  1. Oh come on: people have problems. Although maybe I have the opposite kind of problem, since I obstinately refuse to ever read into characters that way (as well as the notion of "shipping" - please read that word with absolute venom - in general). With that context, I sort of understand more why you hate that particular scene in season 1 - I probably would have had too if I had to deal with with other distasteful watchers making such a big deal of it. Have these people never had friends who put them themselves into embarrassing or compromising situations...or friends that needed support exactly after such incidents? They really weren't given a chance (not that I think they would've matched up anyways - at least for me, Nezu had just the right kind of voice with the right kind of personality and wacko situation that made her significantly more fun and interesting that most), but yeah, they weren't all bad - a lot better than something like a deadbeat/pulseless Kaolinite. Huh, yeah, you're right that it was good for Rei that Seiya came in first - the other way around, and you could say that she only tried to help Seiya specifically because she already heard that Usagi really wasn't interested in him. Definitely illustrates Rei's trust and love for Usagi...this season pretty much cements the whole "best friend" idea between them, I think, . Hm: I still find Aluminum Siren and Lead Crow to be more distasteful than Tin Cat...and actually, it's not really even close. Maybe it's because I don't have proper context for it, maybe it's because I have a greater distaste for specifically more "anime" types of skimpiness like those two were designed...and maybe it's also because the Sailor Starlights have already inured me to a much worse version of it - at least Tin Cat has a proper skirt and shirt, and is mostly covered up. Her hat thing or whatever is probably the weirdest/worst part of her getup to me, .
  2. @ArtistFormerlyKnownasKP THE TRUTH that you NEED to know about the gem called Lapis Lazuli...
  3. The whole "talk about it with others" is the main reason I used to do it, but I'm also saying screw it to that, it's not worth it to me at this point, . Speaking of Usagi and Rei, I was watching the intro for Sailor Stars, and there's that part where they all hold hands together and go to spinnyworld - but the first two hands actually properly grab each other, while the last three more just stick their hands on top of the other two...which made me curious as to whom the first two were, since it was a little difficult to follow. Well, I slowed it down, and what do you know, it's Usagi and Rei! Don't that figure? I watched the baseball and plane episodes, which were pretty good, but I didn't have much to say about them - well, except for Minako and Rei tying up the announcer and hijacking the game, because of course they did, . That, and I felt a little bad for Lead Crow, who is like the very definition of anime tsundere, but very obviously had a soft spot for her "rival" (or should I say "cousin"?). I was very right that they would be no match for Nezzy. Episode 23:
  4. Not that I'm watching anything that's in the process of coming out right now anyways, but I've completely and utterly sworn off anything that is doing weekly releases at this point - waiting until the season is done before starting it. I've learned that lesson too many times, as it literally markedly decreases my enjoyment of anything I try to watch that way. Need to be able to watch stuff at my own pace without getting annoyed by cliffhangers and more filler-ish episodes that wouldn't be annoying while watching in a group of episodes, but very much are when it's just a single episode a week. Speaking of Sailor Moon .PDFs, I also want to try Codename Sailor V at some point, particularly since I already have the .CBRs for them. Hoping Sailor V doesn't fail me where Sailor Moon did.
  5. Madoka Magica is probably what I'll watch after finishing Sailor Moon since all y'all watched it and it's pretty short, but I'll be on at least a little bit of a break in between. I have totally exhausted my TV watching abilities over the past 5-6 months, in between rewatching the first three seasons of SU, piles of Sailor Moon, Speed Racer, Evangelion, Hilda, OK K.O., Infinity Train, and some odds and ends of other shows. There was once upon a time that I had only ever watched exactly two shows all the way through - I'm still adjusting, .
  6. good lord, no wonder I didn't have a strong impression of Minako prior to R, who the hell is this girl and what has she done with my Minako
  7. Oh come on, Minako would make way more sense if you're gonna have someone get mind controlled - the only time she ever has strong will about anything are strange, bizarre obsessions/fixations. ...But I guess I remember you saying that Minako is way different from the anime version, and instead plays more of a generic leader role that sort of fills in for Usagi when Usagi doesn't know what to do or how to lead?
