Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
The devious trick they've figured out is that if you want to play multiplier with your friends you all have to get the same game. All the kids are playing it right now.

Debate: With great power comes great responsability
Sweatshops exist in third world countries because of poverty. They're still a hell of a lot better than being out on the street with nothing to eat. I don't think lay offs from sweatshops is what we're talking about here.

Debate: With great power comes great responsability
To take EA as an example, they're laying off people because they've cancelled 15 games. Would EA be forced under your system to continue making those games? Or would they just have to keep paying those people for doing nothing? Layoffs are a necessary evil in capitalism because it removes people from jobs where they're not needed and forces them to find jobs where they are needed. Failure is painful but necessary to maintain market discipline, that's the only reason capitalism works at all. Also you're grossly exagerrating with your "worked to death". Employees are not slaves, if conditions are bad in one company they're free to find another job, plus there are worker protections in the law, plus everyone knows mistreating your employees is not a way to be successful.

If you're going to tell everyone how to run their business, just have the government take it over and be done with it.

EA cutting 1500 jobs
They're also cancelling all the risky projects, and are going to just try exploiting their big franchises year after year. No more Mr Nice Guy, back to trying to out-evil Activision. http://www.gamebanshee.com/news/95724-elec...n-projects.html

EA cutting 1500 jobs
Companies lay off while purchasing other companies all the time. One is operational expenses, the other a capital investment. Similarly, money they spend to buy other companies isn't considered an expense, thus doesn't contribute to a loss, the interest on the loan would be an expense though. Don't know what all that GAAP nonsense means.

EA cutting 1500 jobs
EA's losses are huge, they're bleeding money. A company is not a charity, it's there to make money for the shareholders, nothing else. I bet those of you complaining the most wouldn't like to spend your own money to employ someone you don't need, but then again you're probably producing nothing but internet rants. Also life isn't fair, no one owes you anything, including a job, waah, waah!

European Union
Seems pretty insane to me. Common market is a good idea though. Central governments should be smaller, less powerful, and more representative, not the other way around.

Mass Effect!
I never said it was a great shooter, but it's decent enough, and the magic powers and squad controls make it more fun also.

How's ME not a shooter? ME had "pause and issue commands"-schtick to begin with. And so what? You still aim and shoot in real time as usual.

So, that's games sold in Australia, not made in Australia. At least a lot of wine is actually made there.

Yes, I think you should have less and less health while the fights get harder and harder. What's so great about finishing a game anyway?

Are 'violent' games really violent?
Playing paint ball is kind of like multiplayer without any graphic violence. It's quite different from a game depicting sadistic/graphic violence. Like I said, it's all about the moral message the game sends. Playing paint ball doesn't send any message.

Well, I don't care about those, but I would've liked the top down view, which I can get later as I said, along with any mods if I get the urge.

That's OK, I don't blame you personally.

So you bought the more expensive version, limited version and are complaining about the price of the less expensive, "full" one? First I haven't bought anything yet. Second I'm not complaining, I'm saying if I have to buy a game twice, I'll wait till it goes down in price. Third, it's only limited depending on your priorities, I've decided for the first play through console offers certain irresistible advantages for me.

Well, my point is it could've worked like KOTOR in 3rd person, but worked more like the PC version in overhead mode, if there was one. Now I'll probably have to get both versions, but I'll wait until PC one drops in price and I'm ready to replay it.

My experience with emulated mouse pointers on consoles has typically been less than awesome. It would have definitely required a different approach in general to the control scheme from earlier than when I started on the project. Transitioning between different control schemes depending on your viewpoint starts to make things complicated as well. Surely if I can aim with the pointer, I can use it for positioning too. It also helps to make the pointer a bit "sticky", sort of like autoaim. As far as transitioning, if overhead was treated as a separate mode, like menus are a separate mode, having the controls work a little different would make sense I think. It's pretty common to do that on consoles, due to the scarcity of buttons.
