I would recommend using a simple class for a beginning player. The closest to the requirements, yet relatively simple to play class would probably be the Warlock.

Default Directories/Folders
Magister Lajciak replied to Magister Lajciak's topic in Skeeter's Junkyard
I save tens to hundreds of documents, pictures and websites per day. As such, I need to have my own archival structure to organize them. -
Two questions to help me search: 1) What is the "Confessor"? I presume that in this context it does not have the same meaning as in real life. 2) Does it have to be touch attacks that do the job?

Red Alert 1 was wacky and great, but the wackiness of Red Alert 2 was a bit too much for me. We will see about Red Alert 3, but my fond memories of Red Alert 1 give me hope regarding this title.

Default Directories/Folders

Yes it does - thanks a lot! -
Whenever: 1) I open Windows Explorer, the default folder that initially opens is My Documents 2) I save a document, the default folder the computer opens first to save the file to is My Documents 3) I save a webpage, the default folder the computer opens first to save the file to is My Documents 4) I save a picture, the default folder the computer opens first to save the file to is My Documents 5) I save a video, , the default folder the computer opens first to save the file to is My Documents ... This is an extremely annoying and somewhat time-wasting feature. Is there any way to change these defaults? Thanks!

I have to agree that the extent of the changes in the Beta is too small for my taste. According to the designers, however, the purpose of the Beta was to get the complete rules into the hands of the players, not necessarily to make the biggest changes (there are hardly any between the Alphas and the Beta). The main changes will apparently happen now that the complete ruleset is up and running and the updates to the Beta will be made available as PDF files. This is, of course, different from the Alpha/Beta nomenclature used in software development and Paizo should have realized that using the terminology but with changed meanings could lead to confusion and it should have taken this into account. Oh well, as long as the final product does not disappoint, I will be happy.

Pathfinder RPG Beta has been released. You can download it here for free: http://paizo.com/store/games/roleplayingGa...r/pathfinderRPG Alternatively, it is possible to order a hardcopy of it, which is apparently being distributed at cost.

Buying a New Notebook Computer - Buy or Wait?
Magister Lajciak replied to Magister Lajciak's topic in Skeeter's Junkyard
I think Dell is an excellent online vendor for laptops. Heck, they even own Alienware, but Dell machines are better value for a given performance, as Alienware, altough excellent, is a boutique brand, so you are paying extra for the brand name. I have only good experiences with them. Indeed, my sister's new computer was ordered from Dell. Well, adjusting to Windows Vista is inevitable - new computers only come with Vista after all. I am getting less irritated by it too, as I work more often with my sister's Vista computer and am getting used to it. Even games seem to play on it fine, now that I have installed SP1. The last thing truly annoying me is the 'mouse lock' or whatever it is called, which means that when I click on the scrolling bar, rather than scrolling only when I am holding the mouse button, as it was in XP, it scrolls it until I click again... This is something I cannot get used to and seem unable to turn off (though it must be possible). -
Obsidian is doing the same - look at Alpha Protocol and Aliens, which are not going to be beholden to any PnP rule set. And that is perfectly fine. Still, I often like it when I can play PnP RPGs and CRPGs with the same ruleset. Positive externalities of learning one ruleset and all that!

In fact, since Beta is a major new release, I will begin a new thread for it.

Buying a New Notebook Computer - Buy or Wait?

Yes, I was conflating the two. So, is the Centrino 2 a particularly good chipset and if so why? -

Ok, thanks anyway... BTW: I thought Centrino was the lower-end line of processors for notebooks and that Core-Duo 2 was the better one. -
Buying a New Notebook Computer - Buy or Wait?

No ideas on whether it is worth it to wait for Nehalem and when it's coming to notebooks? -
Looks cool!

Yes, the new website looks better!

Not only are you not quite addressing my point, you are also relying increasingly on semantic minutiae to build your arguments - you are effectively grasping at straws. Yes, to your shock and dismay, opinions can very well be wrong - scientific theories that lack formal proof are often confined to the realm of opinion, and those opinions are often proven wrong when proof is provided that makes theory into law, or refutes it altogether. That is why your Galileo analogy is not just "extreme", it also works against what you said. It was *proven* that those whose "opinion" was contrary to Galileo's were simply wrong. Sure, you are entitled to thinking that the Sun revolves around Earth... but you are wrong (and irrational). Off topic: actually Galileo was also wrong, well partially. He said the sun was the centre of the universe which is wrong, we're actually on the edge of the universe not in the centre. Actually, we are not on the edge of the universe. The center and edge of the universe are all relative.

Buying a New Notebook Computer - Buy or Wait?

Note: I am particularly interested in whether it is worth it to wait for Nehalem (I don't know when it's coming for notebooks) and new graphics cards, but other upcoming hardware might also make me delay if it is good enough.
