  1. Cops can't think of a plan B ? Interesting reaction from you, expected as much.
  2. Based on their gang like behaviour (it is funny that people believe complaints go anywhere with the cops), I can't see why, but not a surprise I suppose. But good to know you know some good cops as well, for all that is worth. I know a couple of cops too, were the typical meathead ginos in high school - scary that they give these guys guns. As for 'us vs them', well police referring to citizens as 'civilians' is a sign they're ok with it or have themselves deluded to believe they are military. And also NA cops seem to have some problems in comprehending on how to de-escalate situations or not flex constantly.
  3. Needlessly spraying people with pepper spray and that's all eh ? No point being snarky just because I think that to those much is given, much is expected. What kind of fascists do you work for ?!
  4. UC Davis cop just lost his job, as near as a quick Google revealed - no charges against him. Cops losing their jobs over allegations, well I'll have to see that to believe it. And the dad that arrested the boyfriend for his BS reasoning should have lost his job, not just a suspension.
  5. Used to use the Civilopedia as a first source in high school Ancient Civ, and I think some people used AoE to demonstrate Thermopylae. Heh, good times. Course you could do something like that now, though not much benefit really.
  6. So the occasional heavy handedness and superior attitude is just a-ok to you then ? Nice to get such leeway due to 'bad' working conditions. People expecting 'clean cut' of those given weapons and powers over them isn't that ridiculous. That case of the cop rustling his daughter's boyfriend was pretty funny, I think a handful of here were ok with that because well he's a parent.
  7. Well, good to see he'll learn from his experience.
  8. Calax, you don't know what he had to deal with man. And they probably called him a pig.
  9. Heh, right. Soldiers in a warzone or in some third world hell hole see that. I find it funny that you say they ask for it or antagonize them, though. That kind of attitude fits bullies or enforcers not supposed keepers of the peace (though in practice it's just picking up easy prey or being hard with people that can't fight back). If cops here ended up in body bags more, I might believe all this "thin blue line" talk, really, but I always hear of not understanding what they deal with to excuse them doing stuff ranging from roughing up drunks, mouthy kids, or those scary people filming them. Volourn is right that they should be held to a higher standard, but they aren't and you seem cool with that. Cops are dumb beasts to be feared not respected.
  10. Hm, that bad ? But hey, no reason to hate a day off for that or wish people bodily harm.
  11. Good for you guys, still not holding my breath for the police here to get that kind of treatment. The sentence being lenient is just that I wonder what a civilian (heh, funny to use that term opposed to cops) would get. As for that inept BART cop, he deserves everything coming to him.
  12. They should send these cops to Iraq or Afghanistan for a tour.
  13. You guys do have an impressive national bird
  14. Ghost Recon. So fun creeping around peering for Russians to snipe or ambush. Not many epic firefights in the game, but I suppose that is more realistic given the scale.
  15. Good old educational games, I miss Midnight Rescue.
  16. The 'Are they punished?' question is probably the huge part. In my experience here, cops get off pretty easy for anything and if they even are punished - they still keep their job. G20 had huge issues with cops' hard man fantasies getting the best of them - roughing up reporters, people just sitting around and nothing is done to any of them as the investigating branch can never find anything, etc. People are surprised in fact a cop got sentenced to 15 months for forcing a lady to give him oral sex (kind of light, really) , but the funny bit is he might not lose his job. Generally, you get a sense of a law for them and a law for us. Or like Bryant's quote in Blade Runner, 'if you're not cop, you're little people'.
  17. What, no giant list of the way the US sucks, abuses the world, is a rogue state ? Well, the day is young I suppose.
  18. Tell that to Toronto cops when you get a chance. Significant numbers of them believe that All in all, is a safe job for them. And when they do buy it, they get everything short of their corpse mounted on a throne of gold. But it is fun that you should be nice to cops just out of fear of them doing whatever they want and be covered for it, rather than any respect.
  19. Key word is 'sounded'
  20. Just work related stuff, better to jump now than later, so to speak
  21. Seems from the outside that people are pretty pissed off about him and his policies more than the usual grumbling you'd get here.
  22. Looks like a time for a change in life, here. Goody.
  23. Or both Shaundis.
  24. Better than the speech from Independence Day.
  25. I assume this type of screw up is more common than not, just due to nature of things. But, Obsidian might have better business management than DF. Also assuming Schafer and crew didn't all make house payments or get new cars with the money
