  1. Just in case this isn't deliberate trolling, I'd like to point out the logical inconsistency that Deus Ex was one of your favorite games and also required being a male. Also, I'd be more sympathetic if people weren't always giving me crap because I don't like playing female characters.
  2. Yeah, Conviction will be pretty sweet. AP has the flexible storyline, character creation, and dialogue system, but Conviction will probably deliver on the sneaking and shooting and beating dudes up.
  3. I have disagreed with GunFox in the past, but IMHO the first three paragraphs of his previous post are spot on.
  4. You know what else would sell? http://www.gametrailers.com/video/launch-g...-i-maed-a/54971
  5. Honestly, I mostly buy digital versions for my PC purchases these days. All said and done, I've had more trouble finding old manuals/discs than I have dealing with digital copy DRM. Also, I move on a pretty regular basis and having to ship and organize less physical stuff is a good thing.
  6. Notice I said "Yahtzee," not his actual name. Yahtzee is the persona he puts forth in ZP; I don't particularly care what he's like as a person.
  7. ZP is not about having taste, it's about being funny while truthfully bringing out the bad parts in games. Exactly, which is why I wouldn't count on Yahtzee having taste.
  8. I wouldn't count on Yahtzee to have good taste. Sometimes it occurs by chance, but as often as not it doesn't.
  9. I think the huge "Usual Suspects" moment at the end of the game will involve MT revealing that his name actually was Thornton all along.
  10. To play devil's advocate, it looks like the majority of the game will be the shooting and stealthing with conversations and safehouse stuff more to give an occasional change of pace. I agree that the RPG elements seem much cooler and make AP stand out more, but the footage so far suggests they are auxiliary to the combat sections in terms of gameplay hours spent. So, if we're spending most of our time in AP shooting and sneaking, it stands to reason that those elements should be solid. Otherwise we'd all just sit around customizing our gear and talking to NPCs on the phone, yet put the game down when the time comes to actually do a mission. Don't laugh, it's happened to me with other titles.
  11. It's like Yin and Yang, they balance out in the end. Or maybe not.
  12. I can't speak for others, but I feel pretty confident that AP will be a good game regardless of what Sega does. I don't feel particularly confident that it will be a huge commercial success regardless of what Sega does.
  13. Well, mostly, I think the visuals are a hard sell. The above blockbusters you mention all have pretty impressive graphics, which tends to move copies and smooth over any criticisms (shallow) people have. That said, I agree in that marketing on Sega's part wouldn't hurt. That said, there's no way they'll invest anything like the ad budget for MW2, AC2, or ODST.
  14. I think it'd be pretty cool having a demo in which you make a major decision and it jumps to the point in the game where some impressive consequence occurs. That said, I mostly just want to play the game before the release date without going to PAX.
  15. The only thing anybody could possibly infer from that incredibly vague statement is that you prefer bug-free games.
  16. IMO, the late-page discussion is much more interesting than a thread in which we all take turns saying "the article is stupid."
  17. I don't think most of the posts on this forum "help" with anything except informing new people and goading the devs into providing info. Mostly it serves either those two purposes or is some kind of abstract discussion that people find interesting. Also, I'd like to point out that my first post expressed skepticism about the CQC animations and eventually led to the devs posting which martial art they were using in the game.
  18. Then we'd just have established trolls instead of new people with actual concerns. Personally, I can respect the decision not to post on a forum prior to a game's release unless you have a major gripe. The only reason I'm here is because Obs is the shizzle, I'm particularly stoked about AP, and information was available on the forums long before there was much in the way of previews and videos.
  19. The play.com preview seemed mostly concerned with visuals. While I expect great things out of Obsidian, I do not realistically expect their games to look like Uncharted.
  20. Well, first of all, I will probably buy every game Obsidian makes because I've liked all of them so far. A lot of that has to do with story and being able to influence it. Second, the modern-day setting, I think this is quite underused and will be a somewhat fresh experience. Third, I'm pretty big fan of cover shooters and stealth games. Combining those mechanics with WRPG character creation seems like an interesting exercise if nothing else.
