Vidgy Game Soundtracks
Yeah, that's more like a regular song than orchestrated music, which I can appreciate. RE: vocals in video game music: I'm super picky about vocal-work in general (misophonia and a broad dislike of most voices in general, sadly...), so it's nice when I find *any* music with vocals that I like, whether game music or not. The MOTHER soundtrack instantly became one of my favorite game soundtracks because it has vocal work that I like (which is especially surprising, because it has a variety of different vocal and music styles - and combine that with having probably the best tunes the NES had to offer to begin with!)...but for the majority of cases, I'm unlikely to particularly care for it. The first song you linked, for example, I didn't mind the first vocalist, but the second one instantly grated on me. Combine that with a really basic and repetitive, er..."melody", and the song just didn't do much for me, .

No, it's just weird...it's like, I listen to early game orchestral music like Jet Force Gemini, or even Baldur's Gate...as well as occasionally a newer work like Super Mario Galaxy...and it's like, these songs have actually interesting melodies and compositions. I listen to something like your Nier song, or the vast majority of a Souls or Elder Scrolls game, and everything just sounds super generic and samey to me. Don't much understand the appeal, and never have.

The thing that I hate about Watcher's Keep, is that I always do it way too early, like Chapter 2 of SoA early, so that it's a real challenge, particularly when you throw on Sword Coast Stratagems and the 50% XP reducer mod. And then I finish it, leave and go to Spellhold and realize that I'm ludicrously overleveled, and I lose interest in that playthrough. Should really start using that SCS component that makes it so it's not accessible until ToB...I always think I won't do it, and then I do. Whoops.

Politics 2017 part V
By people who aren't even a part of the group in question. Not that I don't think Jews themselves wouldn't be offended, mind you - given that it's still recent history enough where brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, mothers, fathers, grandparents of still living people were mass murdered on an industrial scale, I imagine it's still a rather touchy subject...along with people who were affected by other deaths as a result of Hitler's actions (...among others') and World War II. All things heal with time, one way or another, though...but for an event of this magnitude, surely it's not much of a surprise that the hurt from it would be felt beyond even our own lifetimes...a good 2% of the world population dying is a pretty significant event, and it's not even been a hundred years since. I wonder for how long the Black Death was talked about by those who survived it...and from them, the succeeding generations in stories passed down. Strange. I even opened up a direct link to the image itself, but it's just frozen.

How do you figure that they...er, figure that? On a side-note, I could swear that your avatar used to be animated. Am I crazy?

Politics 2017 part V
Pah, there are plenty of people more evil than Hitler! They just don't have the same power and resources to execute* upon it as much as he did! *Hmm, not the best choice of wording, now that I think about it.

Yeah, it wasn't really Holocaust denial...more like, pro-Hitler - or something amounting to a defense of him in comparison to Assad, at least, .

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
(note that this is a proper review, not just one of his casual "let me make as many jokes as possible even if I misrepresent the game for the purpose of one" videos a la his Mass Effect: Andromeda video) Sounds disappointing.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
You mean outside of the series having the best damn spectacle fighter gameplay ever and the goofy tongue in cheek narrative? Edit: @majek - Vanquish on PC would be awesome. And incredibly cringey storytelling and characters and character design, but...you know, we all have our guilty pleasures.

Politics 2017 part 4
This point would probably be more meaningful if Congress wasn't already wildly corrupt, and didn't have approval rates in or very near single digits.

What are you playing right now?
I believe they call that being a contrarian. Personally, I'm fairly nonplussed about the reviews myself, but for different reasons: I still play BK/BT once every few years, and so I'm not particularly bothered if the game is more or less identical to them. Those camera and character issues, on the other hand, may still be issues that paint my view of the game, however...

Our government has had such a good track record against whistle-blowers (and similar characters) over the last few administrations, though...

Build Thread 2.0
Yeah, it actually seems remarkably similar. A few things were jumbled up, others just straight up missing, and some worthless stuff was added...but overall, it looks pretty similar to Windows 7. I liked that the bootup W10 installer was quite literally exactly the same as the bootup W7 installer, minus a changed background color.

Neat, that should help push PC graphics forward some. (e): Well, sort of. That CPU is still pretty crappy, and not much different from the Xbox One/PS4 CPU. Although I guess it continues to help with multithread gaming, which is finally starting to gain some traction...

Don't buy an M.2 SSD if you plan on using Windows 7 on it. I spent a few hours trying to make it work, including figuring out how to manually patch my installer of Windows, but after finally getting it to recognize that the drive existed at all, the farthest I got was it reaching the Windows splash screen before it repeatedly blue screened. Guess it'll have to use Windows 10.

What are you playing right now?
Yeah, bad choice of words on my part. I haven't played a top-down shooter in about a million years, so I couldn't even remember what they were called...and went with what I thought it was. Now a jet sim in this would be something else...

I bought the $3 sequel and beat it. It was also a fun little game that was mostly similar. Yay!

What are you playing right now?
Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt. Short (around an hour) and free game on Steam. Kind of a combination of Earthbound (or more accurately, the indie game OFF, but I don't think virtually anybody has played that, so not a good reference point) combined with the Binding of Isaac and a top-down shooter* for combat. It was a little fun game, and I'm considering buying the $3 sequel. *Edited because I originally said fighter jet sim, which was not right, haha. (edit again): Apparently, this game was made in just 4 days at a game jam. I'm rather impressed, to be honest...it's not a fantastic game by any means, but it's pretty decent and fun for what it is.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
The reviews for Yooka-Laylee seem about right to me. Yeah, they're a little low, but it's basically because, "This game is more or less a direct spiritual successor to BK/BT...for better or for worse...and also it has a few issues that need fixing." So that they're low doesn't perturb me very much - that's just the nature of a niche game.
