The All Things Political Thread (The World and US Reunited)
It's not that dramatic an increase in control, though. Have to think the Pentagon doing things the civilian leadership was not involved in or is even aware of is a bad idea going forward, as well. Is why you lost 'nam!

What is scary about civilian oversight of the military, though ? As for the Pakistan example, I think they'd still go with the drone strikes all that changes is they need to check it with others.

Weird, random, interesting - now with 100% less diacriticals
Gamers are just whiners, hopefully the industry exploits them more and harder in the future.

How does this decision affect any of this though ? Sounds like more civilian control of military which isn't a bad thing.

What You've Done Today - As the World Turns
Probably could, at least the meth, maybe cheaper than Oregon. Meth addiction is a problem in Maine, last I had checked. Also seems that in smaller towns, it's always meth.

If anyone asks me "Why?" the answer is usually "Because I want to end this conversation".

Well, other than AVX-512 using some code that an Intel AVX expert optimized probably none. But the point was scorning Reddit for hardware discussion. Sort of funny how Anandtech is getting grumpy comments from others for their early review of it, although I guess can understand some people who may not bother reading other reviews. Well and HWUB pulling a YongYea and reading Anandtech's review

Company migrating our stuff to The Cloud and of course tonnes of stuff is breaking or they just flat out ignored some services that need to be moved over, so that's fun. Also taking a course on Project Management, sort of laughing at the instructor emphasizing how important it is to keep a tight hand on project scope and purpose. Should forward this to Chris Roberts. Some of the things are kind of useful, like asking "Why?" 5 times when you want to do something.

What Are You Playing Now: The meaning of life
I recall that, only for the random "Achilles beating at your gates" line. Also recall the journal entries being quite funny, although the protagonist keeps nattering on about a female character's breasts way too much. I like that your assisting officer doesn't even warrant a name, is just called Officer

Admiral Grace Hopper for her work on compilers, among others. Same vein, Margaret Hamilton for her work at NASA and in computing. Catherine II of Russia, should be fairly obvious why (although I guess no Pole would be a fan of hers ) Massie's biography on her is a good read, tangentially.

That place is a bit overrun with the AyyMD crowd. And again regardless, it's Reddit, go read Anandtech forums or something. At least there some people do realize CPUs have uses outside gaming 😛

Returned to Nexus : The Jupiter Incident as I never did finish that, the game CTD'd on my P3 way back in the day. Still looks decent after all these years.

Wonder how widely AVX-512 is used.

Disappointed in my Youtube recommendations, seems they think I am super into whining about SJWs and videos about guns (mostly crap where some guy "reviews" things like the SCAR or Glock) for some reason. I guess I should be grateful it's not Prager. Almost miss getting the Muslim dating service ads.- The All Things Political Thread (The World and US Reunited)
Well to be fair to the Mail's audience (Sun readers too ashamed to publicly gawk at knockers), that is a very common thing.- The What Are You Reading thread (now with a simpler name)
Don't really recall having a favourite one, did read a lot of Crichton's books when I was 10-12. I did enjoy Sphere the best. Did read a lot of Star Wars novels, at least before the EU got really weird, hah. Plodding on through First Man in Rome - find it a slog as some of the dialogue is George Lucas tier, especially the bit where Julila is hitting on Sulla. Not offensively bad so far, but I have a high tolerance I guess - only two books I have ever quit on was Executive Orders and Sandworms of Dune.- The All Things Political Thread (The World and US Reunited)
"Ebay on Thursday started removing listings for the six Dr Seuss books that are no longer going to be produced. They emailed people who had listed the books, saying that the post violated their 'offensive materials policy'. " Huh, doesn't really mesh with the headline. Nor do the screenshots from the eBay emails, that's the Mail I suppose. Time to go watch some people impotently wring their hands about 'cultural marxism'.- The All Things Political Thread (The World and US Reunited)
Childhood books made me look up stuff on the Hardy Boys...and wow that series got weird.- The Metal Thread
