  1. They should have Congressional hearings into this.
  2. Just a short rhinoceros ride from Capetown.
  3. You can stow away on a tramp steamer.
  4. Well, actually I was reading some stuff Spector said, and apparently it is mostly a kiddy game, although he's trying to make it fun for adults also. So may be Wii was a good decision, but I don't think the game will work as either it'll be too complicated for kids or boring for adults.
  5. Sure there is, you can move to Zimbabwe.
  6. I've bought the OEM version and it's a lot cheaper than retail, but before I install it I was wondering if it's really legal. So I read some stuff on the web and found this from an MS mod: OEM versions of Windows 7 are identical to Full License Retail versions except for the following: - OEM versions do not offer any free Microsoft direct support from Microsoft support personnel - OEM licenses are tied to the very first computer you install and activate it on - OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard - OEM versions cannot be used to directly upgrade from an older Windows operating system -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums...b3-cc55cf7b9231 So I guess it's OK, you just have to hope your motherboard doesn't die.
  7. Specter said the game was supposed to be for 360, PS3, and PC, and then they decided to make it a Wii exclusive. Big mistake IMO.
  8. Yes, cars are expensive too, therefore I should just go out and steal one. Also I don't think you need a lawyer if you go through the lottery like you're supposed to. It's not like Mexican immigrants aren't able to fill their legal quota because of cost.
  9. GTA used to be ostracized for its realistic depictions, but now according to the link in the first post, it's now considered cartoonish. Do you feel that MW2 will always remain a "serious and realistic" depiction of the situation? The link is a gamer's association website, the guy normally defends games like GTA. Now he's forced into a rather inconsistent position of being shocked by MW2 while defending GTA. Doesn't mean MW2 hasn't hit a new low, although WILL is right, it's in a close race with Dante's Inferno.
  10. Speaking of immigration: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics...er-adviser.html I wonder if Labor learned this trick from Democrats or Democrats from Labor.
  11. Again, where are you getting that information? The game is a work of fiction. Also, are you against the "Black Hawk Down" games? If not, why? They are much more of a "realistic portrayal of events which actually happened in a real-world setting" than Modern Warfare 2. Do you play as a terrorist in the "Black Hawk Down" game?
  12. Fantasy/abstraction vs realistic portrayal of events which actually happened in a real-world setting.
  13. Yes, but the context is a little different there.
  14. Well, the other games already desensitized gamers enough to where it's now acceptable to play a terrorist, which would be unthinkable a decade ago. No, I don't think it'll turn gamers into terrorists, but it does contribute to indifference to other people's suffering and to moral relativism when re-enacting the real murder of real people is acceptable to play for entertainment. I think the point there was if they're just criminals, they don't have any particular reason to kill you if you don't resist, whereas if they're terrorists, they probably are there to kill you. Feel free to use that in you next case.
  15. The next step for Bioware: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3176676 This may just be the most pathetic thing I've ever read.
  16. Postal wasn't a mainstream game by any stretch of the imagination, and the whole point of it was to be as offensive as possible. And I don't think anyone is saying players are like real terrorists, it's just the implications of playing a terrorist in a very realistic setting ripped from today's headlines, but I guess nothing is off limits anymore, I'm really not surprised.
  17. You still find it disturbing, since it's the first time it's done. So are you saying something being disturbing is a reason to put it into a video game?
  18. http://www.gamepolitics.com/2009/10/28/lea...-footage-shocks You get to play as a terrorist mowing down civilians in an airport, yay!
  19. I don't think it matters. May be he accidentaly locked himself in. May be you did it initially as a joke. The crime is not letting him out, not how he got there in the first place.
  20. I don't think there's anything sticky about it, unless you're putting yourself in danger, as Gorgon said. Edit: Let me change the scenario to make it more obvious. Let's say someone is locked in a small room where he'll suffocate unless you let him out. You choose to not let him out. You think that's not murder?
  21. I'd just rather relax and go at my own pace and take a year if I want to. I don't need a game to feel like a finals exam.
  22. @Purkake Exactly. No, I only got 2 or 3 pieces, I have no idea where the other ones were. I got to stay and guard the place forever, but it was presented as some kind of reward.
  23. Do you really think it's that different from doing it himself? Carrying out justice is not a waste of money, it's the most important function the government has. It is entirely different. It is actually the definition of different. One is an action, the other is inaction. I don't think it's morally different. If I have the opportunity to prevent someone from being killed, and I stand by and do nothing, then it's still murder. I'm not a lawyer, but I believe the law sees it the same way.
