Is there a merchant in the DLC area?
Starwars replied to Doctor.Strange's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Perhaps it was just luck of the drops I got but there was not a whole lot in the shops that I wanted to purchase vs the loot I picked up. Most my money went towards enchanting instead, hehe. -
Finished it this morning, definitely enjoyed it. Most of what I mentioned above holds true for the entire experience. I didn't keep track of time but it definitely feels pretty meaty overall and fleshes out the main campaign nicely. I wish there was some form of ending slide or whatever to the DLC (unless it's added at the end of the main campaign of course) but other than that it was a great little adventure. I could not complete it on Hardcore. Had to turn down the difficulty for some of the boss fights, I got absolutely steamrolled. I just can't see myself completing the final boss for the DLC on Hardcore... ever, haha. Depending on how much the adventure scales, whether you've done Stonebridge/Glitterdelve before will probably matter a fair bit in difficulty. At the very least since you're likely to have more stuff unlocked for your character. The story of the DLC is "light-weight" but nicely done overall and again, ties in nicely to the main campaign. Given the complete lack of PR and "the Dungeon Siege complete edition", I doubt we'll see more DLCs. Really too bad because the quality of this was quite good and expansive as well. Good value for the money. A shame that it will probably get overlooked by a lot of people. Great job by the dev team!

You access the DLC via the main campaign. When you have the DLC installed and play the main campaign, you should have a new quest in your journal. You have to get to Stonebridge before you can enter the new areas.

Started up the game today and to my delight I found that I had Katarina save just before entering Stonebridge, perfect! Started up the DLC, have started the "main quest" and explored a bit of the desert so far. Liking it thus far! Some random notes: - With a Hardcore character just going into Stonebridge, I can handle most of the regular encounters just fine. Some of the boss battles are quite hard though which is nice. - The voiceacting and party-member comments fit in completely seamlessly with the main game. - In many ways, it really does feel like an extension of the main game. The general gameplay and "tone" are very similar, but with new environs. It's not like the New Vegas DLCs which all felt very different in tone (as well as gameplay) from the main game and each other. - Game still looks really great (really like the look of the abbey) though, it being a desert and all, I kinda miss the "cool" lighting of the main game in places. - It's not approaching "free-roaming" but maps are a bit more opened up in general which feels quite nice. - If you're not already, you're gonna get rich as hell. - I didn't really expect plenty new enemies but in a hack'n'slasher like this, I must say it's a bit disappointing to fight enemies that were in the main game again. - Most music is re-used but there appears to be a few new tracks. Plus, audio-design is pretty solid so the soundscape still feels fairly fresh. - Lots of spawn and re-spawn points for enemies can lead to some fairly big battles which, again, feel rather nice due to the more open environs. Still, lack of new "meat and potatoes" enemies lessens the impact unfortunately. Not finished yet but so far I'd say that it's a really solid buy if you liked the main game and want some more. It really serves to "thicken up" the entire campaign I think. Again, it's not like the NV DLC where it really switched focus a lot more to the Courier and specific characters. Treasures of the Sun is a lot more like the main game it's expanding on.

You bastard! But srsly, good luck in the future! And I agree that MotB, SoZ and DS3 are the best looking Obsidian products.

Not sure, but the same thing has always happened with one of the pre-order DLCs for me. I have the Caravan pack and whether or not it's activated in the mod list, it will appear in the game. Can't turn it off...

Yes, that game runs like ass. Especially on one brand of vid cards (can't remember if it's Nvidia or ATI) if I remember correctly. Pretty interesting game though, a nice try at something unique. Wouldn't call it amazing or anything but... interesting.

Lexx, been thinking about using your "no dialog tags" mod for upcoming playthroughs. Does it remove tags for perks as well though, like Black Widow or the rep checks like [NCR] tags?

I like that it adds some variety, plus a money-sink (much needed). It's not really a huge game changer or anything and the arsenal isn't really overpowered compared to everythingelse, it fits in well with the current line of weapons. It's fun to play around with and I think it was worth it at a cheap price like that, especially if you replay the game much (like I do).

Remember the huge failure of Final Fantasy XIV Online? Yeah... In a rather bold move, it looks like Square-Enish is completely revamping quite a lot of it: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/teaser/ Don't know if it will end up being succesful or not but it's good to see them apparently making some rather big changes to it all and owning up to their mistakes.

Travis Stout leaving Obsidian for Undead Labs
Starwars replied to funcroc's topic in Obsidian General
Always sad to see what seems like an influential designer go, but best of luck to Travis Stout in the future! -
It's only 10% right? Don't think it would feel like a huge change. If one is doing all the DLCs and most of the vanilla content, I'd recommend, I dunno... maybe a 30% or 40% increase for XP needed for next level. One of the leveling mods also has optional plugins that reduce XP gained from enemy kills plus hacking/lockpicking (not sure if regular skill checks are also reduced). I use that and the 30% increase for XP per level. I use a level 30 cap though but also tend to not do every DLC and all the vanilla content in one playthrough. I like the feeling of the progression with these settings.
-
You on the PC? If you replay the game, there are mods to tweak the XP gains or how much XP is needed to the next level.

Was Fallout 3's skybox better? I haven't played it in a while but I remember I was disappointed in that after Oblivion which in my mind had a much better skybox (might be making things up here but that was the way I remembered it).

They released goddamn Darklands on GOG. That is beyond awesome: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/darklands/?...52ed6e89a68e0b8

Dead Money can be pretty frustrating to play the first time around, I didn't think I'd replay it either even though I liked it despite its "harshness". But on the second playthrough, it's just a lot more smooth sailing since you tend to know how everything works. I do think that ending battle can be a bit of a mess though, I know both Dean and Christine helps if you've been nice to them but I always found it confusing in the heat of battle as to what exactly happens, plus it's hard to hear what they say. Most of the time I ended up hiding (using a stealth boy) until Elijah was pretty close, and then just blast him in the face with the Automatic Rifle. That seems to work well.

SEGA has the rights after all?
Starwars replied to WorstUsernameEver's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Well, nails can always be pulled out of the coffin, and horses can always be revived with a Resurrection spell in order to be kicked to death again. -

That's great news! Though yeah... if this stuff doesn't release on PC, I will commit terrorist acts against JE Sawyer's formspring account, asking him questions on DLC releases, bugs and demanding answers on games he didn't work on. -
Before that patch I only got like one assault per game (if that) which was disappointing but I think they overdid it it with the patch. It gets a bit annoying.
-
Yeah, I tend to prefer it on the more realistic side as well. Not too much crazy acrobatics and amazing goal streaks each match. Feel free to post your thoughts on PES later, definitely appreciate it.

It's been ages since I played any football games and I'm considering either PES 2012 or Fifa 2012. Fifa actually seems surprisingly good this time around.

I like Liam Neeson but I thought it was just distracting in F3. First, I don't think the performance (or character) was particularly inspired, plus it's just so... I don't know, it's just instantly recognizable that it's Liam Neeson. Same with Sean Bean and Patrick Stewart in Oblivion. The whole celebrity actor thingie was a lot more succesful in New Vegas for me personally but I think a lot of it has to do that I wasn't really deeply familiar with them. I knew some of their work, like Danny Trejo for example but just not to the point where images of the actor instantly exploded into my mind when I heard their voice. Matthew Perry was probably the worst and I felt his performance was pretty bad as well (tough character to sell though). But yeah, I'm not sure how VA auditions and all that works... But I would've gladly traded the money for some of the big names in NV, if it meant even more talented voiceactors in the game. It was an improvement on F3 and Oblivion but some of the voices still get really repetetive after a while. The DLCs come across as really well acted though I think.
