  1. No idea, but I'm running the EU STEAM version at the moment and manually installed the patch. It's working fine so far and it seems to have solved some problems (like the camera being wonky without the ini tweaks).
  2. We all know Gromnir has a secret crush on the AoD team, especially Vince.
  3. I love the increased skill usage in the game but I really didn't like the inclusion of the skill magazines, thought it became way too easy to cheese parts of the game. I mean, a 20+ boost (if you have the right perk, and considering how powerful it is... yeah) is just... a lot really. I think the skill-point economy is quite good in NV though, and the mags would be my biggest complaint about it. Maybe if Comprehension didn't give the extra 10 points...
  4. Tropico 3 pack for 7.50, great buy if you don't have it!
  5. Judging from what little I played of the game, he is dead on about the sort of sensory overload going on in the game. It all sort of bleeds together into a giant lump of explosions and loud noise.
  6. Ah yes, bearded guy on the NCR bill is Seth from Fallout 1.
  7. Not sure, but could it be President Kimball?
  8. Good to see it finally released I suppose. Now I just pray it won't blow my install up next time I replay the game, hehe.
  9. I'm thinking of getting this once I'm finished with New Vegas. Kinda came out of the blue for me, I usually try to keep an eye on the adventure game scene.
  10. It amuses me that people are actually angry about this on some other sites I frequent. It seems to me that it is full within their right to go after people who pirate their games. While I think the "scaretactics" is a bit lulzy, the people raging about it is even lulzier. "I'm not a pirate BUT CDPROJECT HOW DARE YOU DO THIS ARGHARGHRAWR HATEHATEHATE"
  11. Some of them are bugged. Boone for example is overpowered which is a confirmed bug, and some of the companions are apparently underpowered. I had Arcade with me last time and he was very useful. I really enjoy the companions personality-wise in New Vegas, think they hit on a great note with having them be in-depth but not to the point where they sorta take over the game (like in NWN2 or DA where they are hugely important to the overall game). But even with the companion wheel, it's still a real pain in the ass to control them. Everytime I head into a "dungeon", I'm debating whether I want to bring them along because of their tendency to run off.
  12. I've only seen the shish-kebab one time so far, when Legion assassains came after me fairly late in the game. One of them wielded a shish-kebab (and he shish-kebabed Rex rather quickly I might add). I'm personally pretty happy with the difficulty level. I died a lot on my first playthrough and it still happened once in a while on my third one. Trouble with these kinds of games are of course also that you learn the gameworld fairly quickly. I thought the Cazadors was just another version of the bloatfly basically when I first saw one and it pwnd me so hard. Now I know how to approach them. First time when I was gonna wipe out the BoS I was with the NCR, got the BoS quest to kill the NCR ranger. I figured, what the hey, might as well see where it goes (instead of attacking the BoS outright I mean). But when I didn't kill the NCR ranger, 4 BoS guys strode into the bunker and killed me real hard. Had to reload a bunch of times to get through that. There's also the possibility of stumbling upon powerful weapons of course. And once you know where you can find it, well... That again trivializes many things when replaying. There are many things that I think could be toughened up a bit, but generally speaking I think they did quite a good job on the NV difficulty.
  13. Yeah, Deathclaws were an absolute death sentence in earlier levels in the other games. But you could definitely grow powerful enough to handle them fairly easily, just like in NV. And just like in NV, if you screwed up somehow, then it'd likely mean a quick death. Just ended the game going with Mr House. Good lord did I feel smug after talking down the Legate, and General Oliver come stomping through praising me for taking the Legate down. To tell Oliver "sorry mate, I did this for Mr House, sign these papers" as the army of Securitrons rolled up behind him was just the most glorious move ever.
  14. I'm a filthy European so I'm not allowed to watch this glorious Internet video feast.
  15. I think you can tweak the Fallout humor slightly this way or that in order to get more dramatic impact. Vault 11 is clearly dramatic but I also think it's a perfect example of the Fallout humor. You can have a line of humor run alongside a dramatic thread, which can be a great effect. Fallout 1 definitely had a sense of humor about itself but not to the point where you didn't take it seriously (though I also think it didn't quite do the same kind of drama like V11). I think that humor was a bit lost on the other entries in the series where it got more "silly" humor which made the setting a bit more of a mouthful at times if you ask me.
