That's a pretty good summary for describing regulations vs. competition. Unfortunately, we're stuck with the final situation in a lot of industries, especially internet.

NFL 2017-2018 Season
Somehow, the Packers won a game. If they beat the Browns next week, Rodgers comes back the next with a tough @Panthers match. There's no margin for error anymore. I'll laugh if we lose to the Browns.

Uhh... source? Because that sounds suspiciously like some Cobra Commander level bull****. http://www.latimes.com/business/hiltzik/la-fi-hiltzik-gop-social-security-20171130-story.html I do not believe those were the exact words, but that seems about right. Yeah, definitely not his exact words, but I mean, that's basically what he's saying. He also had some comments about how taxes can't be used to reduce the deficit...at which point I started wondering what the heck are taxes supposed to be used for in the first place if not for running/paying for our government. Our overall debt is more than just the federal government's, but I'm pretty sure that's a pretty big part of it. But yeah, make the deficit bad enough and they'll have their excuse for cutting benefits, overlooking the fact that they helped put us into this situation.

I mean, resolution gains tend to look the best out of everything you can do, though. You don't drop your resolution to get higher quality textures, after all - you drop the texture quality.

I mean, Marco Rubio (a Republican senator) revealed a few days ago that the end-game of increasing the deficit was so that they can cut medicare and social security. A libertarian ploy sounds better than that.

Well, at least we can finally put the whole "Republicans care about the deficit" nonsense to rest...and then the "Republicans care about states' rights" as well when the FCC royally screws up the internet and makes it so states can't do anything about it. Just crappy excuses for obstructionism when it suits them, nothing more.

"Former national security adviser Michael Flynn is expected to testify that President Trump instructed him to contact Russian officials during the 2016 campaign" http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/362773-flynn-to-testify-trump-directed-him-to-make-contact-with-the From the guy that brought you "Lock her up!", we've now moved on to "Lock them up!". Trump's next line of defense: "Donald Trump was a low level part of the Trump Campaign."

Didn't Tillerson keep calling Trump stupid? Probably had something to do with it, I imagine. I don't think you should be calling the president stupid, especially as a fed, but these are pretty rough times...- NFL 2017-2018 Season

Have they still not patched Nier on PC yet? Pretty crappy if they haven't.- The Music Listening thread
The Wolfe Tones were one of my dad's favorite bands, and he introduced me to them when I was a kid. There was a particular song he had me listen to, the Four Seasons, about the turning of the seasons and time running out and being forgotten. I liked the song, but didn't really have much appreciation for the band itself. I gave them another chance recently, and discovered some more songs I like by them, and I had planned to send him the song near his birthday earlier this year but decided against it for a couple of reasons. Still feel crappy that I never sent it to him before he killed himself. Don't think it would've changed anything, but it still is just a crappy thing.- You did WHAT Today

And now TIME magazine is being acquired by some Koch-associated company that will make all of this rather irrelevant. Gosh, I love modern media conglomerates.- What are you playing now
About the same for me. If you're gonna make a combat system that's much more weighty, harder, and time-consuming in every battle than in the game it's inspired by, please don't also have a remotely similar amount of trash mobs throughout the game that the BG games had, which already had way too many trash encounters as it is. The thing was, they all took like two seconds to deal with apiece because of the D&D leveling system (where being just like 2 levels higher makes you overwhelmingly more powerful in the low to mid-levels). So designing a system where every encounter is a serious tactical consideration and you have to play it seriously and at length or get crushed...you probably should reduce the amount of combat in it. Just can't stomach it.- NFL 2017-2018 Season
good golly gee whiz mccarthy is a terrible, terrible gameday coach. his total lack of football situational awareness cost us that game, nothing more. off with his head and all that. you might be an amazing coach at everything else every other day of the week, but your idiotic decision-making during actual games has cost us wins.- The Music Listening thread

Wouldn't count on it - Jerry utterly loves that guy, and you guys were the #1 seed in the NFC last year. It's probably gonna take 2-3 years of really sucking for that to happen, and with the amount of talent you guys have on at least the offensive side of the ball, that'll probably never happen. - Politics Thread: 13 Ghosts
