Maybe you're just spoiled. Hellgate looked pretty good on my system, it did the job well. Unless of course you played the horrible demo....
-
Vista is still inferior to XP as a gaming OS. I'd say once the SP1 and riper gfx drivers get released, it could be worthwhile to switch over Vista entirely.
-
Once the Codex "decides" that a game is worthwhile, they'll only drool positively about it. But that stills says nothing about the actual writing quality. But then again, I currently don't have time for such a huge, involving game anyway. I'm probably getting it early next year, when it is cheaper over Ebay, and when more patches have been released. In the meantime I'll just stick with Hellgate London, a game I can quickly enter, play and quit anytime and anywhere....lest to threat real life priorities. Now if I only would believe what I just wrote....

I agree that the grav gun was a bit overused in Ep1, but on the bright sight, it enables the devs to create some interesting events (like the Ep2 beginning: Alyxx uses the grav gun to release Gordon; or throwing the Magnussbombs at the Striders was just plain cool and required a bit skill). Also, you somehow have to use it for some puzzles, be it just clean up some debris, or pickup an item to activate a machine...yeah I know that sounds kinda banal, but the smartly developed puzzle sections are just what enriches HL2 so more.
-
I thought the guns are perfectly balanced. Just banging a whole clip into a zombie Quake-style isn't my thing, either. But I don't have to. HL2 really encourages the player to switch often, and to experiment a bit with the gravity gun and what you can throw at enemies. And the hunters are actually pretty cool, especially in the later fights.

There was some buzz before and during NWN2 release, so that certainly has something to do with it. New (full) game, more marketing, more buzz, more..eh journalism attention. Quite contrary, when MOTB hit the shelves, there was no significant marketing campaign whatsoever.
-
I was in the Beta, and surprisingly, it was actually very good for what it is: A Hack & Slash game done right. Very addictive, very atmospheric, and tons of ph4at loot to harvest. Best thing since Diablo 2 for sure!
-
I'm currently playing Mask of the Betrayer. I'm totally loving it! I wonder what I'll play next. Hellgate or Witcher, Hellgate or Witcher...hmm.

Somebody still didn't respond to my question, so copy&paste again: How's the writing quality of TW? I somewhere read a line "...suck dwarf ****"... I mean, that's not the sort of dialog I want to have in an RPG, nor actually expecting from a medieval fantasy setting. Unless it's something like Gothic where everyone responds like a pissed off brat, I expect a certain standard.
-
Yeah but if there are many of these, it will turn me off. There won't appear any sense of exploration when I see more loading screens than actual gameplay.
-
Nope, if you can talk to Sheva after the battle, you don't have to fear anything anymore....hopefully.

Not that I've anything against the company itself, it's just that I never got interested in any single Ubisoft game, with the exception of Beyond Good & Evil...but that's like 4 years back. Assassins Creed looks kinda meh too, and I expect the PC port will suffer under consoleritis with underwhelming button mashing combat. No thanks. Edit: I have to agree though that Jade Raymond is teh woman of Ubisoft... but that alone doesn't make me to buy Ass. Creed. -
I'm going for Crysis and Hellgate London this year, The Witcher next year.... when they hopefully have improved the long loading times I heard of.
-
It's not like anyone who intends to buy a hardcore RPG like MOTB actually cares about scores. This isn't HALO 3 or Gears of War. This game is intented for the DnD and Roleplayers crowd, thus they'll get it anyway due to the lack of options.

Normally, this bug occurs very seldomly. There's no clear ingredient what exactly let made the Journal Trigger a hiccup, but when battling Okku, look that no party member dies until he's defeated. Summon every creature at your disposal, set spell behaviour to "Overpowerd" and he and his crew should go down pretty fast without getting any scratch. After you defeated him, you should talk to Whitefeather. If she doesn't talk to you...well....

Double post sorry.
-
Unfortunately that's beyond what I know, sorry. I know you could do it with global variables in BG2 but NWN engines are a bit different on quest things I think. Maybe someone else here can help on that. I assume even if you cheated in the Spirit Eater curse yourself, Chapter 2 doesn't start, you can't get new quests from people, etc? I've posted my issue (as Mr. Pinstripe on the Bio boards) here: http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewt...m=121&sp=15 God I never had so much bad luck with a game.... anyway, I'm pretty close to resolve the problem if I just knew how to set that "GetJournalEntry" variable, so that the script fires up and I can continue... if that makes sense (I'm no programmer). Alternatively, I just could replay this whole friggin thing again (Take 3).... but I have enough of this baby-sh*t! First the broken quest, then this silly spirit-meter that kills my PC. Good that I found a script on Nwvault that resolves this annoying "feature" at least.
-
Do you mean I could use the dev console to sign the Quest as completed? How, which command? I rather hack the savegame than replaying these lost 6 hours all over again...
-
Oh god I'm so screwed. Now I finally managed to clear the furnace and crush the Lichking and his whole frucking crew....it was so hard, and I was so proud after I accomplished this feat...but what itched me earlier was that after the second defeat of Okku, I didn't get that spirit-meter, and the Quest wasn't signed as completed. Now, I did some investigation on the Bio boards, and found out... THAT I RAN INTO A GAMEBREAKER BUG!!!!!! Hell, I can't continue....and my last savegames are worthless. I'd have to load one before the second Okku fight, if I even have one! Blehh.... Please tell me there's a solution to this. A hack maybe? I don't want to go through this all again.
-
Yeah Kaelyn and Gann are awesome, although Gann seems to be a bit too much on the Emo side. Okku is cool too, although he goes down too fast now in my current God's Vault battle.... these pesky Vampires, gotta find a way how to deal with them properly.

I know a ton of great LA games. Which was better than most RPGs out there. Well for starters, you can't create the same stuff for the rest of life while staying profitable... -

Poor quality != Bioware. Personal taste aside (who everyone is entitled to), you can't go out and pronounce a game "poor quality" when nothing has been showed yet. -

Where did you get that nonsense? Do you mean Floodgate? Entirely different company, makes now mobile games I think....hehe. The Austin team is actually composed of some high-talent (so they say) staff that worked on Ultima Online and other Online games.... Austin seems to be a lively place for MMO talent, so it actually made sense to setup a studio there. Floodgate did not make the finished product SoU. Bioware slammed it together in a matter of months as the RC's FG kept sending bio were horrible. They then axed FG from the project and started mostly anew. Again, pumped out SoU in only a couple months. From my sources they pulled MASSIVE OT to get it out the door for the announced date. FYI Yeah I know. I wonder why they collaborated with Flootgate in the first place. -

No, not necessarily. Bioware probably worked on various prototypes until LucasArts was happy with the result. Once both companies agreed with the concept and final terms, the deal could be pronounced officially. LA will probably also provide some nifty technical improvements that Bio can use... like that Force Unleashed game that makes use of some exclusive physics middleware.
