The US Election, Part XI
California has such a bad rap for being overwhelmingly liberal...large swathes of the state are pretty conservative (and Christian!). This is the state that overturned...what was it, gay marriage?...by referendum not *that* incredibly long ago, after all. Yes, the state is still majority liberal...but it's not like the entire thing is just a hellhole of PC and SJW culture and such.

Nintendo NX
I remain a bit unconvinced of this game. I really disliked Skyward Sword, and this mostly looks more of the same. We'll see, I guess.

The 'Sidian Tyranny thread
For me, it's the basic problem of length and complexity. Most of BG's complexities (THAC0, AC, saving throws, resistances, etc. with probably the one exception of spell/ability effects), was stuff that happened behind the scenes: the actual combat system was pretty basic outside of a couple, maybe a few dozen battles throughout the game (think bosses, dragons, powerful spellcasters, etc.), and combat was usually pretty quick and deadly. In Pillars of Eternity, it feels like every single battle, down to the last kobold (or whatever the heck they called them: I can't remember, but there was a pretty equivalent creature) is overly complicated and lengthy. People complain about "trash" fights in BG2, but holy cow, give me these so-called trash fights if it means avoiding the repetitive monotony of PoE where I go through the same stupid encounter with the same stupid type of creature over and over and over, and it's just as complicated and long and tedious as it was the first time. As a huge BG/2 and PST fan, I really, really tried to like Pillars...Steam says I put 63 hours into it...but the more I played it, the more I hated it.

NFL 2016 Season
I hope we do. The one piece of bad news for you is that we don't play the Lions until week 16 and there's a chance that we will have nothing left to play for at that point in the season, so the Lions may be playing against the Boys 2nd stringers for half the game. To that end, I would expect you to root for the G-Men next week since a Dallas loss means they'll have to play hard the rest of the season while a win means they can start resting guys a bit. Of course, the Pack need to take care of business this week for any of that to matter. Who y'all playin'? Hosting Texans...then hosting the Seahawks... Now Texans, we SHOULD be able to handle...but we do have probably the worst secondary in the league, so maybe that's when Brock Osweiler and Hopkins finally look good: wouldn't surprise me. Seahawks, on the other hand...

NFL 2016 Season
Why's that? I don't have that much against the Cowboys...especially compared to most Packers fans. I don't take rivalries, current or historic, *too* seriously (this is all just a game and entertainment, after all), and the Cowboys almost certainly have the #1 seed locked down - the #2 at least. The Vikings, on the other hand, are competing for the division and/or a wildcard while the Packers are playing catch-up. This week isn't even the most important: the Lions@Cowboys is even more so, so please win there, too! Also, thank you for sparing my sight.

NFL 2016 Season
Just a few more hours before we see whether or not the Packers are all but eliminated from the playoffs, guys...and even if they win, then it'll be pretty much the same thing every week for the next five weeks. Can't wait. Well, I guess I can take comfort in the fact that we're not the Chargers...although, wait a second, the Chargers actually have more wins than we do. Darn. ...But we don't have an 8-2 team in our division, so yeah, (e): Actually, the Raiders are now 9-2, so that's even worse...

NFL 2016 Season
Weirdly, he was never really that good for us, so his sudden development into an elite corner is troubling, to say the least. Either it's a fluke, or our coaches were incompetent: it's pretty unusual for guys to suddenly become *that* much better in their fifth year when on a new team unless the previous team was using them wrong.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
This is actually rather interesting, because while Denuvo may not do any of those things itself, it does make any such DRM schemes baked into it much harder to remove...which I think we can safely presume that games using Denuvo are likely to do just exactly that, because otherwise, what's the bloody point of having Denuvo if it's not protecting the anti-piracy measures? Anti-modding? ...Anti-modding measures would be much more heinous to me than anti-piracy measures, anyways. Hey, wait, actually: does Denuvo make it so you can't mod your games at all? Anti-tampering and all that sounds like it should include modding...if so, most anything using it is a do-not-buy regardless of any DRM stuff.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
I can't give you any exact links, but /r/games on reddit has definitely talked a bit about Denuvo over the past year or so...less so recently, though, I'd say. This is where I initially heard about it and got some understanding of what it did...and heard when it was finally cracked. What does it matter where one hears about it?

Movies You've Seen Recently Thread
I saw like ten minutes of that movie on TV once and turned it off thinking it was awful. I started watching right before a combat scene where they wasted probably literally a few thousand bullets on the monsters they were shooting at while somehow missing literally every single one it looked like, followed up by showing that only a couple of bullets were really necessary if they had an accuracy whatsoever, and then one person used a knife to cut off one of the monster's like...entire upper body clear through, and that's when I turned it off.