  8. lmao - neighbors (OR HER SCHOOL OR FRIENDS?!) ask Ikuko about her after she's left, she's gonna be like "uh, no, I don't have a pink-haired daughter...UNLESS YOU MEAN CHIBI-CHIBI? but no, I'm pretty sure I would know if I had some other pink-haired daughter..." *next month after Chibi-Usa has come back* "what are you talking about, she's always been here!" *next month after she's left again* "sorry, never heard of her, I only have one daughter...if that" @majestic
  9. Now that you mention it, what the heck does Ikuko think of Chibi-Usa suddenly disappearing? Early into SuperS, Ikuko was talking about how she was so happy with and proud of all of her children, Chibi-Usa included, and was looking forward to all of them growing up and getting married. It was actually one of the sweeter moments of the season, especially given it happened right after Chibi-Usa had actually legitimately wronged Usagi (which is like the only time that happens in SuperS) and wanted to apologize. There are literally still photos of Chibi-Usa around - I've seen at least one of them in Usagi's room within the past few episodes I've watched. @majestic Ugh, I remember your description of this from the first time you watched it, . In regards to Crystal...yeah, just play the Riker video again: it was all a mad fever dream, don't try to think about it or make sense of it.
  10. I wish I could repress that. There are times she looks like she's literally about half the age she's supposed to be...and actually, that happens a bit to Steven as well. The show got too anime!
  11. I'm not velcro-hand (well, not all the time anyways), but I am pretty permanently velcro-wrist, and it can be super annoying. Real bad for sweatshirts/hoodies, too.
  12. Here are a couple of examples I found: And that's not even mentioning proportions (both their own bodies as well as relative to other characters) and heights, which are constantly out of whack. For majestic, a comparison of Connie, who is very badly affected at points (unfortunately uses a picture from S2, although not particularly spoilerish): What's weird is I prefer characters from different art styles: Jeff & Joe's Pearl, Lauren & Hillary's Garnet, either of those two teams' Amethysts...but both of their Steven's look the two worst versions out of all four teams to me. I don't know who made that Connie monstrosity, but it is borderline unforgivable to me.
  13. If it was Amethyst, you could maybe that excuse. But the reality is, pretty much every character suffers from huge animation inconsistencies: years back, I looked at a sheet someone had compiled of each major character from each of the major artists, and it was pretty wacky to see how different each character looked depending on who was doing it.
  14. Oh, also, SU animation - what the hell is this? A few episodes later... Heck, even within the same episode: These are the same art team? Somehow, I don't freaking think so. Even just like the shape of Pearl's head/hair, or where her gem is, changes a lot as the different artists take over from each other.
  15. Episode 19: Episode 20:
  16. She ended up supplanting Garnet for second favorite for me. Pearl, of course, is Pearl.
  17. man don't leave us hanging, start writing those spoiler blocks for each and every episode smh my head Fine, I'll help you out and do it for you. Okay, what do we got here...Serious Steven:
  18. Heh, you've got me there.
  19. Or maybe Steven was Mamoru all along, while Connie is actually Usagi? LE: That was pretty brutal. At least it got a little lighter towards the end. Don't do social media, kids. Episode 17, the beach episode: Episode 18:
  20. @majestic Lindsay Ellis: Yeah, I watched some of that yesterday, but not all of it. Half because it's ludicrously long (nearly two hours!), half because it was just really sad and depressing and none of it should've been anything that ever needed to be said online and she doesn't owe any explanation to either the right-wing diet Nazis (as she calls them) or the left-wing virtue signalers/tail-devourers on Twitter...or anybody else.
  21. Hey, you make fun, but Cat Fingers is only as far as I got into watching the show with my nieces because the end of that episode freaked them the hell out and I realized that yeah, maybe should wait a few more years for this. Probably a kid who can't buy or make chicken in his tiny coastal town, . Though I have to admit, popcorn on all of that does seem pretty disgusting.