  16. I played a few missions of this over at a friends house today. You know, while some of the effects are sorta "whoa-ish" it really is the most flashy orgy of violence you could ever lay your eyes on. Not only is the game seizure-inducing visually speaking, it's also constantly bombarding your eardrums with noise. When we turned the game off we were literally like "wow... it's so quiet now!" I don't really mind violence as such, and the game isn't particularly *gory* (compared to some at least), but I almost felt dirty after playing it because it's just such "OMG VIOLENCE EXPLOSIONS DEATH NOISE FLASH EPIC SADNESS HEROIC" experience. But it was kinda fun at least, and I hated most of the MW2 campaign.
  17. The problem is that very little of what the Legion wants bleeds over into A) what we see the Legion doing and B) even what NPCs have to say. Basically all the "flesh" of the Legion is explained by Caesar in one speech to the player. Aside from that, all you see of the Legion are basically ****-moves, evil-ish NPCs and so forth. It's never really explained what the Legion is doing in the lands it has already conquered. We know it's "safe", that's all. Is it safe through the Legion instilling fear in its citizens or are the conquered lands less brutal? Also, I think a lot of Caesar's supposed wit and intelligence kinda flies out the window when it's revealed that Lanius is the successor should Caesar die. Really? Lanius? We see only the warfront of the Legion, all the rest of it just does not get through to the player which makes it rather hard to make an informed choice at all. Aside from the Roman cosplaying, I think the Legion has fascinating parts of it (especially considering this is a wasteland) but it is just not explained *nearly* enough in the game. It really needed fleshing out.
  18. His favorite game is Colonization so who cares. Very nice interview. I think it's such a horrible situation really when they talk about managing features and all that. I mean, the reason I look towards Obsidian as a favorite game developer is because they do try different things and try to insert complex mechanics in their games. And I think that's something that's really missing in many RPGs today where they feel too much like standard "products". Nicely packaged and presented, sure, but nothing *really* interesting going on or explored in them. That was also the reason why Troika is one of my fav developers. So hey, I say bring on the bugs and lack of polish if it means more ambitious games. Sorta trolling here, obviously there is a "sweeter spot" for managing it all. But I'd really hate for the creativity to take a backseat for the sake of a very polished product. But fun interview. Feargus is always so hyper and it's nice that he's such a "hands-on" dude despite being the CEO.
  19. Well, I think you could basically transform finding a snowglobe and turning it in for caps into raising a stat. I think the reward/cost for implant is the same if I remember correctly? Or maybe not. I wasn't a big fan of neither bobbleheads or snowglobes I must say. For some reason though I found myself scouring locations for the Sunset Sarsparilla caps.
  20. There is one Survival check when you talk to the kid at Nellis about the Boomer's history (gains you some fame with them) but that's all I can remember.
  21. Some guy rambles about homosexuality in New Vegas: http://news.filefront.com/homosexuality-an...-in-gay-heaven/ Even though the article is a bit, yeah... rambling, I do agree with what he says.
  22. A new challenge for replays? http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Meat_of_Champions
  23. I think Survival's mainly for a certain type of player who really enjoys going out and gathering stuff. Survival is not *needed*, just like other skills aren't needed either. My second character raised it up to the 80s or so. The benefits of some of the food items can be very good, especially at higher levels, which is probably the main draw. It's a very good alternative to medicine, with some alternative uses as well. Only thing is that I wish it had gotten some more use in dialogues, where Medicine shines a lot more in comparison. But yeah, I'm not really a gatherer per say so I found the addition of Survival to be not that exciting overall unfortunately.
  24. I never stash stuff either. Probably why I never reach those insane amounts of caps some people reach in the game, I just can't stand picking every damn thing up and constantly mess around with inventory so I don't get overloaded and then have to travel back to safehouse and blablabla. Even really valuable stuff I'll gladly leave on a corpse if it's gonna make me have to mess too much with the inventory. I was kinda amazed when I watched an LP of Fallout 3 somewhere. It was like night and day compared to how I play the game.
  25. I live in Sweden and even I never heard of that name. Jerker however, but not Jerk. Could be a mistake. Otherwise... poor guy.
