  1. It's not exactly the best part of the game, it's pretty clunky. Still, it's pretty easy to handle once you get that initial grip on it. But yeah, that could be improved a *lot*.
  2. Still playing Darklands, my group of heroes are pretty powerful now. I'm so disappointed that there is no... I dunno, updated version of this game. It would be so goddamn cool if just more events were written up, some changes were made to the mechanics to make roleplaying a bit more flexible, just more and more and more stuff to do and different ways to do it. It's such an awesome game despite it being a bit annoying at times. Josh posted on his formspring that Atari apparently owns the license now. So I say this... Josh, Feargus, Chris, whoever. Contact those mofos and demand to make small-budget, updated Darklands title for the love of everything that is holy. Because that would the most awesome thing ever.
  3. W00t, thanks Tig!
  4. Think I'll wait a bit since the site seems to be getting hammered a bit. The sale goes on for a long time so might as well wait a few days.
  5. Might I suggest moving this forum up so that people see it right away when they enter the site?. I know the games forums are currently alphabetized but I think it might be a good idea to have upcoming and current games near the top and older games (as well as the links to other forums) near the bottom of the page.
  6. Holy hell... So many good games on there, argh.
  7. Some interesting tidbits on piracy from an indie developer:
  8. Spurned on by having played through Storm of Zehir, started up a game of Darklands. It's been quite a long time since I played it so feeling a bit rusty all in all. However, it did not take long before it sucked me in completely. A game from the early 90s (92 I think?) does a lot of things better than many games today. The interface is a bit annoying (but actually got into it surprisingly fast again) and combat is not too exciting but man... It's a great game.
  9. Thank god we having gaming journalists who are able to ask those really hard questions.
  10. My preferred order is Honest Hearts, Dead Money, Old World Blues, Lonesome Road. Honest Hearts can fit in pretty well wherever you place it but I think the premise of it makes the most sense for a low level character who may not be the richest guy in the wasteland yet. Lonesome Road should definitely be played shortly before you decide to tackle the final mission in the main game.
  11. Terrible news.
  12. Playing some Storm of Zehir with an all-evil party. Have recruited Chir (forgot that that fight with the Mindflayers can be a pain in the butt on lower levels) and am gonna recruit the Shadow Thief woman once I hit the Sword Coast. Aw yeah.
  13. The interview above was pretty fun to watch, thanks for linking it.
  14. The DLC becomes available in about the middle of the game. You can do it right away or you can wait. I believe you have to do it before you depart for the final areas in the game though. I personally did it as soon as I was available and liked it. It's pretty challenging in parts but that's the fun of it. You will also get crazy loot in there, most of which will last you through the entire game I think.
  15. Think it's a combination of things really. Many fans of the original Dungeon Siege were disappointed by it because of the gameplay changes, many people were expecting something different from the multiplayer, and people who are more Obsidian fans were expecting/wanting complex story/roleplaying stuff. I really like the gameplay of DS3 (never liked the first two games) but I have to admit I fall into the last category a bit myself. Think the game is maybe "stuck in the middle" a bit. Anyways, I hope you got the DLC release also when you purchased it. It's quite good and lengthy for a DLC and fleshes out the game nicely!
  16. Think it's both a good and potentially bad sign that the creators are so involved. It's great in the sense that the game is taken seriously and doesn't seem to be a quick cash-grab. On the other hand, well... It's a game and not a tv-series. Hopefully they've found a good middle-ground to work within so that the design team at Obsidian doesn't get choked and just told what to do.
  17. Awesome, especially love getting a good look at stuff like the posters and the NCR currency. Great detail!
  18. I have never really followed South Park too closely but am I the only one surprised by all the claims that it is a right-wing extremist show or what have you? I've never gotten that impression from watching the show at least. Or should I try harder to be offended? Anyways, given that it now seems like it *will* come out on the PC at least, there is a reason to follow the news about it at least since... well, I could theoretically play it once it comes out.
  19. Don't forget the harakiri as well.
  20. While this news was disappointing to me, I am happy that we get some hilarious posts to go with it at least.
  21. First reaction: Excitment level gone. Second reaction: Whelp, no PC version anyway.
  22. Once I'd seen most of the world of Skyrim (which took a while, and was definitely really enjoyable to explore), my interest dropped really quickly. Finished up the questlines I had going and stopped playing. Started up a replay of Deus Ex Human Revolution, and I'm enjoying myself a lot. Think this game will sorta feel like Bloodlines to me in how there are many things I really don't care for in it, but it will keep pulling me back for replays because of other things it does really well.
  23. That was hilarious... or sad, I can't quite make up my mind.
  24. It's tough though. I *love* walking around in the TES gameworlds at the start, discovering things, starting up the quests and so forth. But it becomes troublesome when you get further into the questlines, and the "drama" escalates. Especially once you've been around the world a few times and it's like... Well, I'm in Riften now and need to get to Markarth. It's just not that interesting to wander that distance *again* and then back again. The world gets old-hat after a while, and when that sets in my interest drops like a rock. New Vegas for example is a game that I've completely many times now. But there inevitably comes a point where I just say 'screw this' and start the fast-traveling. Once you've been back and forth across a particular area it's just boring to go again.
  25. Well, finished what I set out to do with this character/what I found interesting. Main quest, Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood as far as the main questlines go, plus most of the Daedric ones and obviously a few random ones here and there. Liked the game a fair bit, a good entry in the TES series definitely. A bit disappointed in the actual quests this time around though, especially the Dark Brotherhood and TG were pretty disappointing to me. The most positive aspect of the game is the beautiful world, with lots of good lore to uncover. And the fact that I don't groan each time I have to go inside a dungeon. Still, did feel a bit of that fatigue I often in these games towards the end... When you've seen most of the world, the interest in travelling it lessens it. And so I zip around the world with fast-travel, "mopping up" the quests. As soon as I get tired of the travelling, the game also takes a bit of a nosedive. Still, money well spent and Bethesda stepped up their game from Oblivion which was great to see.
