That should be normal, you should see him when you I'm guessing this is your first game?
-
I don't think that's a game bug or anything, that's how the influence system works in the game... Every NPC is different, some will be affected more than others. To influence their alignment you have to gain (or lose) influence, this is done through dialog and quests. You can artificially edit the influence you have on others with the game save editor (KSE).

Same here really, updating drivers might help. On a side note, is the swoop bike quest a "completable" one, or not,
-
Have you installed the latest updates for both games? Other than that, I'd suggest lowering the graphics specs and see if that makes a difference.

Laptops are a bit "iffy", mostly due to the graphics cards that come with them. Saying that, I got a new laptop in January that is "Vista-ready" (i.e. has a Core Duo and WinXP) and it has an Intel graphics card (and that's the most BASIC card you can get) and both games run with high settings, albeit there are a couple instances in KoTOR where you need to lower everything to progress in the game (Taris underworld in particular, where you recruit Mission). TSL runs fine all the way through after you install the update patches. Mine is a Dell Latitude D820, but I've read posts of other laptop owners who've had problems playing, particularly Sony Vaio's I believe. I believe the main issue with running the game on a laptop is the available hardware (gfx, ram, etc...) more than the OS.

Depends what Force Side points you want really. Give to the dude next to the woman with kids and the woman in the bar for darkside. Give to the woman with kids and the republic spy in the bar for light side. Or use KSE and give yourself loads and give to EVERYONE!

Trouble with HK50s on Nar Shadaa
refuse replied to AdmiralSnackbar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't think the game will spawn the HK-47 parts at random, much like the saber parts you need to construct your first saber in the game. You might find these items available at different points in the game, but they are always specific tasks/people where you will always find them and if you've forgotten to pick them up (unless you are given them). -
Question about Bastila's model
refuse replied to LordKeldorn's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Unless you can extract the Bastila model from any of the two games, I doubt you'd be able to get anything more from Lucas or Bioware. It's not likely that they will be selling that sort of stuff. Perhaps if you looked at Poser (or whatever it's called now) and maybe you can find models you can alter to get something near Bastila. I'm sure there's loads of Star Wars related models out there. -
You can't build any more sabers after the first one, you need to get them completing quests and off people you will fight.

Also try to get to the exile asap, not messing around in rooms you don't need to be. If you have a selection of mines, you could always set some traps around corners and then lure droids over in solo mode. mira is obviously really handy at this, what with her mine avoidance skill. use stealth for that too.

To the users who find not playing the first game a waste of time: This is a risky situation, but assuming that the team you employ is creative enough, by not allowing them to play the first game, you don't automatically set them any parameters about game design or story/plot. This can be positive as you'll end up with an entirely new game, rather a game that feels more like an expansion than a game in itself. To use a musical analogy, you don't end like the Ramones, releasing the same one record with 20 different covers (ha!). It is a bit questionable on behalf of Lucas, if only because at least with the films, they like to repeat many story themes and situations, so you'd somewhat expect a repitition of events, places and scenarios. Perhaps they should have been given a comic book version of the first game and then let them figure out how to design the game from scratch. In any case, it's pointless discussing what coulda woulda shoulda, the game's done!

It depends on the mod really... Some really compliment the game and well done, others are more hastily done and are a bit, for lack of a better word, sh!t. I am a bit eclectic about the mods I use, but here are some I have bothered looking into... I would definitely recommend you download the High Level Force Powers (2.0 and the 2.1 patch), as it adds (for the most part) some really nice force powers that add more to the game, although a few of them are a bit repetitive or very similar to other powers. Force Pull, Force Destruction and Force Spirit are pretty cool force powers that intergrate nicely into the gameplay. You can install this mod whenever too. (9/10) Mods that generally add items (weapons, crystals, robes etc...) I'm not that much a fan of. They tend to be super-powerful items that take away a bit of the challenge in the game. They are fun for about half an hour, then you don't notice them or get bored of them. I'd recommend you only bother with them if a) you find the game a bit hard or b) want to get into modding yourself, as they are good to practice with and give you an idea of how things work. (2/10) Other mods change the appearance of your PC and NPC's to other models used by the game, whilst others also change the skins and add dialog options. Again, these are mostly hit and miss; you can change the appearance of PC/NPCs through KSE in any case and most mods that change more (dialog, story etc...) are a bit too 'fanboy' for my liking and come off 10 times cheesier than the stuff that already exists. (4/10) The Combat Simulation Arena is also pretty nifty as a mod and challenge, something else to do before you beat the game. It adds a reskin(?) of an existing area in the game, where there is a Hutt that organises a bunch of fights, similar to KoTOR I in Taris, only a BIT(!) harder and with bigger winnings. (7/10) There is a Droid Planet mod as well that also changes Goto to another HK droid which is fairly OK, the problem being that the dialog is a bit weird at times (some text is in German). It ties up the story a bit more through some of the restoration, but it still needs more work to be properly intergrated. For work in progress, if you can ignore some of the errors, it's pretty good and worth a go (6/10). Obviously the most promising mod is the upcoming TSL:Restoration Project, which from the looks of it seems to be solid. Hopefully that'll be out sooner rather than later.

To your original question, you don't necessarily have to start a new game, but dependant on the mod, you may have to start from the beginning, particularly if the mod changes a lot of stuff.

Darth Nihilus' Saber Style
refuse replied to LightningRocks's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Which doesn't make sense because Nihlus is a Sith Lord and Malak is a Dark Jedi Gardian. Which makes perfect sense, because this is a game and the developers sought out to save time by not animating everything from scratch (or creating, for that matter), particularly a fighting animation that shows up in one fight. -
You don't consume more Force Points for using the upgraded force powers! It's simply that your Jedi becomes more 'efficient' at that particular force and can inflict more damage with the same force as before... sorta. Besides, if you use a ton of powers, you would most likely be a consular/master/sith lord, whereby you'll have more than enough force points (and force regen) to indulge...

what do you mean how do you rename them? simply change the name of the individual file you wabt, right click, select 'rename' and alter the extension from .wav to .mp3. make sure you change it back to .wav to play the game though...
-
The dialog files are in folders in C:\Program Files\LucasArts\SWKotOR2\StreamVoice, if you installed the game with default options. Simply rename from .wav to .mp3 and you'll be fine.
-
In your game folder you will find all the audio of the game in subfolders, but with .wav extentions. If you change them to .mp3, you should be able to play them with winamp or whatever you use.

Kotor 2. Game stopping story bugs!!!!!!
refuse replied to turbo_dude55's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
i'm playing a dark side game and did onderon last, no problem after leaving onderon for dxun; i got the message as soon as i got on the ebon hawk and got out straight away. -
Certain characters can only be 'turned' on certain planets (or events triggered there), such as Mira on Nar Shadaa. Handmaiden, on the other hand, can be turned after beating her Echani-style on the Ebon Hawk. Question: I'm playing a dark side game and had a row with Handmaiden and now she refuses to talk to me. When I talk to Atton, there's an option to talk about it, but it doesn't seem to go anywhere. Is it possible to reverse this (by going full light side)?
