously, some other factors won't allow the players to take them seriously. That's a pretty good analysis. I guess I like it so much because I have so much trouble taking anything seriously.
  24. Aforementioned UT1 (all UT's though, really, to be true) Aforementioned Morrowind BG2's special vendor got added in the patch. Heart of Winter for Icewind Dale Multiplayer for Deus Ex (it sucked, but was free!) DLC maps for Majesty and X-pack (you asked which I remembered) The Sims got free stuff. Now even these are paid, if you don't include the dozens of x-packs Dungeon Siege and expansion got bonus missions. That's all I can think of right now around the 2000 timeline. I'm still under the impression that the extra vendor for BG2 wasn't included in an official patch, but both of them had to be added via unofficial hacks (then from Baldurdash, now via weidu). Heart of Winter was a paid expansion. Trials of the Luremaster wasn't, but I believe riots were breaking out over HoW's shortness, which is why it was done. I don't think we've exactly blown my prediction of ~5 out of the water, here, certainly not in a scope that would say that in the good old days, dlc was free, certainly not in a scale that would be significant in any way.
