  1. this. subs are for kids who play all day every day and pay with their moms' credit cards. one time purchase would be best, of course Or people with jobs that play the game enough to justify $15 a month
  2. Could argue it would be within the medium - so LOTR films aren't regurgitating the books. I didn't really pick up on the Korean version being exaggerated emotions - some of the stuff the characters come across make it sensible. Mi-do does seem pretty kooky, granted. Coworker suggested I watch I Saw the Devil, next, so I guess that is the target.
  3. Always think about this when doing anything. "Is there a likelihood of me getting shot by doing this?" Followed by: "would it be worth it?" Well, naturally. Can't think of many things that would be worth it. YOLO, man.

  5. Saw Old Boy. Interesting movie, gets a bit odd near the end. Still does a good job of making the villain a bit sympathetic, the protagonist less so - though I was expecting the reason for the incredibly elaborate revenge scheme to be a bit different.
  6. http://www.gog.com/promo/goodbye_deponia_launch_promo_191113 Buy Deponia 3 and get 1 & 2 free. I feel vaguely disappointed in myself for not waiting until now to buy 1 & 2
  7. They need to send some NYPD down to fight the cartels in Mexico, heh.
  8. Banks are some Initech-esque nightmare to work for, when I'm ever on site it's amazing to see the BS they have to deal with and red-tape everywhere. I do like the progression charts though as you level up, can move from Junior Programmer to Junior Programmer Analyst to maybe Technical Programming Analyst someday!
  9. The only soda I can't ditch is ginger ale. Tastes great cold and flat as well.
  10. That's going to be at the end of the week, they'll march his naked ass out on to the street to a guard of dishonor.
  11. Sounds like the situation here, though. Seems they value efficiency though.
  12. I didn't say it was fun. And these are our patches, not MS'. They need to test an enhancement and that depends on a certain baseline version which their test environment wasn't at. How that came to be, I don't know.
  13. Sadly, he ran against an actual crackhead/dealer and won - being a good white bread guy and all. Guy said his experience with crack dealing proved he can manage a large business.
  14. Not an attack, crackhead was going to help his brother or something.
  15. Yeah, we had our servers hacked twice last year by friendly hackers (apparently from the country next door). Very fun sitting in an office all morning staring at a PC screen and being neither able to do any work nor at least kill time online while waiting to be able to do work. That would be cool if it happened here. They just forgot to install patches so the tests are invalid. Woo. At least I have my Kindle.

  17. Then better hope that you'll never be the target of a really dangerous burglar or burglars. I like being prepared though, totally beats hoping in my book. I'd be interested to see what the statistics are on how many people are victims of a home invasion and would have been able to prevent it if armed with a gun. I mean, sure, it may make you feel better, but if the odds are the same as getting hit by lightning, I'm not going to walk around wearing a large lightning deflection rod on my head just in case. That'd be one hell of a statistic to gather that they "would have" been able to prevent it if they had a gun. How do you determine that, exactly ? Doesn't really matter what you decide to defend yourself with - a gun is no more evil than a sword or a iron rod - never hurts to at least be prepared. Shotguns would work best I think, the racking sound is intimidating in its own right. Also Don't think they would be very effective at it, to be honest
  18. Payday 2 with three friends. Sure is fun to plan out a stealthy approach to some missions, although it just turns into Heat most of the time. Tempted to cheat a bit and watch how some others do it, but is more fun to figure it out ourselves.
  19. Having nothing to do at work due to external factors isn't as fun as one would think. Passing the time reading up on bash scripting.
  20. Yeah, I figure I'll wait until they patch it up or show that their vision of the game was crap to begin with, either or time works to the advantage.
  21. Some nimble backpedalling
  22. Finished Reamde at last. It'd make a good movie, decent characters - Sokolov and Zula are my favourites in it. The game in the book, well, Stephenson sure had a fanciful view of what's possible. His endings are meh as expected, this one wrapping up pretty fast and the antagonist gets it in a relatively anti-climactic way. On to the Forever War.
  23. Some awesome silat on concrete action.
  24. Heh, yeah .. I'm usually pretty upfront about it though, but there certainly is a truth to Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.. As to what happened... I wrote a pretty long story heh, but decided against posting it.. I wanted to have some alone time with a very cute bartender, she likes me and I like her - and last night was a great chance, but then my ex shows up and after that another girl I was flirting with who was very gropey. The bartender got pissed (the timing was impeccably bad on both accounts) and I ended up going home with the flirt instead. Thereby pretty much burning my bridge with the girl I actually wanted. Should have told the gropey girl to **** off, then. Stay focused on the objective! Amazingly, we've gone a month without a resignation at work. Well ok, one guy left to go to Germany (his wife got a posting there academically I believe) but that doesn't count. Maybe ?
