This was a well written article. I'm quite optimistic, the promise of a reactive world combined with Obsidian's brand of writing can make for a great gaming experience. Btw, wasn't there supposed to be a trailer release at E3? Any word on that? As for the length, even if it's just 20 hours, if the game delivers on the multiple paths front then it'll be worth a least two playthroughs, if not more. I'll take quality over quantity any day. And I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I think that mostly is a result of the air being thick with smoke in that part of the level (the building is on fire) I thought as much, there's a bit of fire in screens 3 and 4 anyway. Still, that smoke effect makes the pics less attractive than the others.

Brian Eno - The Plateaux of Mirror It's 2:08 AM over here and it's raining. Brian Eno's ambient sounds are very fitting right now.
-
Well, it's only been day one. The trailer will probably pop-up tomorrow or one of the other days.

Pics 2,3 and 4 suffer from a severe lack of contrast but the rest look nice. Character models and faces are excellent. I am so going to play this game!

Groove Armada - Lovebox ... it's groovy!

These new ATI cards are hoooootttt! And I don't mean just performance, the 4850's temperatures stay above 70 degrees celsius. Anyway, here's a very interesting preview of the Radeon 4870 X2 on TechReport. It's ridiculously fast, even though they tested only an engineering sample. http://techreport.com/articles.x/15105

Love the intro! "breaking news: your face" Anyway, here's hoping we get a good amount of media and new info, besides that trailer.

Game keeps crashing on onderon, any tips?
fastpunk replied to misternugg's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You guys should try to run the game with an older Forceware driver. It might work. Don't know about you but I've encountered quite a few bugs with old games and the new NV drivers. -

No need to introduce the dude in my avatar. The Exile is probably my favorite game protagonist. Him and The Nameless One actually.

Unexpected! Anyway, I'm calling it quits. Gotta get some sleep. Peace!

@ Xard: I don't have a problem with this sort of shortcuts in general, but not in this spot. True, it's always good to have a choice. But bashing the console renders the convo with the HK droid pointless. Without that option, players would have been forced to talk to the droid and get some info in order to proceed... and the droid gives you some good context and a few bits of story, something rare in an otherwise combat-focused level. That's why I find this a dubious design decision. Anyway, thread hijack over.

Yup. I'd be nice to see some pics of the pieces.

Those must be Melirinda's words... Anyway, today I just hung around the house. Had a lovely Age of Empires II 3-way match.
-
Really? Now that's cheap design. Didn't even notice you could do that. I went through that whole conversation with the HK droid. No regrets though, it was a good one. Those HK units have quite the personality.
-
@ Xard: The e-mails in Bloodlines were brilliant stuff for sure. There was another option. If you had a high enough persuade skill you could trick the HK droid to playback the whole code with the voice you needed cause the droid could imitate voices, like the T-101 in Terminator 2.

Ah yes, that was a great one! And if I remember correctly, that scene wasn't in the graphic novel. The Wachowskis made that one. I'll leave you a link to that 'conversation' I mentioned, so that everyone can see for themselves. It's pure awesomeness! http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/V_for_Vendetta#Dialogue Look for "[V is talking to the statue of Madame Justice atop the Old Bailey]".

... it's not so much an anti bush message. Read the origional comic. It wasn't an anti Bush message at all. It was about freedom of speech, and independent thought and they slammed these values in with a sledgehammer. I enjoyed it a great deal. Yup, good movie. Though the original material, Alan Moore's graphic novel, was better. The characters, especially V, were more... how should I say... morally gray, not so easy to classify as good or evil. Not to mention that there were many characters and scenes that didn't make it into the movie (90 minutes isn't a lot of time for a movie this ambitious). My personal favorite is V's 'conversation' with the statue of Madame Justice atop the Old Bailey. That scene was pure brilliance and should have made it into the movie somehow.

Oh yeah, that video shop in Hollywood! The dude at the counter was also hilarious... in a dry and creepy kind of way. Anyway, I guess you're right. The whole computer thing can't really be called a minigame. But it just worked, and the idea would fit AP. Plus, a skill check is one of the most RPG-ish things you can find in a game. :D

McCain criticizes "President Putin of Germany"
fastpunk replied to Jediphile's topic in Way Off-Topic
I'm not sure if this is funny or sad. Plus, Putin is not even president anymore. -
Parov Stelar - Rough Cuts http://www.etagenoir.com/releases/encd01.php It's jazz + breaks with a very noir feeling. Hard to describe but it's very good and sounds original.

Well, whatever that thing was. It was cool accessing someone's computer and getting the needed info or unlocking doors or whatever. I'd love to see something similar in AP. It would work wonderfully with this setting.
